The document that I am analyzing is a memo sent out to the department heads whom was written by Debora Lynn; a manager at Crafston Solutions, Inc. The purpose of this document is to inform and provide information to employees about the company policy regards to annual bonus leave for employees with outstanding performance. The purpose of the document was fulfilled because it gave out important information only, it got straight to the point, and it also was appropriate for any audience to read.
Even though this document is from 2006, it is a memo that I found to be quite relevant and well- organized. Memos relay information, give directives, and provide instructions. Information about the subject is presented in a straightforward, helpful manner. The document is very successfully written because it has a readable style, the tone of the piece is appropriate for the audience, and it also has sensible organization. In this analysis, I evaluated the document on regards to how successful it was and by bringing in examples to back up my statements.
The style of the document is readable for the audiences that it was intended for, which are the department heads and the employees. The memo is very clear and concise. It was written in a way for a semi technical reader to understand. (The bonus leave will be accounted for separately and will remain available until used, notwithstanding any other limitation of the total number of days of annual leave that may be carried forward. Clear writing helps people to read each sentence only once in order to fully grasp its meaning.
The importance of a memo’s tone is very important. You have to be considered of the audience, even when it is merely implied; most people are sensitive to criticism. The tone of this document is appropriate for the audience because it has a reasonable tone, it is semi-formal, and is announcing a
