Finger Lickin’ Good!

One of my favorite things to make for dinner is my juicy, deep-fried, finger lickin’ good, chicken wings. From the moist crispy skin, to the succulent white meat, it’s a mouth-watering delight. Everyone loves my chicken and asks me to make it for parties or gatherings. Often my boyfriend helps me prepare the chicken, which is a nice way for us to spend time together and I get to teach him how to cook.

First you will have to make sure you have all the necessary ingredients and if not then you will have to make a list and go to the super market. Depending on how many people you will be serving will determine how many pounds of chicken to buy. 2-pound party wings are enough to feed my boyfriend and me. I like to use a blend of seasonings that consists of Lawry’s season salt, Goya adobo, Goya sazon, and any brand garlic salt and black pepper. You’ll need flour, eggs, and milk for the batter, and oil to fry the chicken. Nonfood items needed are a deep fryer, a bowl for mixing and an extra-large Zip Lock bag.

After you gather all the ingredients you’ll start by filling the deep fryer half way and heating it up to 425 degrees F. Wash the chicken thoroughly and add the seasonings, then set aside to make the batter. In a bowl beat 2 eggs, ¼ cup milk and a dash of the seasoning mixture. Get a zip lock bag and fill the bag half way with the flour, adding some of the seasoning mixture to season the flour. Dip the chicken wings into the egg then place in the zip lock bag and shake it. You can do 2 to 3 pieces at a time. Once the deep fryer has heated up place battered chicken inside and cook for 20-30 minutes. Chicken should turn a nice golden brown color and the skin should be crunchy when cooked.

Everyone loves chicken and it is so much better when homemade. Now that you have my mouth watering recipe you can experience for yourself why my chicken is so finger lickin’ good.

Job Description

...Analyzing a Job - Rewriting a Job Description Marc Kahue HRM531 March 12, 2012 A. Muse Analyzing a Job - Rewriting a Job Description With a variety of age cohorts seeking employment, some would prefer to traditionally walk through a business’ front door and personally inquire of any job openings. Others would prefer to frequent different job search engines on the Internet in the comfort of their own home. Websites such as www.monster.com, www.careerbuilder.com, and www.simplyhired.com are great tools for job seekers and job postings are listed by date. For this analysis, the popular website used to search for a job posting is www.indeed.com and the selected job position is for a Target Team Leader in San Diego, California. The analysis will include the identified need, strategy, performance requirements, and the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) required to satisfy the operational gap within the organization. The need identifies the open position to fill and why it is necessary for an organization to create a job position, while the strategy covers the approach used to outline the position’s details. The duties of the position will be included in the performance requirements and its distinction from KSAs will be explained as well. For most, job postings are a potential employee’s initial point of contact with a given organization and the posting itself can identify the need of the organization. Looking at Target’s job posting on www.indeed.com, and after careful...

Comparing Job Descriptions

...Comparing Job Descriptions 8/18/2012 In writing a job description, it is important for the job description to be clear and specific. In comparing different job descriptions, you will notice the differences. If a clear meaning is not shown, the employee will not have a clear understanding what is expected of them. I compared two job descriptions, and this is what I came up with. In Managing Human Resources (Snell, Bohlander 2013 pg.153) job descriptions should have the job title and location section, a jobs identification section, and a job duties section. Both, job descriptions did include this information, but the title headings were labeled differently. In the identification section, the job of retail manager, listed online, lacked the information of who the employee reports to and the date the information was last revised. There is no way of knowing if the information is up to date, as job duties tend to change in the ever changing business industry. In the Employment Assistant job description there is two sections, one titled “job statement” and the other titled “essential functions” (Snell, Bohlander 2013 pg. 154) that list the job duties, functions, and responsibilities. There is much more of a description listed of what is to be expected of the employee on this job description. On the retail store manager description it is titled “your role” (Lifetouch Portrait Studios, Inc.), and it contains much less information...

6. Do You Think Companies Can Really Do Without Detailed Job Descriptions? Why or Why Not?

...6. Do you think companies can really do without detailed job descriptions? Why or why not? In one firm – British petroleum’s exploration division- the need for more efficient, flexible, flatter organizations and empowered employees prompted management to replace job descriptions with matrices listing skills and skill levels. Senior managers wanted to shift employees attention from a job description “that’s not my job” mentality to one that would motivate them to obtain the new skills and competencies they needed to accomplish their broader responsibilities. They created skills matrix which listed basic skills needed for that job, minimum level of each skill required for that job or job family. Emphasis is no longer on specific job duties, but on specifying and developing new skills and gave employees constant reminder of what skills they must improve. 1. What is the difference between reliability and validity? In what respects are they similar? Reliability describes the consistency of scores obtained by the same person when retested with the identical or alternate forms of the same test. If a person scores 90 on an intelligence test when retested the result should be the same. Validity indicates whether a test is measuring what it is supposed to be measuring. With employee selection tests, validity often refers to evidence that the test is job related. Reliability and validity are used in statistics and research design. At best, we have a measure that has both...

Intro to Human Resources Unit 2: Chapter 5 Questions

...Chapter 5 Questions 1. What is a job analysis? Why should a company perform job analysis for the organization's jobs? Job Analysis refers to the various methods that are used to analyze the requirements of the job. Two tools used for this include the job description and mission statement of an organization. Organizations should always perform job analysis for their jobs to ensure their employee selection is valid and defensible; thus accurately measuring the requirements of the job itself in a fair and reliable way. Essentially, a valid selection procedure should effectively measure whether or not the applicant’s qualifications match those that are needed for the job, and not much more or less. 2. Describe three major methods or techniques that organizations use for job analysis process. Three major techniques utilized by organizations and companies in the job analysis process include Narrative Job Analysis, Task-Analysis Inventory, and the Position Analysis Questionnaire. Narrative Job Analysis is a narrative or descriptive set of information about a particular job or position within an organization. The quality of the information contained in the description typically depends on the writing skills of the analyst. Reader Response

...the author is retelling the events of an early childhood experience from the viewpoints of herself as an adult. Ms. Dillard’s essay uncovers the differences between how adults and children view the world and seek happiness. However, there are a couple points to this essay. It seems as though, one of the author’s main points was to convey the message that some of the simplest moments in her life were also the happiest and most memorable. For example, she says, “I got in trouble throwing snowballs, and have seldom been happier since”. Also, I noticed that the author seemed to be motivated to inspire readers to chase life’s experiences passionately until one is satisfied. In the essay the author uses two rhetorical modes: narration and description. Ms. Dillard uses narration to describe her perspective of what it was like to be a child in America. In addition to using narration she also describes the intricate details of that particular winter day “Six inches of new snow had just fallen. We were standing up to our boot tops in snow on a front yard trafficked Reynolds Street slowly and evenly; they were targets all but wrapped in red ribbons, cream puffs.” (91). In relation to the unit theme: The shaping of Identity this writing piece uses an autobiographical narrative and flashback writing techniques to portray the American Childhood. Ms. Dillard’s perspective of an American childhood was quite accurate and helped me to remember my own childhood. I really enjoyed that her essay...
