The type of techniques that I will use to set my educational goals, first technique I will sit down and think about what I want out of my education. Once I’ve figured it out then I will start with my short-term goals moving on to my long-term goal. Make me a checklist, so I can see what my goals are. I believe if you see want your goals are it will be easier to stay focus and being sure that I’m putting forth an effort to achieve my educational success. The first college that I attended was CTC (Central Texas College) I did both online and traditional classes. I went to the school and looked to see what they had to offer. They had a few brochures with different programs. I knew that I wanted to work in Law Enforcement once I retired from the army. I began to write down how I was going to achieve my goals. I just began to work towards them in slow steps so I wouldn’t burn myself out. I was in Iraq when I decided to go back to college. So when I returned home CTC didn’t offer classes where I was living and I wanted traditional classes. I couldn’t let this bump in the road stop me from reaching my educational goals, so I decided to switch colleges.

The kind of techniques I use to manage my time is an easy one with me working 12-15 hour days. I have to use any free time I get to make sure I’m achieving my goals. I get up every day around 5am and I get home most of the time about 6am. I get an hour and a half for lunch. So during this time I use it to complete any homework or assignments I have. Once I get home after work I devoted about two hours to my school-work. I think by me doing this breaking my day up into three parts; work, school and personal time. This helps me complete my task and helps keep my stress levels to a manageable level. Just as the book said about make sure you prioritizing the things you must get done from the...

...Strategies to Achieve Educational Goals Shirley Lemacks HCS/301 October 3, 2011 Karen Benjamin Strategies to Achieve Educational Goals Setting goals can make life an interesting journey; however, taking the first step toward a goal may prove to be very difficult. Educational goals, along with any goal set must be specific. Decide what the goal is to be and be sure that it is understood what exactly it consists of. Determine what they will do after the goal is accomplished as it could take them into a different chapter in their lives. Another importance is to make the goal realistic and achievable along with measureable and timed. Failure comes when a goal is unrealistic and impossible to achieve. Give it a time line obtainable in the near future, not 20 years from now. As an older adult the wish to become a cardiac surgeon this year would be an example of an unrealistic goal. Once a goal is set, prepare for obstacles and hurdles to cross over. Decide how long it will take to accomplish this goal. After this goal is achieved, repayment would be spread out over time. Time is a valuable asset and commitment is a must. Construct a chart to keep up with academic progress and obtain a superior support system by involving family and friends. According to a study by Templeton research, “Once a goal is chosen, the mind has many processes to promote its pursuit” (Masicampo, 2011, p. 672). Educational and Personal Goals After working as a nursing assistant for many years......

My Personal Responsibility for Success

...responsibility. My personal responsibility lies with the actions and determination that has been set by me to accomplish and succeed at the desired tasks. I define personal responsibility to be a load of actions that are required for me to do in order to succeed and accomplish something. Without personal responsibility goals or even success cannot be achieved; therefore, as a student I am personally responsible for integrating, dedicating, and fully committing to furthering my education. • Explain the relationship between personal responsibility and college success. Integrating knowledge can only be achieved through self acknowledgement. Allowing my personal feeling and attitude to get in the way of things will only distract and lead me away from staying focused. That is why responsibility for choices in life should be though out very carefully. I know that now because of all the previous choices I have made, for example, getting married early and having a kid. My personal life got in the way of my personal achievement that I had set for myself to accomplish. I am very happy that I have a wonderful family, but because of poorly processed responsibilities towards my educational success, I find myself incomplete today. One way to help achieve a short term goal of succeeding academically is the writing process. Getting your thoughts on paper,......
