After reviewing Dr. Yang’s case thoroughly, speaking with her loved ones, and speaking with her extensively regarding the incident, it has been determined that Dr. Yang meets criteria and has therefore been diagnosed with PTSD, following the trauma she endured as she was asked to perform surgery while being held at gunpoint. Considering all elements to her case, as well as her personality type, and the testaments of those who know her well, three forms of treat are being recommended;
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)- a common type of talk therapy (psychotherapy). You work with a mental health counselor (psychotherapist or therapist) in a structured way, attending a limited number of sessions. CBT helps you become aware of inaccurate or …show more content…
Yang would benefit from exposure therapy because it would allow her to gradually ease back into performing routine procedures.
Recommendations- I recommend that Dr. Yang break up the surgery process into increments. Each session should focus on one part of surgery (and the focus of the lessons prior) in order to build up to performing a solo procedure. Increments can be broken up as follows; going back the the OR of the trauma, scrubbing in, observing a surgery, assisting on a surgery, and finally performing a surgery on her own. I recommend that Dr. Owen Hunt and Dr. Teddie Aldman be present at all sessions. I also recommend that this treatment be paired with another form of therapy.
Medications such as SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor)- These oral medications affect naturally occurring chemical messengers (neurotransmitters), which are used to communicate between brain cells. SSRIs block the reabsorption (reuptake) of the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain. Changing the balance of serotonin seems to help brain cells send and receive chemical messages, which in turn boosts mood.(Mayo

Therefore, the way of using powder metallurgy to make use of these scraps could be an economic way of recycling since it doesn't need to be fully melted. The objective of the project is to use Al6063 scraps to produce porous...

Nelson, Roberto Vona Copyright © 2011 – The McGraw-Hill Companies srl 540 APPENDIX B Cases TREXEL We’ve never met a customer who wasn’t interested in our technology. —David Bernstein, CEO of Trexel David Bernstein hung up the phone with Alex d’Arbeloff, Trexel’s largest investor, and contemplated an upcoming Board of Directors meeting scheduled for June 25, 1998. The meeting was only 10 weeks away and Bernstein, Trexel’s president and chief executive officer, needed to present a coherent vision of the company’s new strategy. Bernstein believed that Trexel’s patented technology for manufacturing foamed plastics had the potential to revolutionize much of the worldwide plastics industry. His innovative process technology, known as MuCell, allowed the Woburn, Massachusetts company to produce foamed plastic utilizing 25% to 50% less material than traditional solid plastics without a significant decrease in the strength of the plastic. Bernstein believed the market for products produced via this...

...Praise for The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down “Fadiman describes with extraordinary skill the colliding worlds of Western medicine and Hmong culture.” —The New Yorker “This fine book recounts a poignant tragedy…It has no heroes or villains, but it has an abundance of innocent suffering, and it most certainly does have a moral…[A] sad, excellent book.” —Melvin Konner, The New York Times Book Review “An intriguing, spirit-lifting, extraordinary exploration of two cultures in uneasy coexistence…A wonderful aspect of Fadiman’s book is her even-handed, detailed presentation of these disparate cultures and divergent views—not with cool, dispassionate fairness but rather with a warm, involved interest that sees and embraces both sides of each issue…Superb, informal cultural anthropology—eye-opening, readable, utterly engaging.” —Carole Horn, The Washington Post Book World “This is a book that should be deeply disturbing to anyone who has given so much as a moment’s thought to the state of American medicine. But it is much more…People are presented as [Fadiman] saw them, in their humility and their frailty—and their nobility.” —Sherwin B. Nuland, The New Republic 3/462 “Anne Fadiman’s phenomenal first book, The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down, brings to life the enduring power of parental love in an impoverished refugee family struggling to protect their seriously ill infant daughter and ancient spiritual traditions from the tyranny of welfare bureaucrats and intolerant...

Jotun has been in the Chinese market since 1983, initially focusing only on marine coatings and protective coatings where the brand became very successful. Encouraged by this, Jotun China decided to enter the Chinese decorative paint market in 2001 with the long term goal of becoming the market’s leading brand. However, after 8 years in the Chinese decorative paint market, Jotun China has not been able to replicate its previous successes. Therefore, we the authors of this thesis, working in collaboration with Jotun China staff, set out first to determine the viability of Jotun’s latest strategy for the Chinese decorative paint market, and second to suggest concrete steps to follow if and when executing this strategy. ...C hapter Two: The Basics of Logical Reasoning The Logical Reasoning Section The focus of this book is on the Logical Reasoning section of the LSAT, and each Logical Reasoning section contains a total of 24 to 26 questions. Since you have thirty-five minutes to complete the section, you have an average of approximately one minute and twenty-five seconds to complete each question. Of course, the amount of time you spend on each question will vary with the difficulty of each question and the total number of questions per section. For virtually all students the time constraint is a major obstacle, and as we progress through this book we will discuss time management techniques as well as time-saving techniques that you can employ within the section. The Section Directions Each Logical Reasoning section is prefaced by the following directions: “The questions in this section are based on the reasoning contained in brief statements or passages. For some questions, more than one of the choices could conceivably answer the question. However, you are to choose the best answer; that is, the response that most accurately and completely answers the question. You should not make assumptions that are by commonsense standards implausible, superfluous, or incompatible with the passage. After you have chosen the best answer, blacken the corresponding space on your answer sheet.” On average, you have 1 minute and 25 seconds to complete each question. Because these directions precede...
