Effective Human Resource Management In this paper I will describe some attributes of an effective human resource management strategy and how to communicate that strategy. How will the strategy unfold? Will I lead by setting a good example? Will I have to make decisions that are not very popular with the staff and employees? If I am not the one in charge, will I set an example of leadership by following to the best of my ability? Will my leadership style be respected? Will I make decisions that reflect the best interest of the employees, peers, those appointed over me, and the customers? All this will be a challenge and test how I am seen as a leader. These questions will not be answered in the next few pages. However, in the years of experience that will follow this class and the many leaders that I will try to emulate as my knowledge of human resources unfolds. I want to be an effective leader, I read in our text; the experience and leadership style of the operating manager or leader directly affect human resource management activities because many, if not most, programs must be implemented at the work-unit level. Thus, the operating manager or leader is a crucial link in the human resource management function. Leaders must orchestrate the distinctive skills, experiences, personalities, and motives of individuals. Leaders also must facilitate the interactions that occur within work groups. So leadership is one who communicates and motivates others to accomplish a task or mission with proficiency and enthusiasm. Effectiveness needs to be measured somehow and for most organizations that is measured in dollars and cents in the form of profits. This does not always mean that leadership was always great, or had the greatest impact on the outcome. I
