Double A Self Analysis

While attempting to assess Double A, I believe my areas of strength was that I did not give up even when he told me no. I constantly tried new things to get him engaged and some things failed and others did not and this was how I was able to learn how to engage a child in the assessments. My areas of weakness were when I assessed him on the phonemic awareness. I just sat down next to him while he was playing and began to assess him without telling him what I was going to do. I thought that if I was sneaky and just asked him questions, he would participate better, but he was actually rather confused. Another weakness is finding time to assess the child. I wish I did not have to pull him out of playtime, but at Educare, it is difficult at times

...Bad items: #8: I am usually calm and do not easily upset This is a double-barreled question. It measures the construct accurately, but is asking for responses regarding both being calm as well as how easily a person gets upset. This question asks both “usually calm” and “easily upset”. Good items do not attempt to measure two constructs at once. #13: I worry a lot This question is too subjective and vague. This question is ambiguous as to what ‘a lot’ could mean. What one might define as ‘a lot’, is very different for every individual. For one individual, ‘a lot’ could mean every day. For another individual, ‘a lot’ might be three times a week. Worry does encompass aspects of neuroticism, but this question cannot accurately measure this construct. Good items: #7: I feel vulnerable to other people's opinion of myself This is a good item because it is clear, concise, and measures the...
