Dazzler or duck?
This question was posted to me by one of my form teacher in primary school. When I got this question, I was rather puzzled. A dazzler? A duck? I went on searched for the true meanings of this question. After a while, I realized that a dazzler is actually an extrovert and a duck is an introvert.

First of all, let me explain what a dazzler and a duck are. A dazzler is a person or thing that dazzles, in particular a person who is overwhelmingly impressive or skillful. A duck is a person predominantly concerned with their own thoughts and feelings rather than with external things.

I did not answer this question as I was not certain of myself. I did not know whether I was an extrovert and introvert. Hence, I decided to put this question aside. When I was thinking of a topic to write for my journal entry, this question just popped up in my head.

Is there a right or wrong answer in this particular question? Will be deemed stupid if I gave an acceptable answer? These questions raced through my head as I did not know what to do. I guessed I am a bit of both maybe more to the duck side. When I am alone or with my good friends, I tend to be a ‘duck’ listening to what the others are saying. However, when I have to answer questions aloud, I will be a ‘dazzler’ speaking my answers with confidence, most of the time.

After some time, I realized that they are actually no right and wrong answer in this question. This question is about your personality. Whether you are person who shows your emotions and ‘secrets’ you have openly, preferably to classmates or close friends or a person who keeps everything to oneself, not revealing anything that you deemed is ‘confidential’ to anyone. I guess I am such a person. I am someone who does not reveal what I was thinking or my emotions to anyone, not even those who thought that they were my best friends. Due to the lack of trust I have for them, I will never attempt to reveal anything I think there was not a need for them to know. I remembered during primary school, I was actually a chatterbox of the class. Actually, I do not really know how to make someone truly happy. Hence, I thought of having a personality that is bubbly which allow everyone to know that I am a ‘dazzler’ and they can be friends with me. However, that did not work very well as I have never reveal my ‘secrets to anyone.

As you can see, I am something like a ‘duck’, an introvert who keeps everything to me. I do not really like to express my emotions or thoughts openly to anyone, except those that I thought they were really my closet friends. I would tend to act rather immature in their presence as I always wanted to have someone I can rely in school. I guessed I said too much.

I have not found any friends I really wanted in Victoria School. I do not like anyone who tries to act close to me when they are really not. I only like those friends that I deemed closer to me to do that. I may not find that kind of friends I really wanted in this year, or even in my whole secondary school life. However when I do, I will write about how wonderful and important those friends are to me or maybe how I have changed my mentality about true friends. With those friends, I think my personality will somehow change again. Maybe from a ‘duck’, I will truly change to a ‘dazzler’. It is really exciting as I do not know what kind of person I will become. I think I will prefer to be a ‘dazzler’ instead of a ‘duck.
