If offered a role in a movie as the hero or villain, I would personally choose to play the villain. Although it would be morally correct to play a hero in a movie, playing a villain has its own advantages. Playing the villain is more entertaining as the villains in movies are usually always well remembered. As a villain, you can be the anti-hero and you are one of the most important characters in a movie. The notoriety of being an anti-hero combined with performing as a role you would never mimic in real life, make it worth accepting a part as a villain over a role of a hero.
