Life and culture in Egypt is much different from in America. My father is a first hand witness of this, living in both countries for a long time. He has been through the good and the bad, and has seen the true difference in culture, but also the similarities, though they are thousands of miles apart. From the religion, to the education, all the way to how its ancient history, Egypt is a civilization that differs from America greatly, for better and for worse. My dad’s childhood was different from someone’s childhood in America. A big difference between the two countries is that while Americans do have small chores around the house, Egyptian children bare bigger responsibilities, such as tending to livestock and helping around at a family business. Egypt school systems were much stricter, with punishments being hits with a paddle. Along with this, mid-day lunches were much different from here. Children were usually fed a traditional Egyptian snack; cheese, bread, and cucumbers. Another large lifestyle difference between the two countries is that it’s common for children to roam the streets and stay up during the nights because the day was sometimes too hot to bare. …show more content…
He went through elementary, middle, and high school, and then went off to study at the University of Cairo. After getting his degree, he applied for a VISA, and later traveled to the US for a better opportunity than in Egypt. He would end up getting a degree in education from ESU stay in the field of education for the rest of his stay here. The education system of Egypt also differs from the US. Though both countries have 3 schools that each student must go to, Egypt teaches young people through primarily memorization rather than critical thinking. The largest difference between education systems is though in America being hit by a teacher is outlawed, discipline with a paddle is still common in Egyptian schools
