Divorce Time to Say Goodbye When it comes to breaking-up and ending a relationship, the song by The Manhattans released in 1976 says it best “Let’s Just Kiss and Say Goodbye”. The song has deep and meaningful words, even though it is about a man ending his side relationship with his lover, it holds true for any relationship that is ending, especially a marriage. There are several reasons why people decide to dissolve their marriage. No matter, how they arrived at the decision, the end result not only affects them but it will affect the children, pets, family, and friends. They must determine the best way to inform their loved ones about the dissolution of the marriage. They must also decide who will have custody of the children and pets. When a man or woman is fed up with their spouse mishandling of finances, lack of communication and unfaithfulness; they feel divorce is the best solution. Money is a touchy topic regardless of the situation but there are several reasons why people may mishandle their finances. Although, the reasons may vary, some couples divorce over finances because of bad investments, addictions, and lack of maturity. A person should never invest their money into anything without a lack of understanding because when something sounds too good to be true it usually is and the damage it does cannot be changed. Addictions are no longer limited to drugs and alcohol; gambling and porn is on the rise as well. Gambling and purchasing porn can be done over the internet and the access charges can be catastrophic. Since men and women mature at different levels, getting married a young age can be difficult, especially if they have never experienced living on their own. If a person has never paid a bill or created a budget, they would not understand the concept of good credit and saving for the future, let alone running a household. When the funds are out of order or gone who does it affect? Of course the marriage but it also affects the children, pets, family and friends. How will the children college education be paid, or the veterinarian bill for the pet, or the debt that’s owed to a friend? Money is essential to life but when it is spent frivolously, invested badly, or used to overindulge it can end a marriage. Communication is the lifeline to all relationships and it is extremely important in a marriage. Avoiding one another, arguing, and making decisions without checking with one another are all non-communicating behavior. It is not healthy for a man or a woman to walk around tight lipped and giving each other the cold shoulder. Cursing and using hurtful words are even worst. Saying things that you know will hurt your spouse’s feelings is just plain mean. Also, obligating your spouse to host a party or fix someone’s car without consulting them is wrong. They may already have something else planned. Spouses that do not communicate have no idea of what is going on with their partner, children, family or the household. The children may think that yelling, cursing, and arguing is the proper way to communicate. They may think that that is how husbands and wives should treat one another and that that is a sign of love. Eventually, all of that disrespect leads to divorce because there is only so much verbal abuse one can take. Infidelity destroys trust. A person may seek attention outside of their marriage for many reasons; because their spouse is being unfaithful, their bored, or they feel unappreciated. Cheating is unhealthy and very bad for a marriage, regardless of the reason. When a man or woman feels that their spouse is being unfaithful they may hire a Private Investigator or have a friend follow him or her. After they receive proof or confirmation, they may start an extra marital affair as well. Now they both are out of order. People with too much idle time tend to get bored and that leads to looking for something exciting to do. They may start with something simple, like going to the gym or walking around the park. While at the gym or park, someone captures their attention and then a conversation starts. Before long, an affair has started and all of the sneaking around makes it even more exciting. Now they’ve found the cure to their tedium. Constant complaining and no complimenting can make a person feel bad. It can also lead them to finding appreciation from someone else. Ultimately, all of the sneaking around will have an effect on the children, pets, family and friends; called neglect. No one is available to help with homework, cook dinner, walk the dog, or play Taboo with and since the trust is gone, divorce is inevitable. Deciding it is over and throwing in the towel is not an easy thing to do. It is a decision that requires a lot of thought, soul searching, and weighing of the pros and cons because it affects others too. If there are children or pets involved, who will have custody? Can family and friends be divided as well or should the decision be left up to them? Most importantly, how and when is the best time to let everyone know that a divorce is on the horizon? Giving up is truly hard to do but when a spouse have put up with numerous indiscretions, unhealthy habits, and overdrawn bank accounts; the decision to end the marriage will come easy. All of those outside sources can damage any relationship and lead to distrust. Without trust any relationship destined for failure, especially a marriage.

