...We are making a few changes to the way things are run around the business. All changes made are only put forward for the benefit of the business and attract customers. Our office is currently running mostly on base jobs and we need to pick up address work. The only way we see any improvements to this is by following a set of guidelines and rules, customer service is very important in order to maintain and run a business as smooth and efficient as possible. This however does not mean we are losing focus on base customers. As you must be aware, we have recently put new advertising around the office in order to attract more customers and increase the awareness of our office. Team Work is very important in order to run any business efficiently. This means all drivers and controllers need to get on and work together as a team as we are all here to work and make money. All drivers are required to accept and get on with the job sent, unless otherwise the controller has approved and passed the job over. Drivers must not complain about the price once they have completed the job. If there is a issue with the pricing, it must be discussed with the controller before on route to the job. All drivers are required to dress appropriately and keep hygiene up to standards as well as keep there vehicles clean. Any driver caught overcharging will be given a disciplinary and sent home for the day....

Driver Retention

...Schedule for Implementing a Driver Control Program MKTG6513 Abstract This marketing plan is used on lessening driver turnover by reducing the communication gap between drivers and dispatchers. For each of the three years of the marketing plan, a trucking company starts with$1,000,000. To prevent repeating prior mistakes which cause drivers to leave the company, effective marketing and promotion which highlight the change in hiring style need to be implemented. To be effective in a trucking company, technology plays an imperative role which is utilized very carefully in this plan to remain within the budget while using most of it. In order to retain and minimize the turnover percentage of drivers, their training is vital, so that they represent the company in a more effective manner and help the company to retain the client. Together, the relationship of drivers with dispatchers and technology suggest the company can generate profit with a moderate rate. The prevalent concern confronting the trucking business is not the mounting fuel and insurance expenses, but rather, the aptitude to entice, recruit and preserve excellent drivers. According to Keller and Ozment (1999), “[1] the cost to replace a driver has been reported to range from 3,000 to 12,000 dollars [1]” (p. 99). Where does one start to better retain a quality driver? Chances are you have many worthy drivers in your fleet, and the odds are...

Mature Driver

...I am a mature safe driver, even than I recently made a mistake. I got pulled over by a cop for not stopping for a school bus. Even being a careful driver that I am, I never saw this bus. I was driving on a twisty road, where you couldn’t see past next bend. I was driving slow and monitoring my surroundings but I got pulled over by a cop and he told me that he pulled me over for passing a school bus. This was a single lane, tree lined road and even though I was following all the signs and speed limits and being careful, I never saw this school bus. I am still not sure if the bus was on side road or some service road. When I go in front of the judge, I will explain what happened from my point of view, and how sorry I am that I did not see the bus. I drive professionally and my lively hood depends on my clean record, which for the past many years, I have kept clean by driving and following all the laws and following safe driving practices. I have been driving by following the posted signs, being aware of my surroundings. I have even driven a school bus in the past, hence I am very careful to follow the rules. I will show the judge, my driving record to show that I have no DUIs or reckless driving charges in the past. I will improve by being extra diligent, taking driving classes and applying what I have learned in my class on the road. I will be careful to be more aware of my surroundings and check my mirrors and check the vehicles in front of me every 5 to 10 seconds......

...Qian.Zhang 4/17/13 MUS 192 Prof Sherri Pilon Personal Vocal Growth Paper When I was a young boy, I really liked singing for myself, but I was afraid of singing in front of people. When I was 6 years old, I began to play the piano. My mom said that playing the piano can enhance your music skill and also can improve your voice. Six years later, I stopped learning piano from teacher, because I became a middle school student and didn’t have enough time to practice. Piano became to my interest and I only played it when I was really tired after study. But I still really loved singing. I often went to the karaoke with my friends and began to singing in front of people. And I really think my voice skill was enhanced But I really had a problem when I was singing, that I can’t put my chin down when I sing in a very high voice. However I didn’t realize this problem. Last summer, I went to the karaoke with my mom, she said:” Take a voice class next semester; I think you didn’t know how to sing when the note is really high. And the teacher will help you about this, and your chin always up when you sing but you never realized that.” So at the very beginning of this semester I changed a class to this class, and want to improve my singing skill. And just like my mother said that I can’t put my chin down when I was singing. And professor also pointed out this problem. And my facial expression was not very rich when I was singing, that seems like that I didn’t put myself in to that...

...FIVE NOTETAKING METHODS Notetaking Great note-taking takes practice. You have to find a method that works for you, and that may change depending on the class that you’re in (for example, a science class versus a humanities class). Here are 5 methods that are proven to be successful. Read over each one and decide if there’s one that might work for you. These styles are described in the format you would use to take notes in class. You might find that a comfortable method is a combination of 2 or more of the ones listed here, and that’s fine. Figure out what works for you and stick with it! Page # Layout of the page and where to write THE CORNELL METHOD Today’s Date You physically draw a line vertically down your paper, leaving 2.5 inches on the left and 6 inches on the right. This allows you to take notes on the right-hand side of the page leaving space on the left to summarize the main point with a cue word or phase. When the instructor moves to a new topic, skip a line. It is also a great idea to use some organizational structure to your whole page. Use bullets!  Use an indented system – kind of like outlining You can underline important words. If you aren’t able to completely write down an idea before the instructor moves on to a new topic, fill it in after class. After class, test your knowledge of course material by covering up the right side of the page, reading the cue words, and trying to remember as much information as possible. Then check to see if you...

