Dalman and Lei have started a successful business in Sandwich Blitz, Inc. Before making their decision as to whether they should consider a small expansion or something on a larger scale, they should consider the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for the good of the company. First, Dalman and Lei have strengths in their business as far as it seems they are good business people, being loyal, considerate, and aware of their employees and customers needs and wants. They take time out of their day from running the day to day business functions, to go to every store and look at the needs and wants, along with issues of employees and customers. This ensures quality control, that everyone remains satisfied and happy. Second, their strength could turn in to a weakness by deciding to expand, because they are maintaining the control of the managers and employees themselves. They could hire managers, who have the experience to take this duty upon his or her self so they could concentrate more on the expansion. They also have to take in to consideration they will need to focus on hiring more employees along with the other duties of expanding. Third, the opportunity to expand could bring more profit and they could consider the ability to turn the company in to a franchise. Even though it is a time of economic downturn, their shops are bringing a profit and they are already known in the area. They could also consider offering specials and prices that other shops don’t give their customers. Fourth, the threats of expanding would have to be determined by Dalman and Lei based up on their financial status and the economic downturn.

They would have to make this decision and also research the other sandwich shops within the area they are looking to expand. They would need to check out their competition based on all other…...

Lei Miserables

...Louiemar C. Francisco BSA 2-3 “Look down, and show, some mercy if you can. Look down, look down, upon your fellow man” – lei miserables I remember this line at the start of the movie and this make me say “wow” without thinking. My favorite movies are those that there are slaves and they will rise and revenge to their masters, something like that. And with that song, I got a clue that lei miserables would be one of my favorites. Honestly I have not read the story of lei miserables that’s why I don’t know if I could I understand the movie. Luckily, my brother watched with me and he narrates me the story while I am watching it so I am able to understand the story. The actors and actresses were able to portray their roles in a creative manner. Acting while singing or vice versa is I think one of the hardest part of being an artist that’s why I praised these characters. They do have many talents aside from acting. I thought those characters all came from a choir. The director was able to describe the setting during the French revolution (18 century), the houses, the firearms, their dresses, their houses, the architectures, the atmosphere, etc, making the movie realistic. The movie is a story love. Love for the country, when a revolution broke out because of the political rule of monarchy (history). I was amazed that all of them even the women and child were united under a single principle that the political rule of France must be given to the people and not to a......

...ChapterⅡComparison of Confucius Institute and Goethe Institute from the Intercultural Communication Perspective 1、孔子学院:大规模扩张背后的跨文化传播形态 Since November 2004, when China's first Confucius Institute was established overseas in Seoul, South Korea, in just a few years, the number of it has been increasing at a rapid speed, exceeding more than 100 in countries and regions around the world. On average, a new branch is set up per week. It can be easily seen that the newly founded Confucius Institute is expanding at an increasing speed, compared to Goethe Institute, which has a history of nearly 60 years. However, considering the essence of foreign language teaching and media organizations and the effect of the language and culture dissemination, rapid growth of number does not necessarily mean effective cultural transmission. This is actually the concern of study of foreign languages and media organizations, on which all similar institutions should focus. It is of great importance to analyze, compare and indicate the effect of cultural transmission, so as to come up with solutions to improve the process. From the operating level, Confucius Institute mainly focuses on the teaching of entry-level Chinese, complemented by coaching tai chi and other activities of interest in traditional Chinese culture. Considering the large number of Confucius Institute around the world, Confucius Institute has made contributions to promoting Chinese worldwide, even though its activities are......

Dalman and Lei

...Dalman and Lei must focus their attention on the sudden rush of customers throughout all of their locations. Because of the sudden rush, Sandwich Blitz employees have been inputting incorrect orders which would lower customer satisfaction. To counteract such problems, Dalman and Lei have decided to install an e-customer ordering system so that employees will feel less overwhelmed. By applying Kotter’s Eight Steps to Leading Change, it will modernize all of the locations with the new change. Step one establishes a sense of urgency. In other words, Dalman and Lei need to quickly install the new ordering system to minimize ordering errors. Step two creates a guiding coalition, a group of people to lead the change. By the e-mails sent to all of the managers, it is letting them know to be prepared to make the change; which will increase customer satisfaction with the new ordering system. Step three develops vision and strategy. It speaks for itself, have an end goal and a strategy to reach the end goal; reduce ordering errors. Step four communicates the change vision, meaning every channel and opportunity is used to reinforce the vision. Dalman and Lei must make it understanding with all employees what the vision and end goal is. Step five empowers broad-based actions removes anything in the way of the end goal. Therefore, if employees are causing the ordering errors, simply replace them with electronic ordering systems. Step six generates short term wins to slowly work towards......

Dalman & Lee Unit 8

...Unit 8 Assignment   Integrity and Leadership are issues that Dalman is currently facing in Sandwich Blitz. New laws for the health codes have been put in place in one of their locations. Currently they do not meet the rules for the placement of the dumpster. The government zoning inspector is willing to turn a blind eye to violation in exchange for Sandwich Blitz to supply food for his company’s holiday parties. Dalman needs to use some integrity in this situation. After reading the Eight Steps in “Rethinking Integrity,” by Sherman, I believe there are definite integrity steps that Dalman should choose to follow here. Doing the right thing is the first of the eight steps of integrity that Sandwich Blitz should incorporate. Doing the right thing means having a clear understand of what is right and wrong. A good leader has good values. He leads his employees by example. In this situation Dalman needs to obey the rules. In the long run it won’t benefit him to violate this health code. The dumpster needs to be moved back the extra food that is required. These codes are set in place for a reason. In this case it is a health issue. Dalman wants his company to have a good reputation and also he wants his employees to follow the rules as well. One leads by example and in this case doing the right thing shows the employees they should not cut corners or violate laws set in place either. Dalman will need to take responsibility in this situation. To take......

