When it comes to the disadvantages of the person-focused pay system, I would say that the increase cost to company, pay system errors, and high cost incurred in designing pay program. When discussing the increased cost to the company, this is what an organization hates to hear but it is a factor when it comes to this pay program. Training cost, hourly cost, and overhead cost is a big factor and a disadvantage when it comes to a company and the use of this pay program. When you are dealing with highly skilled employees, this will cause one to distribute higher labor cost.
