Emerging Mobile Technologies:
I am always interested in learning about emerging technologies.. The technology I want to discuss is not new because it has already been started by Google years ago but now Apple has come in the picture to introduce the same sort of technology (Apple Pay) but with different dimensions. Apple engaged all the major banks of United States in to this technology to make it more secure and reliable.
Apple pay is a new way of conducting transactions using iPhone 6, iPhone 6 plus and iPhone watch. The way it works is that the user can store all the credit card and debit card information in their respective iPhone/Apple Watch and once their information is validated from their bank they no longer need to carry the big wallet full of cards. Instead they can pay using their iPhone or apple watch without sliding a card and giving any account information to the cashier.
"Apple Pay relies on near field communications (NFC), a secure chip on the iPhone 6 to mask credit card numbers and a system that delivers a one-time number to retailers to close transactions. Apple also said it won't track what you've bought or what you paid for it. Toss in TouchID as a verification tool and Apple Pay may have enough secret sauce to be a payment player" (Larry Dignan, 09/10/2014, zdnet.com).
Apple pay is just not limited to in store purchases but is also available for online purchasing. Apple pay users will not have to fill any forms online anymore or enter their account information on the web sites. Instead they will be able to make payments by just one click which is time saving and very secure.
PayPal's future is in question after Apple pay but it also depends on many other factors. One of the factor is that Apple pay is only available on iPhone 6 and Apple watch so it will take time to upgrade all the end users to iPhone 6 or Apple Watch. Apple has to increase the number of users using iPhone which is roughly around 19% as compare to other Smart phones usage. Overall the idea Apple came with while having all the big credit and debit card companies on board will definitely give it some advantage and slowly it can be the most used application.
Search Engine Used:
Search engine used Google and Bing.
Was one search engine better than the other?
While doing my search on different search engines for the same topic both search engines gave me almost the same results on the first page. If we talk about the database there is no doubt that Google database is bigger than Bing and the reason behind that is Google showed about 443,000,000 & Bing Showed about 39,300,000 results for the same topic. Due to more usage of Google most of its search results on the top were from sponsors while in Bing the results were based on page ranking. Both were able to show the exact topic I was looking for. It's hard to choose between them because search engine job is to provide with the relative information which they both did. After that it depends on the end user what he/she may like or not and it has nothing to do with search engine. It's actually the reader's choice.
TRAAP:

1.Time –when was it written? Has it been updated?

The article I chose was from cnet.com and it was written on September 9, 2014 11:08 AM PDT and Updated on September 9, 2014 12:42 PM PDT.

2.Relevance –does it relate to your topic or answer your question?

It was relative to my topic and it covers all the answers I was looking for.

3.Authority –who is the author(s)? Are they qualified to write about this topic? How do you know?

This article is very authentic in a ways that first of all I took it from cnet.com which is well known website when it comes to technology. The author of this topic is Lynn La. She is CNET's associate editor for cell phone and smartphone news and reviews. Prior to coming to CNET, she wrote for the Sacramento Bee and was a staff editor at Macworld. In addition to covering technology, she has reported on health, science, and politics.

4.Accurate –is the information trustworthy? Is it supported by evidence? Has it been tested for accuracy?

This information is trustworthy because it from reliable website and author supported her topic with the evidence from Apple. This is a developing story being covered in real time.

5.Purpose –why was it written, to inform, sell, persuade? Is there a bias or is the material objective?

The material is objective and the purpose of this article was to provide information to consumers who are interested in emerging technologies. The article is only for information purposes.

Two scholarly journal articles from the CCBC library databases.
The keywords I used were Virtual wallet and smartphone applications. The database I used is ProQuest Science Journals. ProQuest Science Journals are the best source for student studying applied and general sciences. It covers most of the subjects under general science, computer science, telecommunication etc. My topics also were also related to these subjects so that is why I chose this database.

If I have to compare both article and journal the first thing I want to discuss is ease of access. Internet article was pretty much available upfront. I didn't have to go through categories and databases to look for the topic I was interested in. On the other hand I took some steps before I reached the actual article I was looking for. Timeline is another important factor when doing a comparison. In my search for internet article as well as Journal they were both well timed. Last but not the least is authentication of the article and journal. The internet article was more specific to one application however the scholarly journal was proving the same information in broader perspective. They are both authentic as they were from reputable sources but scholarly journal of course are more authentic in a sense that the material is published after a lot of research. In my search they both were authentic because of a reputable source and authenticity of the author.

Best Buy Critical Analysis

...Best Buy On the Brink Background Best Buy and Circuit City were the two major brick and mortar stores where consumers were able to purchase electronics. With the rising technology and E-commerce, Circuit City was not able to adapt to the changing environment and now Best Buy is on the same path as its former competitor. Best Buy had to close down fifty stores and fire over 400 employees due to its poor financial performance. Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn explained that there was no innovation by the company to adapt to the changing market on how consumers were purchasing electronics. Consumers are now price comparing with Best Buy’s products with online retailers. Online competitors of Best Buy are utilizing the new emerging technologies to help make purchasing of products convenient to the consumers. Problem Statement Best Buy is on a slow downward slope towards bankruptcy, if the company does not have any new innovation in the way it sells its products to consumers. Best Buy needs to understand how consumers are purchasing electronics and restructure how its employees are interacting with customers. Amazon is taking advantage of being an online retailer which means that Best Buy has to take advantage of their physical locations. Alternative Solutions One of the strategies Best Buy can implement is to offer a price match guarantee to the customers if they can find a lower price than Best Buy’s products then Best Buy will match the price. This strategy will attract more customers...

Electronic Commerce Research

...Available online 2 July 2004 Abstract Electronic commerce (E-commerce) innovating applications have posed novel, technical, organizational and commercial challenges. This study uses a hypercube model to investigate these innovative changes and focuses on their impacts on E-commerce stakeholders: providers, E-commerce companies, customers, and complementors. The results indicate that mobile commerce (M-commerce) differs substantially from Web-based commerce in some technological components, yet both share common business model. However, from Web-based to M-commerce, innovation is architectural for customers and E-commerce companies, but a radical change for complementors. From M-commerce to Ucommerce, innovation is modular to customers, architectural to complementors and radical to E-commerce companies and providers. Thereafter, the critical impacts of E-commerce innovations on the stakeholders are identified. Ó 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
