I am Asian, born and raised in Michigan, to Filipino parents as well as an only child. In regard to bilingualism, I am highly familiar with the English language. But to be frank, I recognize and know a few words of the Tagalog language, which is my family’s native tongue. I did not learn how to speak and fully understand this language due to the fact that everyone in the household, including my parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles, can speak and understand English. When they interact with me, they speak to me only in English. Furthermore, I identify myself as female, and my sexual orientation is heterosexual. My relationship status is that I am single with no parental status. Moreover, I live in Grand Blanc, Michigan and was raised as a Catholic. I am currently in my second year as a graduate student in the Masters of Art of Art Therapy program at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Prior to this, I have completed high school and received my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a minor in psychology at the University of Michigan – Flint. At the moment, I am unemployed and a full-time student. Before starting my first year as a graduate, I had summer jobs, which included positions as a medical receptionist, and a facilitator for the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools program. I also did contractual work as a video/photography editor, greeting card illustrator, and maintenance painter. I did a part-time job as a tutor for young children ages between 10 - 13.
