Introduction Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively impose domination over others. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception, by the bully or by others, of an imbalance of social or physical power. Behaviors used to assert such domination can include verbal harassment or threat, physical assault or coercion, and such acts may be directed repeatedly towards particular targets. There are four kinds of bullying in school, in which all of them is very harmful; it is Physical, Verbal, Covert, and cyber bullying Theodore Roosevelt once quoted, “Knowing what’s right doesn’t mean much unless you do what’s right.” and this quotation made by the former US president applies to everything in life. People should not commit to just knowing that something is right; they have to commit to it fully and do exactly what is right. People know that they sometimes do wrong but what they really need to do is treat people with respect, think before they commit to their actions and understand that sometimes life doesn’t offer the second chances that they often take for granted. Knowing what is right, just like knowing that people should be treated right and be respected is nonsense if you are mistreating and disrespecting other people. People should learn how to incorporate truth in their lives and they should learn to accept what is right and live with it, so that we can live in a harmonious life. As stated in the Golden Rule “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” people should treat other people as much as they treat themselves , as much as they respect themselves because we are created equal. Doing what is right could help in achieving what we really want to achieve and also can lead in creating harmonious life and surrounding. Living to what is right helps to have good and strong relationship not just with others but with yourself.

Method The methods section of a research paper provides the information by which a study’s validity is judged. Therefore, it requires a clear and precise description of how an experiment was done, and the rationale for why specific experimental procedures were chosen. The methods section should describe what was done to answer the research question, describe how it was done, justify the experimental design, and explain how the results were analyzed. Scientific writing is direct and orderly. Therefore, the methods section structure should: describe the materials used in the study, explain how the materials were prepared for the study, describe the research protocol, explain how measurements were made and what calculations were performed, and state which statistical tests were done to analyze the data.

Method of Research The Researchers used descriptive research as their method. According to “Oklahoma State University” The main goal of a descriptive survey is to obtain information concerning the current status of phenomena described with respect to the variables or conditions in a situation. The purpose of this descriptive research is to provide descriptions for each variable or describe the characteristics of data being studied The Researcher gathered data by giving questionnaires and making an observation. The Researchers choose the sophomores students (grade 8) because they have concluded that grade 8 students have enough maturity and they are in the stage where changes in their mind and body occur. The questionnaires include essays, to find out, how the respondents think, how can they help in creating peaceful and harmonious schools. The Researchers also observed the effects of bullies in the performance of particular students. Descriptive
Research fits the research topic which is bullying because it is described , interpreted and analyzed.

Abstract The study was conducted to know the effects of bullying in the student’s academic performance and personal growth and development. The study was limited only to Grade 8 High School Student of College of the Immaculate Conception because the researchers believe that these sophomore student ( grade 8 students ) are in the development stage of their life where their mind and body changes. This means that they are the perfect respondents because the researchers want to assessed the effects of bullying in the academic performance and in the Personal growth and development of the students. The effects of bullying assessed are the common effects of bullying that greatly affects the student in their academics and their growth and development. Thus through using a particular research method, the researchers were able to find out that those students who are being bullied have negative effects in their performance in school and their growth as a person. Moreover this study will provide necessary information regarding the effects of bullying in school so that schools could make necessary actions to reduce the effects if bullying.

Statement of the Problem
This Study aims to answer the following question:
Focusing Question :
How does a particular student is affected by bullying that occurs in school?
This study also sought to find out answer for the following subordinating questions:
1. How does bullying affect the students’ performance in school?
2. How does bullying affect the students’ well being and personal growth?

Scope and Delimitation This study focused on the effects of bullying in students academic performance and in personal growth and development at the College of the Immaculate Conception. The respondents were 154 randomly selected grade 8 students (22 per section) of the college of the Immaculate Conception. This study is limited to the grade 8 students in the school year 2013-2014 of the College of the Immaculate Conception. This study was conducted during the last quarter of the school year 2013-2014.

Significance of the Study
This study is intended to determine and assess the effects of bullying in academic performance and in the personal growth and development of grade 8 students of the College of the Immaculate Conception which according to the studies is considered as one of the major problems that affects the life of many students. Gathering fact is very important and crucial to come up with the assessment of data that is accurate, and dependable. This will lead to the identification of the effects of bullying, which will lead to different solution and approach to solve such cases.

The Results and gathered data of this research can be beneficial to :
Students/Learners - This research will help the student gain knowledge about the effects of bullying to their well being and, personal growth. In that case they will be able to be considerate to others because they now know what bullying can bring to their fellow students , this will also help the student s to be disciplined and prevent themselves being bullied
Teachers – This study will provide a guide to teachers in developing ideas and programs that can help eliminate the negative effects of bullying in the academic performance and in the well being and personal growth.

Parents – This study helps the parents to be aware of the on what is happening to their child and also it can help them to identify the problems of their child and help them when their children needed it.
School – This study will help the school to have an idea about the effects of bullying, in that case they may be able to conduct programs and other actions to prevent the negative effects of bullying on their students
Future Researchers – This study provide a glimpse for the future researchers. It serves as a guide or pattern for the future researchers so that they can conduct a more useful and more polished kind of research.
