There are two methodology changes (or new features) in the current report - induced and indirect related jobs and a new single measure of the total economic activity. Although other ports are using this enhanced methodology, the MPA chooses not to include them when speaking of the Port’s impacts for the following reasons: • In previous comprehensive studies, only the number of direct related jobs was measured. In the January 2008 study, the related impacts measure the jobs, personal income, and associated state and local taxes that occur at each stage of production of exports or consumption/use of imported cargo. This includes induced and indirect related jobs that are supported by the direct related jobs. Historians state King Charles I paid a handsome salary of 500 pounds per year to chef DiMirco for keeping the recipe a secret. (Ward, 2012) The railroad industry in America is divided by the Mississippi river. Union Pacific and Burlington Northern & Santa Fe dominate the west with CXS and Norfolk Southern to the east. Union Pacific is the largest railway company in the country. It encompasses 23,000 miles of track in 23 western states. Union Pacific ended 2013 with almost $22 billion in revenue. Burlington Northern & Santa Fe is the second largest railway in the country and is owned by Berkshire Hathaway with $21 billion in revenue. CSX falls in at number three and Norfolk Southern makes the list at number four. Norfolk Southern is the only real rail competitor to CSX, sharing the eastern part of the country. Norfolk Southern’s annual revenue is similar to CSX at $11 billion with around 31,000 employees. (Henage, 2013) Starting in 1827, CSX’s history dates back to the beginning of the American railroad industry with the first charter of Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company and through a long list of railway mergers throughout the 20th century. How the U.S. “special relationship” with Israel came about W hile many people are led to believe that U.S. support for Israel is driven by the American establishment and U.S. national interests, the facts don't support this theory. The reality is that for decades U.S. foreign policy and defense experts opposed supporting the creation of Israel. They then similarly opposed the massive American funding and diplomatic support that sustained the forcibly established state and that provided a blank check for its aggressive expansion. They were simply outmaneuvered and eventually replaced. Like many American policies, U.S. Middle East policies are driven by a special interest lobby. However, the Israel Lobby, as it is called today in the U.S.[1], consists of vastly more than what most people envision in the word "lobby."
