IF they didn’t fix it , then they wouldn’t be able to travel. The railroad was their main source of of transportation . furthermore they had to rebuilt their plantation . It states under a picture in document 2 “ Ruins anof a plantation in a Columbia . South Carolina . This was a major renovation beacause that their source of food and wealth. They weren’t an industrial but instead agricultural . Due o this their source of bread is gone
