...Case Assignment Name : Muhammad Kamil 12/341277/PEK/17366 Class : International Class, Batch 60 Chapter 11 Case 11-3. CUP Corporation Case Overview CUP was one of the largest insurance firms based in Europe. They enjoyed growth rate of more than 25% each year for almost past 10 years. They sold various forms of insurance in order to broaden the type of the insurance into health, life, casualty, property, and automotive areas. However, the growth was flat instead of the planned 3 percent by 1996 and 1997. The declining growth rate resulted from several issues, economic climate, higher taxes and social welfare levies, increasing competition, extensive satisfaction of the basic demand for insurance in Germany. In 1996, the number of customer canceling contracts compared to the total amount of contracts, called “lapse rate”, reached DM 900M which is 10% of total premium revenue. They are having customer loyalty problem that has to be solved. One of the issue here is the establishment of CCC (Customer Care Center). This CCC enables the company to provide customer with one telephone number that will answer all of customer questions due to their contract. They need to professionally train people who could effectively answer a variety of questions and increase the service dramatically. The final objective would be to reduce the lapse rate. The “lapse rate” problem for CUP was summarized by the image of leaking bucket, new customers would flow into the bucket while at the same time many...

Cup Corporation Case Study

...INTRODUCTION: CASE BACKGROUND & ISSUES CUP Corporation was one of the largest insurance firms based in Europe. It had a worldwide operation and was recently acquired by another major insurance company. The firm had made a series of acquisitions to broaden the types of insurance offerings and expanding the market needs. It sold a various forms of insurance in the health, life, casualty, property and automotive areas. Customer segments of the firm’s services are divided into two groups of agents and brokers as well as end-customers. Over the last couple of years, the growth of premium income in German industry is somewhat instable. The declining growth rates had affected German insurance industry due to some reinforcing trends: 1) Worse economic climate such as increasing economic downsizing, increasing unemployment and fluctuations in real income. 2) Higher taxes and social welfare levies. 3) Increasing competition resulting from the deregulation of the European market. 4) Extensive satisfaction of the demand for insurance in German. CUP Corporation had enjoyed remarkable growth despite economic downturns. However, the increasing competition and increasing client price sensitivity in the private insurance market has led to the shorter contracts and more cancellation of existing contracts among customers that is varied by the intensity of the products. Particularly, CUP Corporation is facing some problems regarding to the customer loyalty as...

Sport

...Development of Football in England The idea of football came from the medieval game that was known as mob football which included two villages that would play with a pigs head. The game had no rules which meant that violence was a large part of the game and they would play until people were dying or until people were running away. Balls were not invented so the people would use a pigs head and kick that around. King Edward II was the person to ban the game as it created too much violence within the people of the country. 1581 is the earliest account of football as an organised sport. It was played between elite schools such as Eton and colleges such as Cambridge and Oxford. Sides, positions, referees were introduced. The game was played on just and average field like what farm animals would be on and they would use the gates as a goal. 1848 – Cambridge Rules This club shall be called the University Foot Ball Club. At the commencement of the play, the ball shall be kicked off from the middle of the ground: after every goal there shall be a kick-off in the same way. After a goal, the losing side shall kick off; the sides changing goals, unless a previous arrangement be made to the contrary. The ball is out when it has passed the line of the flag-posts on either side of the ground, in which case it shall be thrown in straight. The ball is behind when it has passed the goal on either side of it. When the ball is behind it shall be brought forward at the place where it left...

Ajax and Johan Cruijf

...behavior 6 Conclusion 7 Bibliography 8 Appendix 9 Introduction In this case, the issue that will be discussed is about Ajax and the problems between Johan Cruijff and the Supervisory Board. Which functions are engaged within the decision making for Ajax and what exactly happened recently between the directors? Furthermore, there will be a focus on the difference between groups and teams. Founded on March 18, 1900 AFC Ajax is one of the largest and most storied clubs in European football. For example, they won 30 times the National Championship, 18 times the Dutch cup, 7 times the Johan Cruijff shield, 4 times the Champions league and many more. While led by the world famous Johan Cruijff, AFC Ajax had one of the best seasons ever in 1972 by a professional football team winning the National Championship, the Dutch Cup, the European Champions Cup and the World Cup. Everybody will agree on the fact that being so successful is not only about having a good soccer team. Recently, the Ajax supporters, and of course the rest of the soccer world, were surprised by Johan Cruijff. The supervisory board was in conflict with Johan Cruijff, and this situation was even brought to court since Ajax is not only a football club. Eventually, this led to the resign of the entire board of directors. How is it possible, that such a successful organization as Ajax experiences structural problems? problem definiton What structural problems...

