...ork2012 - 2013 Catalog A Message from the President “Sullivan University is truly a unique and student success focused institution.” I have shared that statement with numerous groups and it simply summarizes my basic philosophy of what Sullivan is all about. When I say that Sullivan is “student success focused,” I feel as President that I owe a definition of this statement to all who are considering Sullivan University. First, Sullivan is unique among institutions of higher education with its innovative, career-first curriculum. You can earn a career diploma or certificate in a year or less and then accept employment while still being able to complete your associate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree by attending during the day, evenings, weekends, or online. Business and industry do not expand or hire new employees only in May or June each year. Yet most institutions of higher education operate on a nine-month school year with almost everyone graduating in May. We remained focused on your success and education, and continue to offer our students the opportunity to begin classes or to graduate four times a year with our flexible, year-round full-time schedule of classes. If you really want to attend a school where your needs (your real needs) come first, consider Sullivan University. I believe we can help you exceed your expectations. Since words cannot fully describe the atmosphere at Sullivan University, please accept my personal invitation to visit and experience...

...gaining market share, and most importantly satisfying the customer who has become more educated and more demanding than ever. In the last two decades two organizational development models have dominated the business world for a considerable period of time namely Total Quality Management (TQM) and Core Process Re-engineering (CPR). TQM and CPR share a cross-functional relationship. Quality specialists tend to focus on incremental change and gradual improvement of processes, while proponents of re-engineering often seek radical redesign and drastic improvement of processes. Quality management often referred to as TQM or continuous improvement, means programs and initiatives, which emphasize incremental improvement in work processes, and outputs over an open-ended period of time. In contrast, reengineering, also known as business process redesign or process innovation, refers to prudent initiatives intended to achieve radically redesigned and improved work processes in a specific time frame. In contrast to continuous improvement, CPR relies on a different school of thought. The extreme difference between continuous process improvement and core process reengineering lies in where the start from and also the magnitude and rate of resulting changes. In course of time, many derivatives of radical, breakthrough improvement and continuous improvement have emerged to address the difficulties of implementing major changes in corporations. Core Process Reengineering Core Process Reengineering...

Predictability of Stock Price on Nigeria Stock Exchange

...predictability CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY The performance of an economy is dependent largely on the efficient performance of its financial markets, since they facilitate the financing of productive activity and hence national output and economic growth. In this research report, the key roles and function of the financial markets are highlighted with the thrust of the discussion on the core issue of how the market works; directly and indirectly. One of the most important factors for rapid economic development is the effective mobilization and allocation of scarce resources within an economy. These resources can be real or financial, but they are scarce and command a price. The establishment of effective and efficient channel for the mobilization and allocation of scarce financial resources is therefore essential. The financial market, comprising of the money and capital markets, occupies an important place in most economies of the world. The primary function of a financial market is to enable funds to be sufficiently allocated from the surplus units of the economy to the deficit units for productive investment. The greater the transmission efficiency is, the higher the rate of growth of the economy (Olowe, 1997). The money market trades only in securities or debt instruments maturing in less than twelve months, while in the capital market, longer term debts as well as equity instruments are traded. The complementarity between money market...

...Direct Investment in Nigeria’s Agriculture Sector in A VAR Environment Ayodeji Adetunji Idowu* Liu Ying Huazhong Agricultural University, No.1, Shizishan Street, Hongshan District, Wuhan, Hubei Province · 430070 · P.R. China * E-mail of the corresponding author: ayodeji.idowu@hotmail.com The research is financed by project (NCET-12-0868) New Century Excellent Talents and Project (2013PY017). Abstract This study evaluated and forecasted the impact of FDI in the agricultural sector from 1980-2007, specifically its impact on agricultural output and labor in a Vector Auto Regression (VAR) environment. Data used in this study were sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) statistical bulletin (2009). Results from the analysis revealed that FDI in the period under review had no significant impact on agricultural output. In addition, results of the forecast estimates showed that the current volume of FDI would not significantly affect agricultural output but will have significant positive impact on labor (employment generation). This study recommended for increase in the volume of FDI and advised government and other stakeholders to seek FDI that will improve existing or introduce new technology in the agricultural sector and enhance domestic capacity or domestic investment, even if the opportunity cost of a reduction in labor may have to be paid. Keywords: Agriculture; FDI; Nigeria; SAP; VAR. 1. Introduction Nigeria, a country that spans an area of 924,000 square kilometers, is bordered...
