The work created for this project is a new, revised infographic syllabus. This creation was in response to the controversy over the need of sex education. Sex education was created in the 20th century because many Americans started getting sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) as well as military personnel involved in the world wars. As STDs became rampant, bureaucracies started creating programs that would inform and educate individuals about sex, its factors, and consequences. By the end of the 20th century, sex education became prominent. While there are many sex education programs, people question the effectiveness of the course. I decided to make an infographic syllabus was better because I could include important elements and add aesthetic value to the syllabus. This kind of syllabus is more appealing and I have more freedom to choose background colors, designs, pictures, and text fonts. With the regular word document, the syllabus would look simple and bland. It would not contain pizzazz As a result of making the infographic syllabus, I was able to make the points across concisely and visually. This was a big dilemma because many individuals think that sex education is very ineffective and a waste of time. Sex education is not a waste of time but there are flaws in the curriculum that make students think like it is a waste of time. For instance, many sex education courses rely on just textbooks and PowerPoints and not an actually teaching and understanding of concepts. Also, there is not a lot of application scenarios and events connecting the material covered in the course. Therefore, I decided to make a revised, infographic syllabus. It highlights the concepts we will learn, the various methods of learning, both objective and subjective, as well as participation in field trips like hospitals, clinics and presenters coming to class.
