Two different people, two totally different stories. How is Emmett Till and Tom Robinson alike and different even though they are from two totally different stories? One is from a report of Emmett Till and the other from To Kill A Mockingbird. First off they are going to be the same in many ways but there is going to be differences along the way. So I am going to tell you the likes and differences from Emmett Till and Tom Robinson. These two characters can be alike and here is how they both disobeyed the civil rights. First off let’s start with Tom Robinson. Robinson was accused of raping a girl but he was called to court unlike with Emmett where on August 28, he didn't know this was happening so Roy Bryant cashier’s son, and J.W. Milam, who is Bryant’s half brother, and made their way into the Wright’s home which then they abducted Till. The two men beat Till, gouged out out one of the eyes. Then later on took him to the Tallahatchie River, where they then killed the man. Back to Tom, he was never severely beat like Emmett was, because Atticus believed that everyone should be treated the same so he helped Tom out, because he knew the consequences if everyone believed with what was being said by Ewell’s daughter. Also Emmett Till didn’t think that anything bad would happen, because he didn’t know the South and that’s why he should’ve listened to his mother about how the South treats things differently than they do in the North. Robinson also got to return home with not being hurt, because Atticus was helping him. Till didn’t get the luxury of being safe, because one blink of an eye and people were hurting him and then moments later was then killed and thrown into the Tallahatchie
