A teenage boy just old enough to drive, found himself sitting in a church pew, singing familiar hymns and listening to the Southern Baptist preacher bring the message to the congregation. Logan Denson felt this tug at his heart strings and knew it was the Lord calling him to preach. Because of his young age, Denson ran from the calling. Months later, Denson attended a youth revival, where he heard one of his friends preaching. The friend also got the call to preach at a young age. “If a 16 year-old can do it,” Denson said. “Surely I can do it.” Denson said after the youth revival, he spoke to his home church pastor about exploring his possibilities as a pastor. Denson said he expressed to one of the friends that he was in the search of a church in the Livingston area. The three traveled 20 miles outside of Livingston to Briggs Chapel. Denson said after the first Sunday at Briggs Chapel, he knew this would become his church while he was away from home. “After taking to Brother Nick, it felt like a really good place for me to continue to grow and become a better man, preacher and man of God,” Denson said. Nick Holden, Briggs Chapel’s preacher, is always looking people to fill the pulpit for him on Sundays. Denson said he has really connected with Holden and the congregation at Briggs Chapel. Through friendly conversation, Denson told Holden he had preached before, and it is something he would like to continue to do. After a few months of Denson attending Briggs Chapel, Holden extended the invitation to Denson to bring a message on a Sunday Holden would be absent. Denson said he was very excited and accepted the offer. “I’ve discerned that he is confident, courageous and compassionate,” Holden said. “His confidence is manifested in his sense of duty and loyalty.” Denson said he actually recycled that first message he preach at Liberty Baptist.
