Dear editor to The Guardian,
On 23 January 2007, your newspaper published an article with the headline “How racist is Britain?”. In your article, Mr. Julian Baggini tells about his experiences in Rotherham and he explains why he does not believe that the British people are racists in general. In the article, Baggini argues that tolerance is the best we can hope for in a multicultural society, like Britain. I want to bring it up to your reader’s attention how big the problems with racism actually are.
In a modern country like Britain, there should not be any kind of segregation or assimilation. Julian Baggini describes how he repeatedly bumped into racially words, in the time he lived in Rotherham. I am outraged by the fact, how people use words like “Paki” and “Goreh”, as an ordinary way to mention different people from yourself. As a student in a school with many different nationalities, I know how important it is to respect each other and especially how important it is not to rank people by status or ethnic background. I speak from personal experience when I say that prejudices are destroyed in the moment you learn a person to know, whom you had prejudices against. How can we fight against prejudices? Baggini concludes that the best we can do is to hope for tolerance in a multicultural society. I have no doubt, that his conclusion is cursory and it will never be enough just to believe in a simple hope. I think we all have to do some more than just believe in a hope. My recommendation is that we all have to face the problems and realize that racism is a taboo subject. We have to strive after a community with successful integration. A community were people from different groups are treated as equals and do not feel a pressure from the…...

...How to be a Leading Finance Magazine— A Case Study of Caijing By Lin Hong GRADUATION PAPER May 19, 2010 Paper submitted to the School of Magazineism and Communication of Xiamen University in partial fulfillment of requirements for the bachelors degree. Zhuang Hongming was faculty adviser. ABSTRACT Wang Shuo, the deputy editor of Caijing, a famous finance magazine for its specific editing style in China, said: “We are doing everything possible while the main line has never changed. We report events we think readers should focus on, and stories we consider to be important but not completely to follow market rules. It is not a magazine that simply caters to readers’ taste, but one that is of enlightenment, and of elitist thoughts. " "Independent, exclusive, original" is always the rule that Caijing has been following. Then how the magazine implements the rule successfully is what this research is concerned about, because in today’s chaotic magazine market, manage a magazine in a specific way is a problem related to survival and development. Therefore, the hints from the study of Caijing are significant to the magazine industry. That is the purpose of this paper. The Media Front in Kenya’s 2011 Military Invasion of Somalia

...liaison between me and the university. I would not have made it this far without Mr Pawas and Andy’s help. I would also like to thank Mr Kamwaro of The Standard Library and Eric Njoka of Daily Nation’s for the cooperation they accorded me during the long hours I spent at their libraries. This work would have made no sense with the input of The Daily Nation Newspaper’s news editor Eric Shimoli and Senior reporter John Ngirach as well as the Standard’s Foreign Editor Andrew Kipkemboi and Senior reporter Cyrus Ombati. Through candid interviews these respected journalists gave me invaluable information. Finally I would like to express special thanks to all the other people, whose names are not listed here, for their help and willingness to explain their opinion, and to share their stories. ABSTRACT The study is a content analysis of The Daily Nation and The Standard newspapers in Kenya; the two leading dailies with widest range of coverage. It examines how the print media covered the Kenyan military incursion into Somalia in 2011. Content analysis was supplemented by in-depth interviews from the editors of both newspapers under study and journalists who covered the incursion. The results show that the Daily Nation had the highest number of articles published compared to the Standard newspaper. It emerged that since this was the first time Kenyan media was covering ‘their’ military in combat some journalists got carried away with cases of one-sided stories......

...single topped the Billboard Hot 100,[72] for one week.[73][74] "Something"/"Come Together" thereby became the Beatles' eighteenth number 1 single in the US, surpassing Elvis Presley's record of seventeen.[75] As the preferred side, "Something" was also number 1 in Canada (for five weeks), Australia (five weeks), West Germany (two weeks), New Zealand and Singapore.[67] On the US listings compiled by Cash Box magazine, which continued to rank each song separately, "Something" peaked at number 2 and "Come Together" spent three weeks at number 1.[76] The combined sides reached number 4 in Britain.[77] There, the release was highly unusual,[5] given the traditional preference for non-album singles;[78] in addition, according to former Mojo editor Paul Du Noyer, "so enormous were sales of Abbey Road that demand for the single was inevitably dampened."[10] On 17 February 1999, "Something" was certified double Platinum by the RIAA.[2] In its 2014 list titled "The Beatles' 50 Biggest Billboard Hits", Billboard places the double A-side single in sixth place, immediately after "Let It Be" and ahead of "Hello, Goodbye".[79] Promotional video[edit] The promotional video for "Something" was shot shortly after Lennon had privately announced that he was leaving the band. By this time, the individual Beatles had drawn apart and so the film consisted of separate clips of each Beatle walking around his home, accompanied by his wife, edited together. The film was directed by Neil......