...his father for a very long time. He hasn’t seen him due to the reason that his parents divorced eachother exactly three years ago. As a result of that, Charlie makes an appointment with his father, simply to see him again. During this appointment, they visit four different restaurants, where the father’s dissatisfaction and bad mood gets them kicked out every single time. While being in the restaurants, the father’s behaviour towards the employees is very aggressive and arrogant, which eventually results in them getting kicked out. After visiting a ton of restaurants, Charlie remembers that he has a train to catch. Time passes by and he has to leave. But, as he wants to leave, his father kindly offers him to purchase a newspaper – an offer he can’t refuse. While the father is ordering a newspaper, he yet again gets aggressive and angry with the employee working there. Charlie simply hasn’t got time to wait anymore as he’ll miss his train, so in a rush he manages to say goodbye and silently walks away. This was the last time he saw his father. From an environmental point of view, the story takes place at the Grand Central Station in New York City. As Grand Central Station is a train station, it is logical that both Charlie and his father go by train to meet up. In the story, we hear how Charlie schedules time to see his father while he waits for his next train. Therefore it seems like Charlie is used to travel by train, as he can schedule his time properly. He’s familiar with...

Bullriding

...To Young The Hardest Goodbye The creaking floor above my head awoke my deepest dreams, as I quickly sat up and ran to the doorway; I could hear the muffling sound of two people arguing. The constant pacing back and forth was my mother’s usual thing, knowing every footstep she took before she stepped into the other direction. One, Two, Three, Four and back again; her weeping voice was muffled from behind the doorway, I could only imagine her still face with piercing brown eyes staring up at my father as tears ran down her rosy circular cheeks. The pacing stopped, the muffled sound of her voice stopped, everything was still in just that moment. My body quickly crumpled to the floor in a fetal position as I realized she was gone. My sweaty palms ran through my dirty blonde hair and the sobbing began. “Suck it up” those words rang through my brain continuously haunting me, telling me to not show weakness! The words my father instilled in me when tears would even reach the corner part of my eyes. The words he knew made my body quiver at, because crying showed weakness, because crying was not condoned in the household. I was not able to say goodbye to the woman who was always there for me and as I sat on the floor merely at the age of five I realized all aspects of my world where crumbled into mere fragments of hope and possibility lost. Boom! Boom! Boom! His footsteps where drawing closer to my room, I quickly jumped to my feet and ran beneath the staircase; below the stairwell...

Sermon

...Good Bye and Good Riddance Pt 4 2nd Corinthians 2:5-11 Here we are the third Sunday in the New Year. We have closed out 2012 and here we stand in 2013. The start of a New Year is the perfect time for believers that desire to obtain the fullness of God in their lives, to reflect over their lives and see what things they need to say goodbye and good riddance to. Most often we notice the obvious, but through this message, were going to uncover was has hurt so many for so long. * On Dec 28th, in Time Square, Good Riddance Day was observed.… * This day was created, because even the world understands that we need to say “good riddance” to the pain and hurt of the past. * To do that we’re going to have to find the strength to say goodbye to anger, say good riddance to bitterness, and free ourselves of the malice toward those who have hurt us deeply. * Simply saying, we must learn to forgive. * Until we do that we can never go forward. * As long as we live in the past, we will be chained to the past, and the people who have hurt us deeply win a double victory! Once when they hurt us the first time and twice when we refuse to let go. Hurt doesn’t just happen in man/woman relationships…Hurt can happen in the church, on the job, between friends and family, hurt can happen in all areas of life. Most people stay in a place of confusion and stagnation, because they don’t know “How to Handle Anger and Bitterness.” We all struggle with broken relationships...

Personal Narrative

...reassured myself that things, yet again, would go my way and that I wouldn't even set a foot on that airplane— it was an erroneous assumption. The hardest moment approached: it was time to say goodbye. I wept like a baby and boarded the plane; I slept for most of the flight. The airplane landed at the JFK Airport in New York, my state of birth. My father was searching for my mom in the airport. I had a vague visual of her appearance from the pictures I had previously seen. When I first saw her she had a Tweety bird stuffed toy in her hand. It was the most adorable toy I had seen. As much as I wanted the toy, I hid behind my father’s leg for the reason that I was nervous. But I...

