The three learning styles working together make me a more effective communicator by identifying my strengths and weaknesses. The personality survey revealed that I am an organizer, giver, and a thinker. The three personality types revealed the strong side of my character. ...Economic Issues Simulation Paper HCS/440 University of Phoenix Individuals are encouraged to get insured, which serves as their proactive assurance of the possible risks that they may face in the future. By getting insurance, the person is able to minimize these risks. For instance, one may opt to buy insurance in order to have a fall back in case of a large loss or casualty, thus they can still be secure of a regular premium. Quite ironically, insurance has been one of the profit avenues of some companies. Profit can be gained in the insurance business because gaining the premium from the probability of a certain loss will still have a higher possibility of the same event to reoccur. Castor Collins Health Plans The main idea of insurance is letting the consumers or buyers give up a part of their money on a regular basis as their way of preparing for probable risks or losses. The clients of Castor Collins can choose between two plans of the company. The Standard plan will not cover the previous conditions, while the Castor Enhanced Plans can be used to cover up for the prior conditions of the client. Recently though, with the new Chief Financial Officer of the company, Helen Feuerman, the insurance company has come up with a better strategy that can provide them with greater profits. This is called the Castor Enhanced Minor. This new program basically eliminated all the company services that have a high...

Curriculum Philosophy Paper

...Curriculum Philosophy Paper Patrice Bax HRWD 6713: Curriculum Design Submitted: October 6, 2012 In mathematics, there is a rule called the order of operations which instructs a student to solve certain steps first, before calculating others steps to arrive at an accurate solution to a mathematical expression. Similarly, society teaches an order of operations to life in that students are to first, matriculate through secondary education to attain foundational skills in support of man’s progression in society; second, enter into college to gain skills and knowledge to prepare for survival in society; third, graduate from college with specific jobs skills and credentials to give meaning to society; and finally, contribute to the functioning and betterment of society by successfully entering and succeeding in the workforce. Unfortunately, society is facing a detrimental problem that may signify a defect in this order of operation, because graduates are unprepared and lack the skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce. The basis of this paper is to provide clarity to the problem of unprepared graduates entering the workforce, and suggest a viable solution by offering that simulated education curriculum rooted in Social Efficiency Ideology is a practical response to the issue. ...University of Phoenix 12 Economic Issues Simulation HCS/440 Lisa Christopher Economic Issues Simulation Paper The simulation review paper will address the summary of my findings of the financial accounting of the Elijah Heart Center Hospital, according to the financial indicators in the simulation: Capital shortage, Funding options for equipment, Funding options for capital expansion, summary and the conclusion. Capital Shortage The cost cutting options I selected was reducing agency staff and changing the skill mix for Elijah Heart Center. The reason why I chose this option is because we can reduce some cost by not hiring so many contracting nurses to save on payroll and increase the unlicensed staff to be used in some areas more than others to save some revenue and not jeopardize the quality of care for the patients first. I picked loan option 1, which the loan is 1.5 million at 9.45% interest rate, monthly installments of 131,490 for 12 months and no prepayment limitation, so we put nothing up front initially (University of Phoenix, 2011). My outcome was making a smaller loan at a higher rate to defray cost while reducing contracting nurses and utilize the unlicensed staff to be diverse in multiple skills in the hospital and not cut quality of the patient’s care at this health facility. Funding Options for Equipment You do not have to buy a new CT scanner because this machine is the least expensive in the hospitals and it can be upgraded if need be for the......

...Keywords: trade, culture, agents, uncertainty avoidance, negotiation Abstract A model is presented of the way that our cultural attitude towards the unknown influences the decisions we make in trade. Uncertainty avoidance is one of Hofstede’s five cultural dimensions. The paper presents a model of how this dimension affects trade. This influence has been explicated for the decisions regarding trade: partner selection, negotiation behavior, trust, and the interpretation of the trade partner’s behavior. It has been verified in simulations showing that the generic tendencies as attributed to uncertainty avoidance are reflected in the simulation results. Our approach is an example of instantiating generic knowledge on the influences of culture on decision-making in general. INTRODUCTION The international food economy is rapidly changing. Important issues are concentration and globalization, growing information intensity, consumer demands, and social responsibility [Kinsey 2001]. An important issue in current food trade research is the emergence and performance of international supply chain networks [Lazzarini et al. 2001]. Agent-based modeling extends the understanding of processes in society and economy. It enables simulation of the emergence of macro-level phenomena from micro-level interactions between individual agents [Tesfatsion and Judd 2006]. It is therefore well-suited for modeling the emergence and performance of supply chains under different institutional and social......

...Improving organizational performance Paper PSY/428 Improving organizational performance Paper The current economic health of business around the world leaves little to no room for error concerning productivity. With this the science of organizational psychology can make a positive change of the company (Jex & Britt, 2008). The following paper will illustrate what cause and effects can have on a company through the use of the improving organizational performance simulation. In the following the concepts of choices made during the simulation will be discussed; as well, what motivational theories to use and what are the affects to reduce workplace stressors. In the first part of the simulation the student is introduced to the organization as an organizational psychologist for hire. The psychologist is hired to improve the failing company before it is too late to recover. Upon introduction to the company the first search for information done was to implement an JDI (job descriptive index), along with profiling the personal, and viewing a blog that was available (Apollo Group Simulation, 2005). With the information that was available, the members of the company were not happy because that the organization is not living up to his or her expectations prior to joining, and his or her suggestions are not taken seriously. This was the correct choice according to the simulation. As the simulation did demonstrate through the survey, and blog that the employees...

...PERU E. M COLLINS COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS TERM PAPER ARGUEMENTATION STUDENT ID NO: D33/34238/2010 AN ARGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPER ON RESEARCH TOPIC: WHAT IS SCIENCE? TOPIC: Dispelling Misconceptions; Physical and Natural Sciences are not superior over Social Sciences. TABLE OF CONTENTS Abstract. 3 Introduction 4 Recommendations 22 REFERENCES 25 Abstract. Science in general is a great and highly developed human enterprise. Its intricacies are clearly not limited to the scientists alone, but it is essential for the entire human race. If we think of science as a space within the larger space of society then it is at the interfaces between these two spaces that human beings are involved with science. To see this interface clearly from the space of science is not the same as seeing it as a mere collection of facts that should be construed to be true and nothing but the truth. Science is beyond facts, ideals and thoughts. It is a process and a model that has undergone tests, been tried, reviewed and accepted as a true representation of the processes and occurrences in the natural world However, due to the broad nature of science, and the work, time and resources involved in pursuit of knowledge in different science fields which entails different interests, and thereby different values too; and the......