...long, ‘Momonga’-sama.” The Elder Black Ooze replied with a voice of an adult male, but in comparison to the Overlord, there was no trace of what could be called vigor or liveliness. “This is the first time since you changed your job in real life, so how long has it been? … Hasn’t it been like two years?” “Ah — that seems about right. Wow~ It’s been that long already… Oh boy, my sense of time is out of whack because I’ve been doing nightly overtime shifts everyday lately.” “Isn’t that a really dangerous sign? Are you okay?” “Physically? I’m in complete rags. It’s not so much as to visit a doctor, but I’m almost on the verge of it. I seriously want to run away. Still, I have to earn money to make ends meet, so I’m working for my dear life while being whipped like a slave.” “Wow…” The Overlord—Momonga tilted his head back and made an irritated gesture. “Really, it’s unbearable.” Meromero’s gloomy voice, laden with an incredible sense of reality, flew towards Momonga as if to inflict a follow-up strike. His complaint in regards to work in the real world accelerated further. Stories about impudent subordinates, plans that were completely altered overnight, criticism from his superior for failing to meet his quota, days pulling all-nighters due to shitloads of work, abnormal weight increase from his ruined biorhythm, the growing number of drugs with each passing day. Eventually, the conversation turned one-sided as Meromero’s gripe burst out like......

Gandhiji’s Correspondence with the Government, p. 226 6. The news which I read in the papers was read out by me to Ba. Thereupon with tears in her eyes Ba said: “Oh God (Rama) I am at death’s door and I am not taken away while Ranjit is taken away! What will happen to Sarup?” I did not feel like that. You cannot become helpless. You are a brave daughter of a brave father, and brave sister of a similarly brave brother. The disease of Ranjit was such that he had to go before his time. His body was not meant to suffer jail life. But all these are my imaginations. The fact is that God gives you birth and whenever He likes He takes you up. And this is all for the body. Soul, however, neither takes birth nor dies.......

The Story of My Life

...her education she cannot explain herself, and since a knowledge of that is necessary to an understanding of what she has written, it was thought best to supplement her autobiography with the reports and letters of her teacher, Miss Anne Mansfield Sullivan. The addition of a further account of Miss Keller's personality and achievements may be unnecessary; yet it will help to make clear some of the traits of her character and the nature of the work which she and her teacher have done. For the third part of the book the Editor is responsible, though all that is valid in it he owes to authentic records and to the advice of Miss Sullivan. The Editor desires to express his gratitude and the gratitude of Miss Keller and Miss Sullivan to The Ladies' Home Journal and to its editors, Mr. Edward Bok and Mr. William V. ...generated. No doubt, father of Jurisprudence, Bentham, not only describe antipathy as the deciding factor of law and legislation but also as an exercise which cause a powerful influence over the morals of man. As Bentham defined antipathy in six distinct parts as repugnance of sense, wounded pride, individual resistance and power, confidence in future, desire of unanimity and last but not the least envy. Bentham describes it as a cause that gives rise to the feeling of sympathy in the society. The theory of pleasure and pain is described as a test through which sanctions may be formed. Undoubtedly pleasure and pains are corresponding to each other but sometimes the pain is too severe to explain not only to a particular but also for their near and dear along with the attached part of society, this type of pain is really questionable that whether it can be perfectly cured by any law by the end of subject matter or to left the subject matter in its position to fight with its pain. In fact pain and sufferings in the way of dying is a more terrible lord of mankind than even death itself. Here, it can be said “It is not death one fears to face, but dying”. It means that one does not fear to face the darkness of death but fears to go through the sufferings in dying when everyone knows the result- that is, ultimately the end of subject matter. To give the end to the subject matter in a spite of unbearable sufferings and pain where death is certain, is known as concept of euthanasia.......
