Britney Spears’ Burnout Many people know of the difficulties that Britney Spears, a popular singer, has experienced. News cameras and paparazzi followed her around everywhere until Britney finally had a mental breakdown. She went through a divorce with her husband and father of her two kids, Kevin Federline, she shared a kiss with Madonna on stage at one of her concerts, she shaved her head completely leaving her bald, was admitted to a rehabilitation center, and had her father take over her finances. These are only a few things that Britney Spears experienced due to her psychological disorder. One might ask, “What kind of psychological disorder must Britney Spears have if she had gone through all this turmoil that turned her life upside down?” The answer is that Britney Spears must have been suffering from a combination of major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder. (“Britney Spears Has,” n.d.). Bipolar disorder is defined as a disorder in which episodic depressed mood and episodic mania are prevalent. Bipolar disorder is also split into two sections; Bipolar I and Bipolar II. Bipolar I is when full blown mania and major depression are present at different times. Bipolar II is when hypomania alternates with major depression. This means that a person suffering from this disorder is extremely happy and prospering one day and extremely upset and depressed the next, clearly abnormal behavior. Major depressive disorder is defined as a persistent sad mood that impairs a person’s ability to enjoy normally enjoyable activities. The DSM-5 describes it as an episodic illness with people having either one or multiple episodes that are separated by different moods, very similar to bipolar disorder. Symptoms of this disorder may include feelings of insignificance, psychomotor retardation, loss of energy, feelings of guilt, being at risk of self-harm, crying spells,

There are many causes of eating disorders, including biological, psychological and/or environmental abnormalities. Many people with eating disorders suffer also from body dysmorphic disorder, altering the way a person sees himself or herself. There are also many other possibilities such as environmental, social and interpersonal issues that could promote and sustain these illnesses. Contemporary actor and comic Dan Aykroyd admits he has been diagnosed with Asperger's Spectrum Disorder. (Ewing) This should help to prove my original thesis statement: people diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome can function as well in performing arts as persons who are not diagnosed. To diagnose persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder, the doctor will start by performing a complete medical history followed by a physical and neurological exam. One definition of Asperger’s defines it as a “natural way by which some perceive the world from an alternate Adduce 8 perspective and logic, creating misunderstandings, misinterpretations, and social challenges when one attempts to assimilate with the world at large” (Everything Parent’s Guide) . ...hurt merchants and credit-card issuers than the consumer. The financial burden shifts from the consumer to the either the merchant or the issuer when purchases are made with stolen credit card numbers. (Miller & Jentz, 2012) My particular world of business consists of healthcare-related information. For example, being a healthcare carrier, our company stores health information as well as personal information. Names, social security numbers, health diagnoses, etc., are readily available throughout our organization. Not only is this information extremely important to protect, but in the event of someone having a personal health policy, they may have banking information in our system as well in order to automatically have their monthly premiums deducted. This information can consist of credit card numbers and/or bank account and routing numbers. If someone outside the company were to hack into the system, they would have a plethora of information to choose from. Additionally, if we happened to have a celebrity or otherwise important person of interest in our system, their health information would also be readily available. This can lead to a HIPAA issue, even if unintentional. For example, a few years ago, an employee at a local hospital here in the Detroit area posted on Facebook that she came face-to-face with a cop killer. She lost her job. She potentially put this person in danger by indirectly giving the suspect’s...

Milk

...Jacob Jones PSY 290 Milk Ads The ad I chose is one of the most successful Got Milk? Line of advertising, this provides several options for the designers to play with, in conjunction with the layouts and therein, their connotation. Featuring Aerosmith's Steve Tyler, the ad is a picture window with a relatively humorous connotation. The slang copy with unfinished words such as "growing'’ reflect the laid-back attitude exhibited by the star, and is meant to refer to younger audiences who speak the same kind of dialect. Her sitting position also exhibits how the jeans claim to stretch, as she looks comfortable and laid-back in bare feet. Her young yet mature age is also relevant to the audience, being that the magazine is aimed at an audience of women in their late teens and twenties. The physical positioning of Tyler's hands draw the viewer's attention inwards towards the milk mustache and his also famous kisser. The advertisement industry is a clever one, with several tricks to catch and simultaneously fool the eye, all the while achieving the overall previously mentioned effect. This forces the reader to look twice, to discern the sex of the featured model, and also to return to confirm the familiarity of the specific face. Following our current path, we return back down the other side of the leg to the waist of the jeans, where we see the woman's bellybutton is pierced, meaning to emphasize just how low the jeans truly are. ...Music is more than hearing a favorite song on the radio or a popular artist on stage performing in front of thousands of people. Although that maybe a great way to start someone’s day, music is bigger than celebrities are. In today’s society, music is changing people’s lives. Music is now more capable of changing someone rather than just riding to tunes on the way to the grocery store. Music has served as medicine to help those who are incompetent, struggling with disabilities, the elderly, and children. Music is therapy. Transition Into Adulthood with Asperger’s Disorder

...disorders and if there was a correlation between them and Asperger’s or if co-morbid disorders went along with Asperger’s. Asperger’s disorder is a Pervasive Developmental Disorder that is characterized by significantly impaired social development, obsessive-compulsive-like behaviors, and typically developing language and self-advocacy skills (Robinson, Curwen and Ryan, 2012). Males are diagnosed more than females. Robinson, Curwen and Ryan said that it is similar to Autistic Disorder, but from other studies I have read Asperger’s would be better grouped as a sub group of Autistic Disorder. I feel this way because they share similar attributes but the main difference is with Autism it can be diagnosed as a child however it is harder to diagnose Asperger’s in a young child. Asperger’s could also be seen as a High Functioning Autistic, this is why when people think of Autism they feel it is better to have Asperger’s than Autism. This makes looking at studies a little more difficult since some researchers group them all together instead of looking at them separately. People with Asperger’s tend to be more anxious than the normative groups. The normative groups are people with a disorder that is not associated with Autism or Asperger’s. Studies of the children would sometimes have the parents fill out information. Parents thought Autistic children are less anxious than...

...Professional Roles and Values Danielle Cote Western Governors University Professional Roles and Values Nursing in the 21st century has evolved immensely since the days of Florence Nightingale, not only with medicines but also with the care of patients. Because of these changes and growth the code of ethics was developed and regulatory agencies were created to help and guide nurses. There are numerous professional nursing organizations, many catering to a nurses personal career choice. As an Emergency Room Nurse belonging to the Emergency Nurses Association, one of the many professional nursing organizations, has proven to be an asset to my career. Their mission is to advocate for patient safety and excellence in the emergency nursing practice, (ENA 2015) which differs from the Board of Nursing. The Board of Nursing serves as a regulatory board, overseeing the practice and licensure of each nurse. Some professional nursing organizations, such as NSO, provide liability insurance to nurses. Other benefits of professional organizations may include free CE, preferred pricing on exams, resources, and networking. Being a member to both of the above organizations has given me peace of mind and continuous learning and growth in my nursing career. PNO functions are different from regulatory agency such as a regulatory agency has the power to revoke a nursing license or bring legal actions against a nurse but a PNO are mainly resources to enhance nurses.
