The Los Angeles City Council of District 9th is Curren Price. City Councilmember, Price, has served the neighborhood for around 6 years. His first term in 2013 and later was reelected in 2017. Price serves the community om homeless and poverty, immigrant affairs, equity, parks, and civil rights. On top of this, Central Alameda Neighborhood Council has a total of 7 board members.
Social Issue One of the social issues in the neighborhood is identities in public space. As Alan Harding and Talja Bloland (2015) pointed out public space is produced as a system of meaning that brings power and hierarchy. Diversity and life styles connects to public space in communities, or in this case a neighborhood. When we focus on gender, race, age, income it portrays public space. Not only do these factor impact public space, but the most impact comes from culture.

Figure 1 is a new and remodeled home/apartment. Figure 1 was taken on 42nd and Hooper, as seen homes are being remodeled to be rented for families. After investigating, the average rent for a two bedroom is $1,500. As homes become more luxuries, rent increases. As a result, Figure 9 comes into the frame of inequalities in a public space. These families’ identities become homeless. They are also known as pavement homes. How do families end up in this situation? The result of inequalities, layoffs, and unemployment. Also, people with greater power build shopping centers, luxury offices, or apartments that are nor affordable. Families are left to live in unsanitary areas, such as, ramps, under bridges or alleys. Now let’s observe Figure 3, an empty spacious lot. Instead of building small affordable homes for those who are less fortunate, the city rather leave it as it

On Line Business Expansion

...Online Business Expansion Plan for Clovis Transit A1. Online Business Viability Clovis Transit is a public transportation agency located in the San Joaquin Valley of Central California. Clovis Transit provides two types of transportation – fixed route and paratransit. The fixed route service is called Stageline and runs regular routes throughout the city of Clovis proper and into some portions of the neighboring town, Fresno. The paratransit service is called RoundUp and provides service to disabled residents of the city. Clovis Transit is considered a mid-sized transit agency and provides approximately 300,000 trips per year. The city brands itself in the western motif with the goal of maintaining a small-town feel and personality while still serving a population of just short of 100,000 citizens. Passengers who use Clovis Transit fall into three main categories: low income, student, and disabled riders. These riders are considered “transit dependent” which means they have no other choice for transportation beyond the bus and therefore marketing has remained a low priority. The City of Clovis maintains a website that provides access to all its departments including Transit. The Transit department’s website currently contains basic information about the services offered and various forms and documents that can be downloaded by the user. Because the department serves two distinct customer groups, regular fixed-route transit riders and disabled citizens, there is an opportunity...

...Starbucks and the Lifecycle of Specialty Coffee: An Industry Evolving Introduction Today we stand witness to a new coffee era, one made up of Caffé Lattes, Espresso Macchiatos, Cappuccinos and Frappuccinos. Specialty Coffee is here to stay and no one will be more eager to tell you that than Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, the world’s largest specialty coffee bar. The study of Starbucks Corporation leads one on a multifaceted journey through an organization’s insinuation into a culture, its dominance of a market and its creation of a brand synonymous with loyalty, integrity and longevity. Understanding Starbucks’ development into an international giant and the strategic approach they took to get there begins with the origins of coffee itself. Ever since it first spread through the Moslem world in the sixteenth century, coffee has played a pivotal role in society by providing meeting places for intellectuals from all sides of life to converge. As coffee was slowly introduced to the European world it was recognized for both its sociability and its taste. Soon Coffee houses were prevalent throughout Europe and were the natural locations for political, literary and societal debate. It crossed the Atlantic Ocean in the mid-seventeenth century and replaced beer as New York City’s favorite morning drink. It can be said that the Boston Tea Party was the beginning of not one but two major revolutions in America. The first was the revolt of the colonists against England...

Operation Strategy Quality Measures

...The Role and Measurement of Quality in Competition Analysis 2013 The OECD Competition Committee discussed the role and measurement of quality in competition analysis in June 2013. This document contains an executive summary of that debate and the documents from the meeting: an analytical note by the OECD staff and written submissions: Australia, Canada, Chile, the European Union, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, United Kingdom, Ukraine, United States and BIAC. A note by Theodore Voorhees Jr. as well as a detailed summary of the discussion are also included. Competition policy is just as concerned with quality as it is with prices. While the importance of quality is undisputed and issues about quality are mentioned pervasively in competition agency guidelines and court decisions, there is no widely-agreed framework for analysing it which often renders its treatment superficial. There are a number of reasons why in practice, courts and competition authorities rarely analyse quality effects as rigorously as they analyse price effects. First, quality is a subjective concept and therefore much harder to define and measure than prices. In addition, microeconomic theory offers little help in predicting how changes in the level of competition in a market will affect quality and it is usually up to empirical analysis to determine how quality will change in response to varying degrees of competition in the context of particular markets. Given difficulties in terms of the evaluation...

Homeless Youth

...Homeless Youth: Research, Intervention, and Policy by Karen Spuriel Coleman- MBA Abstract Homelessness among youth in the U.S. is disturbingly common, with an estimated annual prevalence of at least 5 percent for those ages 12 to 17. Although homeless youth appear throughout the nation, they are most visible in major cities. Rigorous research on this special population is sparse, making it difficult to capture an accurate and complete picture. Despite its limitations, recent research describes homeless youth as a large and diverse group. Many homeless youth have multiple overlapping problems including medical, substance abuse, and emotional and mental problems. Literature suggests that comprehensive and tailored services are needed that address both the immediate and long-term needs of homeless youth. Where appropriate, services should include assistance with meeting basic needs as perceived by youth as a gateway to other needed services. In addition to serving those already homeless, interventions are needed to prevent homelessness among at-risk youth. Lessons for Practitioners, Policy Makers, and Researchers • As used here, the term “homeless youth” focuses on minors who have experienced literal homelessness on their own—i.e., who have spent at least one night either in a shelter or "on the streets" without adult supervision. On occasion, where warranted by the research being discussed, the term is also used to describe homeless young adults up to age 24. • Homelessness...
