Let us say something about Energy that I know while I was in high school Physics class. Energy is usually defined as the ability to do work. In general; we would say that energy is fundamental entity whose availability and flow are required for all phenomena, natural or artificial. Energy neither be created nor destroyed; rather it is changed from one form to another. That means mechanical energy, such as the kinetic energy of motion can be converted to heat energy.
Let’s come to the type of energy source used by cell?
Cells seek their energy in the form of food molecules or sunlight. The Sun is the ultimate source of energy for almost all cells, because photosynthetic prokaryotes, algae, and plant cells uses solar energy to make the complex organic food molecules that other cells rely on for the energy required sustaining growth, metabolism, and reproduction. Complex organic food molecules such as sugars, fats, and proteins are rich sources of energy for cells.
Prokaryotic or Eukaryotic Cells do not use the energy from oxidation reactions as soon as it is released. Instead, they convert it into small, energy-rich molecules such as ATP and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH), which can be used throughout the cell to power metabolism and construct new cellular components.
Passive Transport is one form of energy transfer in a cell that does not require the use of energy, molecules move randomly in a cell and molecules spread out in a cell from an area of high concentration to low concentration. There are also three type of Passive transporting in a cell: - Diffusion, Facilitative Diffusion and Osmosis. Active Transport is that cell requires uses of energy; molecules move actively where they are needed and movement of molecules from an area of low concentration to high concentration. There are also three types of active transport: - Protein Pumps, endocytosis and exocytosis.
In case of Passive transport there in no specific energy used to transport molecules in a cell. The process uses concentration gradient (Example, the movement of two different gas elements in one medium). But in case of Active Transport there are specific energy used to transport molecules in a cell which is ATP and Protein carrier (Example, the movement of sodium Potassium pump by using ADP in a cell membrane).

Sci/275 Week 8 Energy Resources Plan

...Energy Resources Plan All of us use energy every day for entertainment, cooking, transportation, lighting, heating and cooling homes, manufacturing, etc. We consume a lot of energy. The United States consumes about one fourth of the world's energy resources. When energy is produced from non-renewable fuels, to heat our homes or power our cars for example, pollutants are released into the air contaminating the air we breathe and water too. The more energy we use or miles we drive in our cars, the more energy power plants must produce or gasoline our cars burn, releasing more pollutants into the air. Renewable energy alternatives have many challenges, and managing these resources has become a nightmare. Renewable alternatives such as wind, solar, biofuels, and hydroelectric have become very popular as an alternative to nonrenewable energy resources. The first renewable energy alternative is wind energy. Because wind will always be around, the use of wind turbines is an energy alternative. A big challenge is that we cannot control the wind; some days it is strong and other days it is calm. Solar energy is another energy alternative. Photovoltaic solar electricity is the technology that is most cost effective to consumers in the United States. The greatest challenge to solar energy is that for 12 hours a day we do not have any sunlight, and there are days when it is to cloudy. Biofuels are derived from biomass (organic material) plants and animal waste. With today’s...

...Currently, I approach weekly course reading material in a fairly unconventional way. My weekdays are usually incredibly hectic between my job of working with my clients and my day to day personal life with my children, so finding any quality reading time is hard during the day time hours. I generally have all reading material downloaded to my laptop in advance as we all should so I can get in a bit of reading time during my break time and my clients nap time. The problem with this is, even though it is quiet and my break time, there is still quite a bit of activity going on around me having to deal with small odds and ends, breaking any concentration I have and understanding of the text. I do get a small amount of time in peace when I get home and right before the kids get home after school in which I use to get in some reading and study time. This time is definitely quality time as my concentration is at its greatest and I can get something done. The night hours, usually after dinner, is where things have been really difficult as this is the time where the bulk of my study and reading time is. Thankfully my fiancée has begun to rectify this problem for me (when he is home from work himself) by keeping the kids busy with various things and away from me during this time so I can actually get quite a bit done in peace and...

My grandmother was right when she quoted this truthful sentence. London’s energy is stunning, it gives many opportunities to anyone who wants to make a change; creativity and innovation are on the agenda. These are the reasons why it is so special. The US-based analytics company Global Language Monitor awarded London as the capital of fashion for the second consecutive year in 2012 (Vogue news, sept 2012) and London deserved it all for sure. People feel good in expressing themselves, no matter which kind of style they fit in, no matter whether they follow minimal total black or eccentric and colourful trends. London’s peculiarity involves the different shopping areas offered to the fashion world, where customers can find their own personal space and keep always up to date with their favourite trends. From the high street middle market fashion to the haute couture, from the punk that will never die to the new special trends. Fashion changes quickly. “It is important for past styles...

...3. To calculate the total cost of operating these devices for one week, first you have to find the power rating in watts of your devices. After you find the power rating in kilowatt hour. To find this you divide the power rating in watts by 1000. After you find how much time you use this device and find the total of minutes and then you convert minutes to hours (divide by 60) Lastly you find the cost per kWh. The equation to find the cost per kWh is power x time x rate. You will record this for 5 days and then add all the cost per kWh and this is how you find the total cost for a week. To find the total cost of operating these devices for a year, you take the total cost of one week for each device and multiply that by 52 because there are 52 weeks in a year. (2016) 4. Referring to my own energy audit information, these are the ways I can reduce my families hydro/electricity bill. First of all, when I'm using the hair dryer, I should only blow dry my hair for less amount of time because I can leave the rest of my hair to air dry and this might reduce the cost because I am using less energy. The next way I can reduce energy is when I leave my room, I should turn off my room lights. I usually have a habit of leaving the lights on as I go from room to room. The last way I can reduce my families electricity bill is at night I should unplug my phone from my charger. Phones only take about one to two hours to charge but sometimes I forget to unplug it and it ends up charging all...

Metabolic Demands of a Professional Football Player

...Players require a diet that provides sufficient macro and micro nutrients, as well as fluid intakes, to allow them to meet the demands of the sport. As well as providing a daily balanced diet, strategic intake of carbohydrate and protein before and after training sessions can optimise performance and recovery. As each player is unique so will requirements need to be tailored to the individual to manipulate and match energy intakes with expenditure. 2. Introduction There is consensus in scientific literature that athletic performance and recovery after exercise are enhanced by optimal nutrition. (Bean, 2009). What an athlete chooses to eat and drink will have direct influence on health, body composition and weight, substrates for fuel during exercise, recovery time after exercise and overall performance. (J Am Diet Assoc. 2000). For the professional soccer player engaging in a number of training sessions in a day or more than one match per week the energy costs can be significant. Soccer players perform high intensity, intermittent activity during a typical training week, involving speed, strength and endurance. (Bangsbo et al, 2006). This...
