...Article Title Page The moderating role of supply network structure on the customer integration–efficiency relationship Author Details Prof. Pamela Danese Department of Management and Engineering, University of Padova, Vicenza, Italy. Prof. Pietro Romano Department of Electrical, Managerial and Mechanical Engineering, University of Udine, Udine, Italy Corresponding author: Pietro Romano Corresponding Author’s Email: pietro.romano@uniud.it Structured Abstract: Purpose: To study whether a fast supply network structure interacts with Customer Integration (CI) by positively moderating the relationship between CI and efficiency performance. Design/methodology/approach: Two hypotheses are developed, incorporating dimensions of Customer Integration, Fast Supply Network Structure and Efficiency performance. The hypotheses are tested through a hierarchical regression analysis using data from a sample of 200 manufacturing plants. Findings: CI alone is not enough to guarantee cost reductions because a fast supply network structure acts as a moderator of the CI-efficiency relationship. The role of this moderator is twofold. On the one hand, it interacts with CI, strengthening the positive impact of CI on efficiency through a positive complementary effect. On the other hand, if the supply network structure is not intended to support fast lead times, the impact of CI on efficiency can be hindered and, in extreme cases, CI can even make efficiency worse. Practical implications: Efficiency......

Developing and Managing Voter Registration

...MANAGING VOTERS REGISTRATION SYSTEM Introduction Voters’ registration is a process in which qualifying citizens are registered in order for them to be eligible to vote in an election. Voters registration is a process whose output is the voters’ roll which is basically a list containing the necessary details of all individuals who are eligible to cast their votes in an election. Governments operating under democratic principles around the world have to invest in this process in order to ensure smooth transition of power when time comes. Elections have been a major source of violence and consequently wars when one side feels that it wasn’t given a fair chance in the process. With this in mind, it is important for states to have proper voters roll in order to carry out elections in a credible and peaceful manner. If this process is not conducted in a transparent and collaborative manner, the credibility of the election process will as well be put into jeopardy at the end of the day. It this process which sets the stage of an election to be acceptable or add more credible reasons to rendered the election as not free and fair. In Tanzania, early voters’ registrations involved writing details of voters in a ‘counter’ book and have that book retrieved for verification on the Election Day. Voters were not given any sort of identification for them to keep as a form of authentication; no photographs of the ‘would be’ voters were being taken or kept by the registration clerks.......

Registration Fustration

...Ronelle Professor Benas English 85 September 23, 2014   Registration Frustration On July 13, I decided to return to Merced College after not attending school for some time. Going back to school was a big decision that I thought about for the last two semesters. I always seem to have a lot going on and it was just something that crossed through my mind from time to time. I never imagined I could find a way to make it happen until the day I decided that I needed to go back to college. Upon enrolling in school, I have experienced college-related stress while registering, financing my education, and enrolling in classes. In the summer of 2014, I was looking at the college website attempting to figure out the process for registering at Merced College. While looking at the website, I could not find the assessment testing schedule. I knew previously I had seen the schedule online, but I couldn’t find it this time. It was a mistake to assume that the college was not offering assessment testing during the summer. A professor from Merced College checked into the motel where I work. She stated she needed time away from home to grade papers. I started to talk to her and mentioned to her I wanted to attend college, but I could not find the assessment dates. She advised me to start the registration process then go to the college and I could find out the dates from there. She then encouraged me by saying I was making an excellent decision to return to school and wished......

The initiative was taken by the company in April 1989 by sending senior executives to the USA on a Deming’s Seminar on TQM missions. This was essentially to create an awareness about TQM and its implementation aspects. Based on this awareness and learning, these senior executives in turn created a similar awareness among other senior managers and middle-level managers. In January 1990, a Quality Secretariat comprising senior managers of the company was formed. It was entrusted with implementing TQM and formulated a five-year aggregate plan. Towards the end of 1990, it was decided to start the TQM process with a pilot scheme in the furniture division. The......