Business Model

...PSG outlines multi-sport future Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has signalled its intention to create a sporting empire modelled on FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in the latest demonstration of its growing ambition. The Ligue 1 giant on Tuesday announced the relaunch of the city’s handball team, which has existed in various forms since 1941 and has been associated with the club since the 1990s. The move is the initial phase of a bid to develop a multi-sport entity around the PSG brand, and could also see the launch of a basketball club. Barcelona and Real Madrid, along with a host of Europe’s leading clubs, have traditionally employed this model. “The idea is to rapidly create a large multi-sport club to promote the global project of Paris Saint-Germain,” said PSG director general Jean-Claude Blanc, according to Eurosport. “We will not stop at handball even if, for now, there is no specific list or timeframe of sports and deadlines.” The new strategy reflects the latest move by the club’s new owners in an era of great change. Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) in March acquired the remaining 30% stake in PSG in a deal that valued the club at Eur100 million. QSI had originally acquired a 70% stake from US investment firm Colony Capital in June 2011. Following the bitter disappointment of losing out on the 2011-12 Ligue 1 title to Montpellier on the final day of last season, QSI has signalled its intention to make an even stronger challenge at home and in Europe by embarking on a spending...

...playground evaluation 15.08.12 The playground I have designed is suitable for children from the age of 1 year old. This playground ranges in different equipment for younger and older children. There is sun protection on one of the towers, but hats and sunscreen should also be worn to protect the children from the sun. On my playground there is no exposed sharp edges or nails etc. no raw metal surfaces to avoid burns. Railings are 9cm or less in width apart from each other to avoid a head being stuck. No equipment is able to get limbs, heads and necks stuck. There is an adequate guard railing and hand railings all over 1m high. My playground has separate zones for quite/shy kids, and the noisy and adventurous kids. My playground provides a range of different activities to entertain and encourage children to learn new things. There are separate zones for younger and older children, the zones are not fenced off but this allows the younger children to explore the more difficult equipment. I have placed swings in my playground so that little and big kids can both use them, I also have a see saw and a flying fox, all of these teach kids how to share and interact with other children. There are toilet facilities, water bubblers and bins for litter inside my playground. Parents can supervise easily and see their children from the shaded seating in the playground. My playground is colourful and pretty to the eye. My playground is challenging fun for kids, it allows...

The Most Major Needs Are in My Community

...The most major needs are in my Community By: Amos G. Mellish I am student Amos G. Mellish, and currently live in the Newport Street Community, Monrovia, Liberia. I have lived in this community for the last 12 years. As our country Liberia is in a destitute and underdeveloped state, with a majority of the population living in abject poverty, it is of no doubt that most of the communities in Monrovia are in deplorable conditions. The many major needs of these communities that are essential to the survival of its inhabitants are inexpressible. However, I will point out the four most major needs and justify their essentially to the survival of its inhabitants and how if I were to volunteer in this community as a student of Service Learning Program (SLP-339), would improve these situations. The most major needs are: 1. Good Toilet Facilities 2. A well Arrange Garbage Collection 3. Security against Arm Rubbery 4. Electricity With these four major needs, I will discuss and justify their significance to the survival of the inhabitants of my community. 1. Good Toilet Facility: I look at this as a major issue owing to the fact that most of the houses in my community do not have inside or private toilet. They instead, depend on the community government toilet for daily and regular defecations. This is the one and only public toilet facility in the Newport Community, which is very messy and deplorable. This single area bears the service of about 3000 person...

Most people would think that, but there is so much more to the sport than you realize. In fact, its Possibly one of the most underrated sports in America. For all of you that overlook hockey, I picked 4 simple topics for you that came from a legendary hockey quote that you will get to hear when I end this speech. it should open your eyes about how hard this sport really is. Now, I understand that most of you in here play other sports, so even if i only convince one person in here that hockey is the hardest sport to play, itll be a good day. And before any of you even start to think that my opinion wont change your mind because you think that the sport you play is harder, hear me out, I may use your sport as an example. First off, to be a hockey player, you need the strength and power of a football player. You have to work on your body to get the power you need behind your shot. Not to mention, theres other players coming at high speeds right at you, and if you don’t like when they hit you, well, in hockey, its legal to drop the gloves and fight. So having the strength of a football player is one of the many attributes that hockey players must require. Next skill a hockey player needs is the stamina of a marathon runner. Speed is key in hockey and having that will give you a great advantage. Youre constantly...

Frivolous Lawsuit

...A Frivolous Lawsuit is a case where people sue big corporations in the hopes of making a large sum of money. Many of these stories sound like absurd urban legends. Surprisingly, many of these ridiculous stories are true. In many cases, the person who is suing a corporation gets overly creative with their allegations and they create lawsuits which get thrown out. However, other cases such as Liebeck v. McDonald's go further. In February 1992, an 80 year old woman named Stella Liebeck ordered a cup of coffee from McDonald’s to go. When the incident occurred, she was sitting in her nephew's car, that was pulled over so she could add sugar to her coffee. When Liebeck removed the lid of the cup she spilled her hot coffee on herself. She suffered...
