Setup process
To start your EatPlayMeet experience, simply launch the app, which will lead you to our login page, which is based on your Facebook login information. Once you have logged in using your Facebook account, you will then be able to choose which information you will allow EatPlayMeet to access, such as liked pages, and personal information like your age, gender, current school or job etc. Tapping on Facebook’s database would save you the trouble of creating a whole new EatPlayMeet account, by simplifying things immensely.
You will next be able to limit your privacy settings for event invites as well as personal information, to friends only (first degree), friends of friends (second degree), or friends of your friends’ friends (third degree). These settings, as well as your Facebook account, can also be changed after setup if you wish to do so.
Usage needs
EatPlayMeet focuses on 3 aspects of social life, food, activities, and catching up with people, with corresponding features in the app tailored towards these areas. EatPlayMeet offers a one stop solution for you and your friends to coordinate timings and agree on the details of your activities. In addition, the app encourages more social interaction by enabling you to arrange meetings with people outside of your immediate social circle.
EatPlayMeet also has a more personal touch and is great for your casual and spontaneous events, in comparison with Facebook events for example, which have mass sent invitations for larger-scale, more deliberate events such as chalets, parties and bazaars.
Functions:
Eat - allows you to select restaurants and food places through filters such as cuisine (Japanese, Local, Western, etc) and location (North, South, East, West, sub-divided into areas like Bishan, Orchard).
Play - allows you to select activities for your outing, with categories such as indoor and outdoor activities, of which sports, movies, and karaoke are some possibilities. Your most recent and the most popular activities will be shown as well. If the activity calls for it, such as booking of street soccer courts, there will be a redirect link to the relevant websites for booking and payment.
Meet - allows you to coordinate easily between friends (or others), setting up details such as time and place first, in order to get an easy consensus and confirm a time for you to catch up with your friends.
Location - For “Eat” and “Play”, your event’s location will be able to be linked to Google Maps through the input of the name of the location, and it will be pinned on the map.
For “Meet”, you can search for any place that you wish to include as your meet-up point, and pin the exact location of where you would like your event, using the drag and drop pin provided by Google Maps. Your friends will then be able to use this pin to find the exact meet-up location, using their own Google Maps app, if need be.
MyLendar - a calendar of your planned events, invited events, including those you have accepted or are pending. It can also help you invite potential people who like the same types of activities. You can also determine who can view Mylendar, be it friends or friends of friends.
FriendLendar - where you can see your friends' calendars and events they have accepted, thus easily determining which dates they are free or not.
Settings - consisting of privacy settings, which determine who can send you invitations, who can view MyLendar, and allowing EatPlayMeet to post on your Facebook Timeline, and notification settings, such as push notifications, sounds and vibrations.
General event creation - to create events, just go to the appropriate button (Eat, Play or Meet), select the event, followed by the maximum number of people you would like to be able to attend. This would consist of VIPs (your close friends), and "who" (basically anyone else, such as friends or friends of friends). Then your event will be successfully created. You can then select the location of your event.
There will be a chat function for the event once it is created, allowing you to communicate with all invited people, and to facilitate further coordination in case any changes are made, or latest updates.
Post event creation, you can also view who amongst your friends has accepted or rejected the invitation.
Usage scenarios
1. EatPlayMeet will allow you to avoid the problems of coordination of common timings for meetings through other media such as Whatsapp group chats. These have the disadvantage of having to manually input data, needing to toggle between your calendar and chat, and the potential of having the conversation lost when more messages appear.
Eg:

EatPlayMeet avoids this through the provision of collaborative calendaring (MyLendar, FriendLendar), where you and your friends can see each other's available dates and times.
2. EatPlayMeet can also aid students who have to meet up for projects, especially since the Friendlendar (for first degree friends) will allow you to view each other’s free timings.
3. EatPlayMeet can also help you find people of similar interests as you. For example, if you want to organise a paintball event, but you cannot find enough friends interested in going, you can tap on the mutual friends who like“paintball” on Facebook to make up the numbers
