Two years ago I did not even know that Eco labels was existed. Until I went to visit my cousin in Germany and I stayed at her place for 3 weeks. She is such a green-consumer. During that time I have found some interesting things from the way my cousin lives. She saves everything and saves as much as she can, from food, water, and electricity even though she tries not to use plastic bags. Returning to home after that trip I began to be influenced by her without my noticing and now it’s a thing I must do in my life. Before, I used to consider using bio bags and separating the garbage like plastic, glass, food, metal and etc. as wasting of time. Separating the trash is easy but I’m lazy to bring them to the right places since there is not any place near by our house for plastic and metal garbage. I changed the current normal dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent into Eco labels, I also asked my boyfriend to change energy-saving lamps in every rooms and he was wondering what on earth happened to me that time. I even wrote down the text “Turn the lights off before leaving home” and sticked it on the entrance door. Before I usually did mouthwash straight from the tap after brushing teeth but nowadays I use glass of water to avoid water running too much. If my boyfriend hadn’t started to complain about bio toilet paper after the few times we tried it and if paper wasn’t too hard to use, I would continue to use it. And then I convinced my mother to make a bio revolution for my little sister’s foods, diaper and clothes; despite there are not many options of organic products. A while ago I have started to store newspapers and to wash the empty milk cartons and dry them out then give to my boyfriend’s mother so she can burn them in fireplace and sauna instead of using only woods. That can also save her a tiny amount of money but the main thing is to reduce the trash to the environment. Because of separating the trashes and storing the newspaper and milk cartons, our place is a bit messy but I think it is worth it and I am happy with what I have been doing after the trip to visit my cousin in Germany. Nowadays using bio products is not only a trend but also cognition about protecting our health and environment. Because the products are not biological which may contain radioactive and substances or hormones and antibiotics what put our health at risk. Although bio products may be more expensive than others, they are worth it because our health and that of our family should be our priority, moreover the environment around us.

Eco Terrorism

...Eco Terrorism Eco-terrorism is the term used to describe the violence in the interests of environmentalists. There have been cases when environmentalists have inflicted damage to the industrial factories, due to the fact that, they cause pollution and other environmental problems. According to Manning (2012), “Eco-terrorism can be defined as the act of violence or sabotage against person and property commits and support animal right activist.” There are some organizations that participate in it, such as, Earth Liberation Front (ELF) and Animal Liberation Front (ALF). These organizations managed to burn down a ski resort and blow up a laboratory among other things. On the other hand, some groups such as the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society are labeled as eco-terrorists although they do not commit such acts of violence against humans- they do not attempt to injure or kill people, but only provoke people through property. This has led to a debate that touches on whether or not to classify these actions as "terrorist" or not. The FBI has given the environmentalists a definition ‘the use or threatened use of violence of a criminal nature against innocent victims or property by an environmentally-oriented, sub national group for environmental-political reasons, or aimed at an audience beyond the target, often of a symbolic nature.’ John Lewis, a top FBI official says, ‘The number one domestic terrorism threat is the eco-terrorism, animal-rights movement.” Eco-Terrorists...

Nature vs. Man

...English 122 Nature vs. Man In the world now there are views of what can or should be done with the environment, use what is available to save any animal/plant/bug for the future. Then there are the options that go between those two extremes. Looking at some of the views from our readings as well as other sources, we’ll see what is looked at as right and wrong ways to use and preserve nature. There are many views on how the Earth should be used or preserved, but the how to do it with the world’s increasing population makes the answer so important to those that will come after us. While not about nature, Aldous Huxley’s “Time and the Machine” talks about time and how man has made himself a slave to time. Knowing that we have a limited amount of time in our lives, many want to do as much to fill that time as can be done. Most in the western world view time as something that needs to be taken advantage of, that there’s always a deadline for creating or making something. In some eastern cultures, there isn’t the hurry seen like we have. They aren’t as concerned for man-made time as they have “not been made conscious of the existence of minutes.” (Huxley, 366) He goes on to say that people living in large cities can live “without being aware of the daily march of the sun across the sky; without ever seeing the moon and stars.” (Huxley, 366) This goes to show that people are too into the passing of time and don’t look at taking time to relax and exist with nature. ...

Argument Essay

...Mercedes Davis English 091 March 11, 2011 An Open Reader Reading is the foundation of our life. Without reading we would be like lost souls in the world. Everywhere we go and anything we do we have to read; at work, school, driving, etc. People who do not know how to read are limited in life, they cant get a job, and the everyday life would be a struggle. Someone who knows how to read has no restrictions, the sky is the limit for them, they are our lawyers, doctors, and teachers. In Moody’s article “The Joy and Enthusiasm of Reading”, he expressed his love for the unpopular selections, and how he learned how to dissect his readings. Moody also states that nobody will ever be able to tell him how to read, and also believes there is no right or wrong way to read. In Moody’s article “The Joy and Enthusiasm of Ready”, he explains his high school and college reading experiences. He tells us how his, Mr. Buxton, taught him how to analyze Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Mr. Buxton did not give him his own interpretation and made sure Moody noticed how Shakespeare repeated somethings to help Moody come to a conclusion. In eleventh grade Moody’s teacher Mr. Flanders encouraged Moody to develop his own relationship with the Gospels, in his religious studies. Then Moody continued onto college where he read Umberto Eco’s Role of the Reader, where he was introduced to Eco’s “Open Text” philosophy. He also read some of the great European and Latin Americans articles. After his...

