Three hundred students were randomly selected from the two Colleges of Education in Anambra State. A 50-item questionnaire survey method was utilized based on five research questions. Findings indicated that in the perceptions of the students, it is ideal to incorporate several civic components, skills and dispositions into the citizenship education curriculum. Recommendations were made for revamping of the citizenship education curriculum in Colleges of Education in line with the identified civic components, skills and dispositions so as to ensure the establishment of education for sustainable development in the country. It also identifies, discusses and analyses the causes as well as the various ways conflicts manifested in the administration of secondary schools in the state. The effects of conflicts on school administration are equally examined. Quantitative and qualitative data were generated from both primary and secondary sources. The paper shows that administration of secondary schools in the state was hampered by high rate of conflicts. Several types of conflicts were identified in the schools among which were conflicts between management and staff, between staff and students, between the communities and schools, and inter-personal conflicts, to mention a few. The causes of conflicts in schools in the state included inadequate welfare package for workers, forceful and compulsory retirement/retrenchment of workers, administrative incompetence, personality clashes, role conflicts, and non-involvement of students in school administration. The scheme is also meant to familiarize students with work methods and exposed them to the needed experience in handling such equipment and machinery that are not available in the educational institutions. It is finance by the federal government and managed by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). Employers of Labour are very important in the effective running of this scheme. They are to absorb a large number of the SIWES students in their various establishments to acquire the practical training. B. 5363, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria Abstract: This paper examined the influence of class-size on the quality of output in secondary schools in Ekiti State, Nigeria. The population of the study comprised all the 141 secondary schools that presented students for the year 2003 SSC examinations in the State. A sample of 120 schools was selected through stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through an inventory and were analysed with the use of chi square test, correlation analysis and t- test. Semi-structured interview was conducted with selected principals and education officers. Their responses were analysed through the content analysis technique. The findings revealed that schools having an average class-size of 35 and below obtained better results in the Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) examinations than schools having more than 35 students per class. The mean scores were higher in schools having an average class-size of 35 and below. The interviewees’ responses supported the findings as they supported small class-sizes in schools. It was therefore recommended that Government should provide more classrooms in all secondary schools in the State to cater for small class-sizes.