...It future use of the building could be cultural, educational, community, commercial or a combination of the above provided they are compatible with the historical and cultural character of the building. On 17 February 2009, the government declared that the building will be used by the Hong Kong Baptist University as a Chinese Medicine and healthcare centre. The capital cost of the project is estimated at HK$24.8 million. The revitalisation work was completed in early 2012, and the building is now known as Hong Kong Baptist University School of Chinese Medicine – Lui Seng Chun.[5] We suggest having 2 shops on the ground floor of Lui Seng Chun. One is a Chinese herbal shop cum clinic. The other is a Chinese herbal tea house. In order to re-create nostalgia, the Chinese herbal tea house should follow the typical design of the 50's. Shamshuipo is an old district with a lot of elders living in there who are not accustomed to consult western medical practitioners. Therefore to have a Chinese herbal shop cum clinic at Lui Seng Chun is most appropriate for them. Initially, four practitioners will offer acupuncture, Chinese medicine and bone-setting to an estimated 80 patients a day. A fifth of the consultations will be reserved for welfare recipients, who will get free consultations and basic medicine. Patients over 65 will enjoy a 20 per cent discount on fees. The four-storey building has a herbal tea shop and courtyard on the ground floor, and a reception and a pharmacy...

Dalman and Lei need to look at their long term goals regarding Sandwich Blitz. Dalman and Lei need to make sure Sandwich Blitz is running effectively and efficiently before moving into a large scale company. Dalman and Lei need to consider a few things before committing to expansions. A strength they have is their business model. They have in place a manager and a supervisor at each location. The manager is responsible for day to day operations, budgets, employee matters, and any customer service issues. They have a compensation incentives based on performance of the location. Dalman and Lei Unit 2

...Sociotechnical Systems Theory, Quantitative Management, Organizations Theory, and System Theory approaches and Macro, Internal, and Competitive environments all have their place and relevance to managing a business. Some are more helpful than others and can be a great asset to building a business and some seem to lack importance or stability. Which ones are best for certain situation depends on what business a person is in and what position they are holding at the current time and place in the business. There are differences between the four contemporary approaches to management. Sociotechnical Systems Theory is different from the other approaches in that it deals with the people or human side of business. Human interactions and interpersonal relationships are considered in the decision making process. The people are handled more hands-on and allows people to correct any mistakes or problems early on. Quantitative Management is unique from the other approaches because it deals mostly with management issues in a mathematical way. Though there seem to be issues with this because most problems that arise cannot be solved in a mathematical way as in dealing with a management issue that an employee is misbehaving or not completing work on time. Organizations Theory differs from the other approaches as it is more cause and effect. How the manager treats the employee is how the employee will in turn act or work. If a manager does not know what they are doing or does not train......

...and location manager, the CEO can concentrate more on the company as a whole and not be stretched to handle many locations. The new position can handle the businesses directly without having to always interrupt Dalman. Dalman can focus more on what he needs to do in order to expand the business and make it better. 2. Is promoting an existing manager the best option to fill this position? If not, what is an alternative source to fill the position? Promoting a manager that has already been with the company for a while would be a great idea. This person already knows how the company works and what it needs as far as locational needs go. A manager that has already been with the company knows its operations and what needs to be done where it comes to the different locations. Promoting someone who doesn’t know anything about the company would take more training which means Dalman and Lei would have to take time out to train the new person. They are already stretched for time and don’t have time to train an outsider. So to alleviate some of the extra training they would have to do, just promoting a manager within the company would be better. 3. Who within the company should make these decisions? The person making these hiring decisions should be Lei and Dalman. Since this person would be reporting to them, it needs to be a person they know they can trust with this task. The new position would put this person right below them but above the managers at the stores......

...Recently, I received a request to perform an x-ray on a patient who was newly admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit. After explaining that I was there to perform an x-ray of her chest, her first remark was that she did not want to have another x-ray because she had an hour before in her doctor’s office. She was adamant about the fact that we should be able to view the image that she had in the doctor’s office within the hospital. I responded that because the exam was done in the doctor’s office and not the hospital, her physician would be unable to gain access to the image or results of the exam. Unfortunately, she was not thrilled with my answer and refused the exam. This example is one reason why the patient’s information should be recorded electronically. Legislation passed during the Bush administration which requires an electronic health record (EHR) to be established for all Americans by 2014(Hebda& Czar, 2009). An EHR can be defined as a “digital collection of patient’s medical history and could include items like diagnosed medical conditions, prescribed medications, vital signs, immunizations, lab results, and personnel characteristics like age and weight”(Hebda& Czar, 2009,page 295). The electronic record would replace the current method of recording patient data which is the paper chart. The data in the paper chart is compiled of handwritten entries and other printed documents (Englebert &Nelson 2002). In my dealings with paper charts, I have often......
