Sime Darby is one of the leading light of Malaysia’s economy. The company is playing a role as a diversified Multinational Corporation in conjunctions with few multi huge business sectors such as plantations, property, motors, industrial equipment, energy and utilities and healthcare, with operations in more than 20 countries. Over the past 200 years, Sime Darby has been through stages starting up from the scratch of an organization that shaped the society into a progressive way. The company states a simple yet achievable mission statement or a purpose “Making A Sustainable Future Real for Everyone”.
This statement can be easily defined as bringing the company goals to a foreseeable future. Although the purpose is stated as simple as it does, but maintaining an organization within the hypercompetitive market should incorporated with great strategies. A purpose is a statement or a goal that states the desire of what an organizations aim to achieve. Moreover, it acts as a motivation quotes for employees to work as part of the company’s asset rather than a cost. It may seem the organization sustains a very valuable purpose for the company but the resolutions was not sufficient to pull the organization together and describes the organization’s value and aspirations.
The purpose can be improved in a better way by defining the organization mission statement in a clearer manner. Without a clear mission, organization will not be heading on the right path and in turns create chaos witnin every single project. Moreover, Sime Darby is one of the top public listed companies that enhance the economy growth in Malaysia. Therefore, it is important for an organization to set up goals and plans in determining what the organization desires to be in the future. Strategic plans are actions that need to be design by organization to achieve the strategic goals. Sime Darby is one of the largest listed palm oil companies in the world. This leads to the awareness of the organization’s purpose intention.
Subsequently, Sime Darby has the opportunities to alter the Malaysia economics by setting up a constructive purpose for the entire organizations to follow. Bringing people together and heading to a sustainable future is a big step. It may seems difficult but the company is the world leading organization in Asia which provide services that demanded by many other countries. In conclusion, Sime Darby is a world leading organization with providing goods and services that useful to the society. In times to come, the organization needs to achieve a more passionate goal to bring the company as a whole to a better sustainable future. A clear purpose will assist them to a very potential competitive company in the world.

Corporate cultures are set of key values, beliefs, understandings and norms shared by members of organization (Daft, 2010). Corporate cultures are beliefs on how managers organize tasks within an organization. Culture is a way for all employees to cope with the internal and external environment in an appropriate manner and uniform thoughts as a whole. In Sime Darby, there are four important values that will whittle the organizations to a better way of dealing with daily operations and business worldwide. The four fundamental values are respect & responsibility, excellence, enterprising and integrity.
In every organization, respect and responsibility are the main prominent rules. Some may argues that figureheads are the one who in charge on and subordinates will only need to listen. However, Sime Darby management team respects all the employees in the way they carried out their tasks. Every person want to be treated as the same way they does, by sharing knowledge and taking ownership of their own decisions and results will lead employees to the right way. Naturally, a company would expect excellence outcome from all the business projects. Sime Darby set an ultimate goal where employees are able to achieve it challenging and measurable goals set by the organization. This is likely due to the being the largest listed palm oil in the world, the organization expect a good excellence outcome from the employees.
Furthermore, Sime Darby is well aware of the fluctuations of economics in the world finances. The culture set to be more enterprising as to adapt changes at any point of time when any transformations occur. Being enterprising is not more than just adapting changes; Sime Darby will look into future and act appropriately in as a way for a better success tomorrow. Additionally, every business and project Sime Darby deals with is able to be seen by public. Integrity in essence, calls for honesty and transparency in everything that we do (Sime Darby, 2010). They will be fair in providing all information reliably and making up all the promise they offered. Integrity is the password appearing in Sime Darby as business promises are always important. If customers lost on faith towards the organizations it propose that the company is not satisfying the consumers’ satisfaction and it is not within the right directions.
In conclusion, a good set of corporate cultures will convey a significant message across the whole organizations. These sets of cultures are not built in just a night. Sime Darby has been through several mergers and acquisition before being such a huge organization in Malaysia. All these cultures are purely base on their past experience on beliefs and actions that form a firm foundation of Sime Darby today.
