Deepak Chopra
Introduction
The person I have chosen as a role model is Deepak Chopra. Through my essay, I will explain the worldview of Deepak Chopra and significance of his worldview in his life. I will compare and contrast Deepak Chopra’s values and actions to my worldview and values. First, I will compare my nature of God view to Deepak Chopra’s view of the nature of God. Second, I will compare my view of sexuality to Deepak Chopra’s view of sexuality. Third, I will compare my money and career views to those of Deepak Chopra. Lastly, I will support an explanation by providing reasons why I believe Deepak Chopra is a perfect role model.
Compare/Contrast the Values and Actions of Deepak Chopra with My Worldview and Experiences
Nature of God
I believe Deepak Chopra has a secular spirituality worldview (Frye, 2013) because he believes God is the creator of the universe who is within each one of us. Deepak Chopra is an endocrinologist who now practices the alternative medicine of Ayurveda, which has its roots as an ancient Indian medicine. Ayurveda medicine is a way of keeping one’s “body, mind, and spirit in perfect equilibrium with nature” (Das, n.d.). Dr. Chopra believes God reveals Himself to us through our spiritual practices and God does not reveal Himself to us solely because we believe (Roff, 2009). After reading about Deepak Chopra and his worldview, I would say that I have beliefs about God that are similar to those of Deepak Chopra. I believe that God is the creator of the universe and that God is inside each of us, waiting to be discovered. I also believe in the power of being able to heal oneself from within.
Sexuality
In my opinion, I feel that Deepak Chopra has a liberated view of sexuality. In a blog, Deepak Chopra discussed sexuality as being led naturally to what feels right for oneself (Chopra, 2012). I am in agreement with Deepak Chopra’s view of sexuality as what feels natural to oneself. My belief is similar because I believe that true love knows no boundaries. If two people love each other, then they should be together. Whether they are two men or two women or a man and a woman, these couples should be allowed to be joined together through marriage.
Money/Career
Deepak Chopra was born and raised in India to a mother who is Hindu and a father who is Hindu and Sikh. Deepak Chopra received a Catholic education while living in India (Frye, 2013). In India, they believe you get out of life what you put into life. Deepak Chopra feels that there are several rules for success in life. Deepak Chopra believes that there are seven spiritual laws for success in life – potentiality and infinite possibilities; receiving back what you give; karma (what goes around, comes around ); use the least amount of effort by doing less and accomplishing more; having an intention or desire for something; staying focused on your end goal; Dharma, your life purpose (Chopra, 2012). Dr. Chopra’s views of the spiritual laws for success are similar to my views for money and career. I believe that if you envision yourself as what you want to be and to have, you can manifest your dreams and goals. I use a vision board to help me keep focused on my dreams and goals. By having a constant visual reminder, I am prompted to spend time mediating on what I want, where I want to go, and what I want to do.
Would I Choose Deepak Chopra As My Role Model?
I would chose Deepak Chopra a role model because he is well versed in a variety of topics and can provide objective views on topics such as religion due to his home life as a child growing up in India. Deepak Chopra teaches us to harness the power of God from within us. When we look inside of ourselves, we find our true self, the person God wants us to be. Deepak Chopra is a person I would model myself after.
Conclusion
In this essay, I have chosen Deepak Chopra as a person who would make a great role model. I have described his worldview and his worldview’s impact on his life and career. I have compared Deepak Chopra’s values and actions with my own experiences. This was accomplished by first comparing his view on the Nature of God to my own views. Next, I compared Deepak Chopra’s views on sexuality to my views on sexuality. Last, I compared the money and career views of Deepak Chopra to my views. Through this essay, I have shown that Deepak Chopra would make a good role model for anyone.

They ignite our passion and inspire us to do our best. Government leaders in the 21st century are experiencing change at a more rapid pace than previous generations. Rapid advances in technology have expanded the quantity of work we are capable of accomplishing, and also where it’s accomplished. We have a more highly educated workforce, yet face diminishing resources with an increased demand for productivity, and the essential services we provide to the American public. To be successful at navigating these challenges leaders must develop the essential skills to motivate their employees, effectively communicate with others, fine-tune critical thinking skills, and build and leverage partnerships. Future leaders must also be visionary; i.e., possess the ability to identify trends and the courage to be innovative. Being technically adept in your field will no longer be enough. In response to these demands on senior executives, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management identified five Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) that all aspiring government leaders and executives must possess.
