Montgomery, from the novel The Island of Doctor Moreau, is firstly introduced as the man that saves Edward Prendick off of an abandoned ship. Prendick awakes to Montgomery holding his wrist, then goes on to describe Montgomery's appearance. Prendick describes Montgomery as being "a youngish man with flaxen hair." He says Montgomery has "a bristly straw colored moustache, and a drooping nether lip." He describes Montgomery's eyes being "grey and oddly void of expression." From this point on, Montgomery becomes an extremely important character of this novel.
