As tutors, you are expected to:
Have a strong knowledge of the specific area(s) that you tutor and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5.
Generally, be at least a third term student, but transfer students will be evaluated on an individual basis.
Tutor students individually, in groups, or in mini-sessions in specific subject areas using approaches that address the learning needs of the student to become successful independent learners and to avoid at all costs doing their homework.
Always display an attitude that supports a learning environment: in other words, be professional, caring, positive, and outreaching.
Use computer, books, and other resources of the ASC, the library, and the faculty to prepare for tutoring and mini-sessions.
Use academic and leadership strengths to constantly improve your knowledge and tutoring approaches.
Attend training workshops and other meetings in order to meet certification requirements and to increase competency.
If leading mini-sessions, provide for close communication, coordination with course faculty member and attend course as needed.
Provide overall academic leadership and special initiatives for projects which help promote student learning.
Complete tutor Training 1 (tutor Certification).
Be prompt and prepared for all tutoring sessions. You must call your supervisor’s office with as much lead time as possible if you cannot meet an appointment.
Provide special assistance as needed to special needs students (disability, ESL, poor learners, etc.).
Always display a team approach by working together smoothly with other Tutors, using each other’s strengths and resources, and providing mutual support to them.
Discuss difficult tutoring situation with your supervisor and refer students to him/her.
Maintain student CONFIDENTAILITY at all times.
Try to commit to working at least two full semesters.

In comparing different job descriptions, you will notice the differences. If a clear meaning is not shown, the employee will not have a clear understanding what is expected of them. I compared two job descriptions, and this is what I came up with. In Managing Human Resources (Snell, Bohlander 2013 pg.153) job descriptions should have the job title and location section, a jobs identification section, and a job duties section. Both, job descriptions did include this information, but the title headings were labeled differently. Ms. Dillard’s essay uncovers the differences between how adults and children view the world and seek happiness. However, there are a couple points to this essay. It seems as though, one of the author’s main points was to convey the message that some of the simplest moments in her life were also the happiest and most memorable. For example, she says, “I got in trouble throwing snowballs, and have seldom been happier since”. Also, I noticed that the author seemed to be motivated to inspire readers to chase life’s experiences passionately until one is satisfied. In the essay the author uses two rhetorical modes: narration and description. Ms. Dillard uses narration to describe her perspective of what it was like to be a child in America.
