Tangerine, by Edward Bloor, is about the nearly blind Paul Fisher and his life in Lake Windsor Downs, Florida. There many apparent and obscure themes, or morals, throughout the entire book. One of the more consistent themes is to be make the most out of every situation (willingly), even the bad ones. An example of this is (from page 93 to 94) right after the sinkhole. Shortly before the sinkhole, Paul had been told that due to his vision impairment, he could not play soccer on the Lake Windsor Downs Middle School soccer team. Then after the sinkhole, he was given a second chance to play soccer. He made the most out of that sinkhole and took that opportunity. Another example on page 103 is when Coach Bright of Tangerine told him that even though

Have you ever met someone that you wanted to punch in the face? Erik is one of those people. He is a malevolent, bloodthirsty, a murderous jerk, which would make him one of the literature's greatest villain. Malevolent is one of the calmer...

Tangerine By Edward Bloor: A Literary Analysis

...In the Edward Bloor's book Tangerine, there are varying brother relationships that help to prove that even though you are related by blood does not mean you will get along. First, there are the brothers Joey and Mike Costello. The two brothers are obviously close to the point where they know very little details no one else know about them. “ I wanted to explain to Coach Warner about the shoes. He- I guess he thought I cracked up or something. But- But I saw Mike lying there. Maybe I even knew he was dead. I don't know. I had to do something for him. Tangerine Flashback Analysis

...Flashbacks play a major part in the novel, Tangerine by Edward Bloor. Paul Fisher, the protagonist, frequently sets the scene as a memory he has from when he was younger, or a flashback. One thing I’ve noticed as a reader is that many of these moments justify or even foreshadow events in the book or Paul’s feelings. From a young age, Paul had not been a huge fan of his older brother, Erik. Always teasing and tormenting him, Erik was constantly the star and center of attention in the Fisher family. He was athletic (a football star) and pretty well- rounded in his parents eyes, but not Paul’s. Mr. and Mrs. Fisher’s opposing point of view to Paul’s on their eldest son left Paul wanting attention. Erik, gave him that attention, that negative...