G1 Driver

...Advice a G2 driver would give a G1 Driver Some advice I would give a G1 driver would have to be, just because you have your licence does not make you a good driver, writing a test does not make you an experienced driver. You will become experienced after years of driving, even then you aren’t perfect.. so be careful! Make sure you fallow all laws and regulations of the road and always be cautious and alert. You are not the only one you should be concerned about while driving, there are other dangerous cars on the road! Other advice that id give a G1 driver (that probably wasn’t on the G1 test) would be when driving stay at least 4 seconds (a few vehicle lengths) behind each car in case you have to stop suddenly you need that time for your car to stop fully, especially if you have a bigger vehicle as it takes 2x the amount of time to stop. If it’s raining you should stay EVEN further back as it takes a lot longer for you to slow down since the road will be slippery. You should also watch for people who are fallowing to close to you, you should flash your lights to warn the driver to back up or if this doesn’t work switch lanes. Also, I suggest going to a driving school to gain the experience you need and to be a safe driver. When driving if others are going faster then the speed limit & fallow the rules and go slower if you feel more comfortable. Keep your eyes on the road at all time for pedestrians as they can sometimes come out of nowhere! When entering an...

Bus Driver

...The Bus Driver My parents have been multilingual for as long as I can remember. I never really thought about how they had to learn English to adjust to the United States. I can’t speak another language, but I understand my parent’s native tongue pretty well. The most memorable encounter I had with multilingualism was with my bus driver in middle school. His name was Carlos Knight. Although we just called him Mr. Knight. Mr. Knight spoke English but it was heavily accented and butchered. Spanish was clearly his first language and he spoke it often, even when giving directions to passengers. I never really understood what he was talking about in English or Spanish. I did not start learning Spanish until High School, so a majority of what Mr. Knight said sounded like gibberish at the time. I was younger then and certainly not as wise. I along with the other kids on the bus would torment poor Mr. Knight relentlessly about his speaking. Regardless of how clear his words were, we would all pretend like we didn’t understand what he was saying. I remember one time we had to take an alternate route that meant crossing the railroad. When you’re in a railroad crossing, you have to be completely silent. Mr. Knight yelled out “Silencio’, which from context clues could easily be referred to as silent. Instead of reaming silent though, we all screamed at him that we didn’t understand what he was saying. It was funny then, but looking back it seems mean and potentially...

Driver Shortage

...The growing U.S. economy has exposed a driver shortage among the motor carrier industry. The rise in consumer demand has increased freight volume in the industry. While this is positive news the growth in the industry could be hampered due to a lack of available drivers. According to the American Trucking Associations, the industry’s shortage is close to 35,000 drivers (Carey, 2014). This issue could continue to get worse if nothing is done to combat it. It is estimated by 2020, according to ATA, the motor carrier industry’s driver shortage could grow to 240,000 drivers (McNally, 2014). While many trucking companies are finding ways to attract drivers, such as covering the cost of licensing and signing bonuses, U.S. Xpress is addressing the driver shortage with its own approach to the problem (Carey, 2014). One of the ways U.S. Xpress is handling the driver shortage is to increase the base mile pay (McNally, 2014). This has raised drivers pay by 13 percent (Carey, 2014). While that is a big step to close the shortage gap more is needed to confront the problem. U.S. Xpress, to counter the shortage and attracting drivers, is removing the OTR (over the road) solo driver’s sliding pay scale (McNally, 2014). For OTR drivers, who spend long periods of time out on the road, calculating their base pay from week to week under the sliding pay scale was difficult (McNally, 2014). Now, no matter how long a haul is every OTR solo drivers makes the same base mileage pay (McNally, 2014).......

... referred to as “Junk Bonds.” Hi Grade bonds are called “Investment Grade,” and High Yield are “Non-Investment grade.” This is important because many professional investing entities (mutual funds, trust funds, pension funds, university endowments…) are only allowed (by their charter) to invest in Investment Grade bonds. The rating scales for Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s follow. It is very interesting to read the detailed analysis of Moody’s and Standard and Poor’s from which they arrive at a bond rating for a company. Certainly some of the reasons are whether or not the bond is secured or unsecured; is callable or non-callable; and the basic volatility of the corporation’s past and expected cash flows (to ensure the company has the ability to make interest payments and face value upon maturity). Of course, the bonds that are rated the highest have the lowest investor required rates of return (less risky); and the lower the rating, the higher the investor’s required rates of return. (Pull up Moody’s summary of Msft Bond Rating Aaa.) Corporate Bonds: Why Issue? Bonds, like stock, are sold to investors because the company has identified internal investment projects (needs Capex); or they have the opportunity to acquire another company; or they need money to support their on-going operations; or they want to “rebalance” their capital structure, issuing less expense long-term bonds to retire more expensive short-term debt (bank debts and notes)—or to support dividend...
