Introduction Being the director of a regional Emergency Management Office during a crisis I will have to have control. Without control the crisis will turn into a catastrophe. With an effective contingency plan in place this will help me to stay in control of the situation. I will also have alternate plans put in place just in case my key plans do not happen as expected. It will take everyone involved inside and outside of the Emergency Management Office working together to make sure the crisis is worked through and that the public remains calm.
Individuals or Groups That Will Be Communicating Inside and Outside the Organization during the Crisis Anyone who communicates inside and outside the organization should be key to the crisis. There should be one person assigned to each role in my crisis communication team. In a large crisis there might be a need to go outside of my main office for support from volunteers or a nearby college [ (Services, 2006) ]. The people inside the communication team will consist of the public information officer, content and messages coordinator, media coordinator, direct public outreach coordinator, partner coordinator, and the rumor control coordinator. Each one on these will have a role to follow. The public information officer will activate the risk communication plan and direct the work related to the release of information [ (Services, 2006) ]. The content and messages coordinator will make sure the information is received from the Emergency Operations Center about the public health emergency and will also work with the subject matter experts to create information fact sheets and updates [ (Services, 2006) ]. The media coordinator will assess media needs and work to fulfill those needs. The direct public outreach...

Firstly the rock size and mass was measured to determine the density and bulk volume using an electronic ruler and mass balance. Then using the helium porosimeter the grain volume of each core plug sample was measured. Each of these measurements were repeated three times and then averaged for precision sake. The porosity was then calculated by subtracting the grain volume from the bulk volume, to determine the pore volume, and then dividing by the bulk volume. The porosity results for all the samples were reasonable except for sample 1 and 6 for which the porosity is calculated to be in negative % and make no logic. These possible reasons for these inaccurate results are that the group made high errors in reading the measurements or did the experiment in a wrong method. 2-Introduction For the storage of oil and gas in any reservoir rock presence of porosity is vital. However, the degree of porosity in any rock depends......

Strategic Management of Business Policy Formulation and Implementation Between Bangladesh and India

...Strategic Management of Business Policy Formulation and Implementation between Bangladesh and India Course Title: Strategic Management Course Code: MBA 512 Prepared for Prof: Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Ph.D. Visiting Professor of IUB Prepared by Mostafizur Rahman 1221544 Shamsher Ali 113060 Abstract The business relationship between India and Bangladesh is currently of special interest in both countries for a number of reasons. Firstly, there are urgent and longstanding concerns in Bangladesh arising from the perennial, large bilateral trade deficit with India, and from the large volumes of informal imports from India across the land border which avoid Bangladesh import duties. These concerns have been particularly acute on the Bangladesh side in the context of discussions between the two governments of the possibility of a bilateral free trade agreement along the lines of the India-Sri Lanka FTA. Secondly, even though (because of the disparity in the size of the two economies) India’s trading relationship with Bangladesh is much less significant for it than it is for Bangladesh, closer economic integration with Bangladesh is nevertheless seen as a very important way of reducing the economic and political isolation of the seven Indian eastern and north eastern states from the rest of the country. Finally, both countries have long shared common objectives for closer economic......

...For teens, life is not a playground, it's a jungle. And, being the parent of a teenager isn't any walk in the park, either. In his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, author Sean Covey attempts to provide "a compass to help teens and their parents navigate the problems they encounter daily." How will they deal with peer pressure? Motivation? Success or lack thereof? The life of a teenager is full of tough issues and life-changing decisions. As a parent, you are responsible to help them learn the principles and ethics that will help them to reach their goals and live a successful life. While it's all well and good to tell kids how to live their lives, "teens watch what you do more than they listen to what you say," Covey says. So practice what you preach. Your example can be very influential. Covey himself has done well by following a parent's example. His dad, Stephen Covey, wrote the book The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, which sold over 15 million copies. Sean's a chip off the old block, and no slacker. His own book has rung in a more than respectable 2 million copies sold. Here are his seven habits, and some ideas for helping your teen understand and apply them: Be Proactive Being proactive is the key to unlocking the other habits. Help your teen take control and responsibility for her life. Proactive people understand that they are responsible for their own happiness or unhappiness. They don't blame others for their own actions or feelings. Begin......

It is necessary to understand (and Practice) all seven habits so that the tools of time management can be learned and practiced in their natural setting. What follows is a basic overview of these ideas presented so you can take better advantage of this tool you hold in your hands. Management: Ethics & Tactics

...Management: Ethics & Tactics Highlight the management theories or principles of each reading, submit 2 pages with your interpretations: This week, we learn that resonant managers zero in on employee emotions, feelings and attitudes. The “soft side” of management is important, it is important to manage both your emotions and the emotions of your subordinates. In Toxic Emotions at Work, the author recognizes that there are times when organizations and leaders cause pain. This pain can be either intentional or unintentional. Frost says, “organizations by their very nature create a regular supply of emotional pain” (p. 245). Compassionate managers need skills to be efficient toxin handlers. Paying attention to the types of questions and musing over how individuals or the organization would answer is a great start to acknowledging emotional toxicity and pain. Organizations need to strive to increase capacity for compassionate responses within the culture. Kenneth Blanchard and Spencer Johnson offer The One Minute Manager. They do not believe that good management takes a lot of time, they base this assumption on these underlying premises: “quality of time spent with subordinates is more important than quantity; and in the end, people should really be managing themselves” (p. 270). The three strategies they recommend are one-minute goals, one-minute praisings, and one-minute reprimands. The authors admit that managers have to sincerely care about the people......
