A DAY OF RESPECT

It was a regular day at my college I was in my class, we were in the between of our class staring at the clock trying to just escape from there as soon as possible just like other average students, then the door opens at the Ms. Bonny comes in and tells us about a Christmas eve party, we have to organize for a renowned restaurant chain owner named DALLAS. THE DALLAS ROTISSERIE, which was quite famous for their fries and burgers all over the island. As she was telling us all the details about the company and their history and the duties, which we will be supposed to do, I was really confused that why are we doing this and what it will be and how they will be going to treat us like these are some of the questions which kept on arising in my head continuously.
But suddenly from the storm of questions a voice came from Ms. Bonny so who’s going to be our leaders and I got the most shocking answer from my fellow students and agreeing to them, I was going to be the leader of the team and I will be handling all the members taking care of the team members frozen and confused, I was completely astounded that what was going around and why I’ve been selected as a leader of them. It was completely something I was expecting from myself and from my life.
It was a day where I would say I was proud of myself, the event was after three days of the notice and I started preparing myself in both physical and mental manner, buying clothes, shoes and other stuff was making me feel like a repudiated person already and the messages from my friends and fellow classmates was adding to it and some of the close ones was sometimes also trying to do some fun by calling me YES SIR!! YES SIR!! At times although that was fun but still it gave me a feeling of respect,

The reason I chose this topic is to express my ideas and explain the advantages and disadvantages of carrying guns while studying, working, etc. The audience I especially want to focus on is young teenagers and young adults. There are several reasons why citizens should be permitted to carry weapons to their workplace: uses in fights, uses while nervous, and uses when filthy language said, mockeries. My second topic is should the government offer tax credits for the purchase of hybrid or alternative energy vehicles? The reason I chose this topic is to let people know that regarding our own benefits or favorite cars we also have to think about the society and the air pollution that each car pollutes till the maximum. Each Americans spend an average of 800 gallons of gas annually, and they expect the air to be totally clear. ...Keisha never tried really hard in high school but still managed to graduate with a 3.0 GPA. She is in her first semester of college and is taking 12 credit hours: ACA 111, HSC 110, ENG 111, PSY 150, and developmental math. She’s doing well in most of her classes except for ENG 111 and PSY 150. Both courses regularly have multiple chapter reading assignments. In PSY 150, she failed her first test and all three of her quizzes. In ENG 111, she hasn’t had a test yet, but she feels completely lost. Keisha struggles to complete all her reading assignments and is really having a hard time finding an effective way to take notes while in class. When Keisha tries to read some of the chapters, she often reads at the end of the day. She never starts reading with an intention or a goal in mind. She has tried reading in the kitchen and in the living room while her roommates watch television, but she easily gets distracted. In class, Keisha vigorously tries to write down everything her instructor says. She is often so focused on writing exactly what her instructor says, that she doesn’t truly hear the material the instructor is covering. When Keisha does try to review her notes after class, she has trouble reading what she wrote. She gets frustrated and gives up. Keisha is thinking about dropping ENG 111 and PSY 150. Your Assignment Put yourself in Keisha’s shoes. If you were struggling in one of these areas (Reading or Note-Taking), what would you do differently? How...

Experiences as a Writer

...My Experiences as a Writer Sadie Brown ENG.090 Dr. L. Dennis Strayer University December 7, 2011 My Experiences as a Writer I experienced writing at the age of 3, scribbling and doodling, and then I began to write my name. By the time I reached grade school was the first time I wrote an essay. I have written other things such as poems and a couple of personal letters. Since then, it’s been difficult to write because I no longer have inspiration. I like to write but have little enjoyment doing so; I guess you can say I lost my muse. Nowadays I basically just write little notes to myself and maybe a love letter from time to time, not giving them to anyone in particular. Other than that I really don’t do much writing anymore. Nothing seems to inspire me. My concerns as a writer is that I may not be as good as I think. I feel that I will fail and get rejected. I know rejection is a hard pill for anyone to swallow. Writing is good in many ways because you can express yourself, expand your vocabulary and spelling, and use your imagination. Writing can be enjoyable and frustrating at times. It doesn’t take much to become a writer. All you have to do is start writing. Let the pencil take you away in exploring your thoughts on paper. These are just a few experiences I’ve had as a writer. I really can’t say what good experience I’ve had as a writer other than the writing I do personally that only I can see and judge. My bad experiences seem to...
