The deceit displayed in the Story Eight of the Hepatameron, was between a husband, his best friend and his wife. The husband, Bornet, devised a plan so that he and his neighbor, Sendras, could have sexual relations with the young chambermaid without his wife finding out. The plot was foiled only because the maid did not desire to have sex with Bornet. However, if she had wanted been promiscuous and devious the arrangement could have taken place without the wife becoming aware of their actions. Various factors come into play when a person attempts to mislead another on purpose. As long as careful planning and organizing is provided someone can have a save path to a punishment free evil act.