England's Rose

...I. INTRODUCTION To become a princess is part of almost every girl’s dream. Ever since the story of Cinderella, Snow White, and other fictional princesses have been told, many hoped of having the same destiny as they had. Some wish to wear a pretty tiara embedded with precious jewels, others just want to find and marry Prince Charming. The feeling of royalty at your feet would be so good to be true. A shy girl named Diana Spencer was given the opportunity to become a Princess of the English Monarchy. She had her very own tiara and married a handsome prince, just like in fairy tales. The beautiful young lady captured hearts around the world for her warm kindness and dedication towards the people. She became one of the world’s most glamorous and famous figures. Everyone thought that she was the luckiest and happiest girl living. But the ending of Princess Diana’s story didn’t turn out quite as expected, nor had a “happy ever after”. II. BODY Diana Frances Spencer was born on July 1, 1961 at Park House, the home that her parents rented on Queen Elizabeth II’s state at Sandringham and where her childhood playmates were the queen’s younger sons, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. Changes

...stories, “Reunion” by John Cheever and “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” by Joyce Oates, the genre Initiation/Rite of passage is expressed. In Cheever’s story a boy and fathers had been separated for a given amount of time, while in Oates’s story a teenaged girl experienced changes regarding emotions. As both stories experienced different examples of the genre, I feel as if they both offer good and bad examples throughout the stories. Summary Beginning the story, “Reunion”, the boy had taken a train from his grandmother’s home to a cottage that his mother had rented. While traveling, the boy, Charlie, had encountered a layover time in New York where his father worked. He had not seen his father during the past three years of his life because he had moved when they encountered the divorce. Therefore, Charlie had asked to meet his father for lunch during his layover time so that he could see him again. As they had gone from place to place to try to find a restaurant to eat because the father had possessed the habit of alcoholism and could not “carry himself” in a presentable manner, the time Charlie had in New York had elapsed. His father tried to purchase a paper for his son to read on the train home, but he argued with the seller and no longer had time available before his son was boarding his train to leave. As Charlie boarded his train...

Anne Bronte

...because they had little contact with the outside world, and together they went through many joyful moments. Anne and sister Emily had a strong bond and she influenced Anne’s writing because they wrote poems together. The Bronte sisters used poetry to express their feelings and thoughts. Within Anne’s poems “Farewell”, “A Hymn”, “My God! O Let Me Call Thee Mine”, “Weep not much”, and “In Memory of a Happy Day in February”, the reader can identify aspects of Anne’s radical character. Anne’s poems are considered controversial for the time period in which they were written because she talked about divorce and questioned God. People today can identify with her poems because today’s readers are more accustomed to the ideas portrayed through Anne’s writing. Everyone who endures life has the misfortune of experiencing death through the loss of a loved one and even though we deal with it in different ways we all feel pain. Anne’s poems were unusual to her time period because women were not supposed to have such radical opinions; however, it is logical that she...

My Past, Present and Future

...happen according to plan. In this paper, I will present a brief description of a few of my life experiences that have helped shape the person I am today and analyze some of these experiences using the adult development theories from this class. I will also look ahead to the goals I want to accomplish in the future. I grew up in a military family. Both my dad and my mother had enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after they graduated from high school, and they met when they were stationed at the same air base. As mom tells it, my dad asked her out on a date several times, but she always refused because she thought he was a little wild. However, Mom was an early-morning person, and Dad was a night owl. One evening, my mother was assigned to work the graveyard shift on a security detail, and she had trouble staying awake. Dad did her a favor by working her shift for her, so she thought she at least owed him one date. The rest, as they say, is history. My earliest childhood memories were of growing up on Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, as the oldest of five children. As the family grew, my mother left the Air Force, but my father continued in military service. My siblings and I are all about two years apart in age, and my childhood was fairly ordinary until I was about ten years old, when my father was deployed to Japan. My family planned to join him there, but we had to wait for about a year until Dad could arrange housing for us. When we finally left for Japan, I was excited...
