When you understand the process of hiring and working with an electrician, it can go a long way towards helping you communicate with your electrician.

Have an Electrician Handy
Many people will only call an electrician during an emergency. You should have an electrician that you trust to help you perform routine inspections in your home to ensure that your wiring is safe. This will lower the need for emergency calls. When you build a relationship with your contractor, that person will become familiar with the home's electrical systems and could discover problems before they become emergencies.

Specialization
When you hire an electrician, you should understand what his specialty is. Many companies have specializations like commercial or …show more content…
Check that the potential electrician has a current license through your state. An electrician who isn't licensed can be a hazard to your home and create problems with the wiring or circuits. There are safety concerns that shouldn't be ignored when installing or replacing electrical work in the home. The electrician without a license might not be up-to-date on safety protocols.

Communication
Before the work begins, be sure that both you and the contractor know exactly what will happen. While there's jargon that might make it difficult to understand the work being done, you can ask your electrician to explain in layman's terms. The electrician should ease your mind as well as providing the right information for you to make a decision about your home.

Job Order or Estimate
It's helpful for both parties to have a job order or job estimate before the work begins. Sometimes, an electrician will open a wall to find that there are hidden problems, but most of the time, a simple job will not require extra work. The job order should list the details of the work to be completed. If there's more work required, that work should be brought to the homeowner's attention before it's completed. A good electrician will keep you informed of issues and concerns before he proceeds with the

...Consumer segment but with regards to the Tradesmen segment, B&D is behind. Despite its major presence in the industry, it faces a problem in the Tradesmen segment which only holds about a 9% share. This problem has been caused by a bad perception of the tradespeople regarding B&D due to its expansion into the Consumer segment shown by its successful Dustbuster® hand-held vacuum. D&B’s expansion to the Consumer segment has proved to be successful but it has also affected D&B’s image with the tradesmen who worked on residential construction. One tradesman stated, “. . . Black & Decker makes a good popcorn popper, and my wife just loves her Dustbuster, but I’m out here trying to make a living. . .” Tradesmen such as, electricians, plumbers, framers, roofers and etc are workers who are expected to show up to work with their own tools and this segment usually purchase their tools from home centers; and they regularly purchase tools for replacement basing their choices on conversations between co-workers at the job site. The fact that the households of these tradesmen use D&B as house appliances makes them think that D&B products won’t hold up in the work place making them choose other brands that focused more on the tradesmen segment. D&B looked for the source of the problem and found out that product quality was not the issue. They also did a research on the brand’s awareness and found that D&B is the most known power tool suppliers with 98%...

Plumbing

...Kevin McPheeters Instructor’ Choice Assignment Fall2012-ECO2023-Princ Economics II-372686 November 3, 2012 Plumbing In my current position, I have the chance to dabble in many of your typical industrial trades such as electrical work, carpentry, welding and plumbing. As much as I enjoy this type of work, my job requirements create limitations to my knowledge and experience. I work in a maintenance capacity; therefore it is helpful to know a little bit about a lot, as opposed to being experienced in exclusively one trade. All of the aforementioned trades are suffering a shortage of qualified employees, so the opportunity exists to get into any of them and succeed, career wise as well as monetarily. It just amounts to how hard one is willing to work on what are generally considered unglamorous trades. For the purpose of this assignment I am going to focus on opportunities in the plumbing trade. Plumbers are tradesmen that are generally qualified for a wide range of responsibilities, and also need some experience in other trades such as carpentry and welding. Plumbers can handle jobs as simple as one man unplugging a toilet all the way to an entire company dedicating its workforce to constructing a skyscraper. They can handle everything from plastic pipe and glue to cast iron pipes and a welding rig. If they are working on a house, they would need some carpentry skills for plumbing installation. Plumbers have an advantage over some of the other construction related trades...

There are many cases in which the whole houses have been set on fire just because of the negligence and unprofessionalism of the electrician during wiring. So this is not a matter to be in a tearing hurry, instead it’s a very thoughtful decision which you need to make keeping several important considerations in mind. Checklist for selecting an electrician: • Has your electrician got the electrical license? • Is he qualified sufficient to perform serious electrical activities? • Is he experienced enough? • Can he provide the references? • Does the price he has quoted is fair in the competitive market? • Has he got a professional attitude? Let’s discuss these important considerations in detail. GOVERNMENT ISSUED LICENSE The foremost thing to consider before picking the electrician is whether the he has got the government issued electrical license. It will be extremely precarious to hire an electrician who is not registered to any recognized organization and is not lawfully authorized to perform electrical tasks. QUALIFICATION It is reliable to hire an electrician who has the relevant certifications...

How to Choose the Best Electrical Contractor

...and competent electrician for your home or business can be an uphill task. This can be even more challenging especially if you don’t know exactly what you want. This is so because you know that there’s a problem but you don’t have the particular know-how to establish the source of the problem. There are specific traits that one should look at when choosing an electrical contractor. First, an electrical contractor should have valid and up-to-date legal documents. This will help in certifying whether the electrician’s practice is recognized by the regulating body. One should make sure that the electrician is licensed to work in the specific geographical area and in the specific field. Secondly, a good electric contractor should be versatile in that he/she is able to adapt to the changing demands of the client. A client may have last minute change of thought thus requiring a change in the electrical fixtures in a particular place which was not initially planned for. Such an electric contractor should be able to offer the pros and cons of changing positions of fittings such that the client arrives at a satisfactory final decision. Experience is also a key factor when looking for the best suited electric contractor. An electrician who has been in the practice over the years has the requisite know-how of handling the different needs of a client. Such an electric contractor will be able to get the job done timely and efficiently. Another trait of a good electrician is reliability...

I have always been driven to succeed in my endeavors. I didn`t actually realize this potential in myself until after high school. Having lived on his farm for coming up 40 years, he said that he has just about got the house exactly the way he wants it. Everywhere one looks, evidence can be seen of the work he has put into his home. A stained oak veranda wraps around the front of the house, with both stairs and a ramp leading off of it. Although he lives alone, since the passing of his wife 4 years ago, he keeps the interior tidy and virtually dust free. No clutter was evident anywhere and the hardwood floors gleamed, looking regularly swept and polished. Market Segmentation and Product Positioning

...Market Segmentation and Product Positioning Assignment One January 18, 2011 Abstract The key to successful product implementation in today’s national enterprise system is the effective marketing of a new product with the company’s line of existing products. As stated by Iacobucci (2010) (p.3), marketing is defined as an exchange between a company and its customers. In simple terms, the customer wants something from the company or firm and vice versa. In previous times, a company would manufacture a product they thought the customer would want and/or need. The customer purchased that product because of a pending need which basically meant that marketing used to be product oriented. However, marketing today is more that an advertisement for goods and services in an attempt to attract new business. We live in a customer orientated and empowered marketing environment (p.5). We realize the importance and ramifications of having an exchange with our customers and developing a relationship with them. It is this exchange of information between our company and our existing as well as future customers that secures our position in our target market. Our company is a regional tool distributor located in the north eastern section of the United States. Our customer base consists of several major retailers, nationally known in the retail and wholesale tool industry. We use the brand label Steel City Tools for marketing and distribution of our products. This research...