Eco/365 Consumer Consumption Patterns

...individual. It is these causes that set a precedent for what consumers will purchase and the amount of products to be produced by manufacturers and farmers. This is known as economic consumption patterns, and these patterns are thoroughly reviewed by economists. Economists use the results of the evaluation to provide the economy with information regarding the supply of products and services, and the demand for those products and services. In review of recent consumption patterns, the coffee market has experienced many changes according to an article written by Daniel Harrington. The article was titled “Coffee Prices 2011-2012 – Coffee Price Increase – Coffee Shortage”, which detailed the various aspects that are altering the standard consumption patterns in the economy for coffee. Coffee has a reliable and growing economic utility. In other words, the level of satisfaction received when people drink coffee has remained elevated over the years. In addition, there are more consumers in our economy that are broadening the types of drinks they ingest with coffee, and the wide variety of coffee drinks that are offered. This has aided in the increase of coffee’s utility in the marketplace. In recent years, the demand, or desire, for coffee has increased as well as the sustained and overwhelming demand in countries like the United States and Britain. For example, China’s population has traditionally been considered consumers of tea, but in the most recent years this has changed. “The...

Business Proposal

...Business Proposal ECO/561 May 11, 2015 Business Proposal Introduction Transportation has evolved tremendously in today’s world. If someone does not have a way of transportation, there is a taxi service available and now a business called Uber. Uber is a company that is available to consumers to request a ride and pay via the mobile app. Uber is available in more than 50 countries and is expanding. This seemed to be very convenient to the consumers because they can go anywhere and even reserve a driver for a day for an individual price. Market Structure There are four basic types of market structure. They are as followed; Perfect Competition, Oligopoly, Monopoly, & Monopsony. Uber is fundamentally a marketplace, where supply is controlled not by the company but by the legion of independent contractors and transportation providers with whom they work. (Gurley, n.d.) That being said, their market structure is an Oligopoly because Oligopoly has to do with several large sellers who have some control over their prices. Elasticity of the product Price elasticity is imperative. Uber’s analysis and research have shown that both the supply curve and the demand curve are highly elastic (Gurley, n.d.). Uber lets the customers do the talking since the goal is to please them. Price elasticity tells how much of an impact a change in price will have on the consumers’ willingness to buy that item (Tuck, 2015). If the price is too high for the consumer, then they will most likely...

Lemonade Stand Part 1

...mission statement is important to a company because it gives information about the business and its goals to the consumer. Our goal lies with the environment first allowing for our customers to have purchase our product knowing that the lemonade they are drinking was made as eco-friendly as possible. The pricing strategy I chose to use with the lemonade stand will be dynamic pricing. Dynamic pricing will enable the company to adjust the pricing levels to gain the most profits while still thinking about the customer. It will also let the company to keep making profit even if the market for lemons or sugar changes. Although this will allow the company to change the prices whenever they want they should not change it too often to avoid customers getting upset because you used to be cheaper yesterday than you are today. I chose to pick this strategy since it is the best choice for the business and the consumer. In order for a company to go global and have an online presence they must first conduct proper research in the marketplace. One example of this would be to check for direct competitors as well as indirect competitors and see what they are offering and what their presence is like. Along with this, research will also need to be done in order to find out if the profits outweigh the costs. Additional research should also be done to find out if consumers would be interested in ordering a beverage like lemonade online or if they...

Concepts of an E-Business

...Joshua Tollison Phase 4 Individual Project MGM310-1204B-01 Bari Courts 23 December 2012 If I were to start an e-business the main thing I would focus on would be functionality of the site and ease to make customers feel comfortable and confident about shopping with my storefront. By this I mean designing a site that gives customers several options for the products they are shopping for; along with that my customers would have access to multiple pictures of every product available, and a detailed description of the item they are interested in. My customers would also be able to compare similar items by their available options and provide a side by side analysis. The main thing for my e-business though would be the superior customer service that is provided to my clients by means of email, live chat, and a customer service hotline if you would prefer to talk to a representative. One of the final details that would make my site superior to others would be a hassle free return policy that even included return shipping for those who need to return their products for any reason. To be able to make this dream come true there are several other factors that I will be discussing throughout this paper as I present my business plan for establishing my storefront. I. ...in technology and way of life. One of the most significant forces driving this development is the ability to record and deliver information across distances and at rates expanding exponentially. This is also referred to as the information age. Digital technology has changed the economy. The new terminology being used is e-marketing where the primary source of value creation for consumers has shifted from physical goods to services and information. This does not mean that everything we previously knew about business becomes irrelevant and obsolete, but it does mean that significant changes in business environment justify new approaches to thinking of the best marketing strategy and management. In summary E-commerce can be defined as an exchange of goods and services between parties, individuals and organizations as well as the electronically based intra and inter organizational activities that facilitate such exchanges.(Dave.C.,2007,p,4) There are four categories of E-commerce:- a) Business to business b) Business to consumer c) Consumer to business d) Consumer to consumer Most business still carries out the traditional ways of conducting business.
