Supervisor
Multiple Development Industries Inc. addresss... Dear Remick Airlines,
Error shipping document number: RA213865

The Megablitz Drill that was arranged to be shipped to me on Tuesday September 17, 2013, through your airlines to the above address did not arrive, and was sent on the wrong flight. Consequently I am requesting reimbursement of the extra expenses I incurred due to the fact drill I ordered needed to be rented in my city.

I am a supervisor with Multiple Development Industries Inc. I am supervising the installation of environmental equipment at a new office here in Thunder. This large project required the Megablitz 400 drill, in which I needed your services to fly this drill from Chicago to Thunder Bay.

The Megablitz 400 drill was supposed to be shipped to me in Thunder Bay on last Tuesday on the 6:15 am flight. My company rented the drill to me and was to be used round-the-clock for 48 hours and the returned on Friday morning. (MDI rental number; MDI 3546) After a four-hour delay I found out that it had been shipped to Seoul, South Korea, and would not arrive until Friday.

The Multiple Development Industries Inc. (MDI) in Chicago sent a special five-person drilling crew as well as hired eight other drillers from Thunder Bay for the project, through Morton Installers. The MDI drillers were paid $600 per person each day, and the local drillers $200, $4600 per day for all of them. I now had 13 expensive drillers in Thunder Bay with nothing to do and no drill to do anything with.

Considering there was no drill, I would now be paying these drillers for four days with no work. I then researched a local company, Bottner Drilling Equipment Ltd. that would rent me the Megablitz drill for 48 hours but 15,000 over what I would have paid. (Rental Invoice BDE3567) My company would have charged $2000 a day for four days. As a result of having no drill, the project had to be delayed, workers had no work for a period of time, and last our company lost a considerable amount of money. I am extremely unsatisfied on what has occurred and find this extremely unacceptable.

Please send me a cheque for $15,000 for the difference between the original rental cost and the local rental cost on account of the drill not arriving. At the current rate of exchange, the Canadian equivalent to the US dollar is $14,674.23.

Sincerely

Accoutning Letters

...Letters Accountants write letters of variety of people, different types of accountant writes different letters to different types of people. There are some principles of good letter writing that are introduced in this chapter such as: organization, style, tone, and format. Before we start with the letter, we need to have a clear understanding of what the letter should cover so that we won’t forget something important. The length of the letter doesn’t matter although many letters are no longer than a page. We also need to analyze the purpose of the letter before we start writing it. It’s also important to think about the reader that we are writing to, the reader’s knowledge and experience should determine how much detail we should use in our business letters. Sometimes we much explain complex accounting procedures in the words that a non-accountant can understand. Our letter is organized into an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. The introduction of the letter should address the main idea that we are trying to express and the purpose of the letter that we are writing. The body of the letter is divided into different discussions of each topic. Arrange the topics in descending order of importance from the reader’s point of view, this is really important. The conclusion may be a conventional courteous closing: thank you very much for your help. The conclusion is also a good place to tell the reader what we want him or her to do, or what we will do to follow up on the subjects...

The reaction of Sir Peter Jackson to claims by animal wranglers that animals died during shooting of the Hobbit spoke volumes of his awareness and sensitivity to the new environment. Photo / Supplied The disclaimer "no animal was harmed in the making of this film" has become a standard phrase of popular culture. So accustomed are we to seeing it among films' closing credits, and so material has it become, that it is startling to realise it is a recent innovation. Just over three decades ago, Hollywood was casually ignoring any concerns about animal cruelty in major movies such as Apocalypse Now and Heaven's Gate. In Apocalypse Now, a water buffalo was slaughtered with a machete, and Michael Cimino's flop western included chickens dying in staged cockfights. Such instances were not particularly unusual in the history of film-making. Perhaps 100 horses were, for example, killed during the making of the original Ben Hur in 1926. Customarily, this was justified on the grounds of artistic merit. But the outcry that greeted Heaven's Gate indicated this excuse would no longer suffice in a society increasingly opposed to animal maltreatment...

The major differences between school writing and business writing School writing, typically in the form of essays, is aimed at impressing the audience, i.e. examiners. Business writers, however, mainly aim to communicate information to their colleagues, clients, and other associated parties. The detailed plan is not adhered to in actual writing. Writers frequently come up with ideas that are activated in the process of writing. Writers read the text they have already produced to help generate more ideas. In effect, the writing process is no linear at all but is characterized by recursive ness and creativeness. III. Art of Business Writing

...The Art of Writing Business Letters Write letter in a manner such as to secure the respect and consideration of the person with whom you correspond. The rules for the mechanical execution of a letter are few; understanding and observing the rules already considered for composition, the writer has only to study perfect naturalness of expression, to write a letter well. [pic][pic] Variously missing from their letters are headings, dates, inside addresses, salutations and complimentary closings. And the forms are disheveled. Frankly, in terms of form, often I am unable to distinguish any discernible differences between letters written by students, their teachers and by many other professionals. Apparently, for many, the art of writing a standard business letter has been lost. What are considered essential elements for a standard business letter. Know the format. Whatever the content of your letter, visually it should resemble the picture below. Note that business letters are composed in common fonts such as Arial or Times New Roman, and that they are justified to the left. Most employ block paragraphing - i.e., to start a new paragraph, hit "return" twice and don't use an indent. [pic] [pic] Letterhead. Include the sender's company and the company address; if you're self-employed or an independent contractor, add your name either in place of the company name or on top of it. Business letters are used when the writer would like to be formal and professional. Letters may vary in length depending on the writer's objective, purpose, and message of the letter. The letter can address anyone including, but not limited to: clients and customers, managers, agencies, suppliers, and other business personnel or organizations. It is important to remember that any business letter is a legal document between the interested parties. These documents can be held for up to seven years, so it is important that all information is honest and legitimate. The Difference Between a Business letter and other letters The main thing that differentiates a business letter from other letters is that a business letter is a legal document. The writer can be held liable for anything written in the letter. For example, if it is stated that a project will be completed by a certain date in a business letter, the project legally must be completed by that date. However, if the project can't be completed by that date, another letter can be written stating that the project is behind schedule and why. For this reason, business letters must be written differently than letters used for personal use. A business letter is...

...the hired position. I appreciate your time to meet with me and look forward to hearing from you soon. When will I be hired? Sincerely, Bennie Yako Analysis Ending this very professional and to the point letter with when will I be hired seems pushy and may come across as overconfidence. Instead Bennie could have ended the letter with I appreciate your time and I look forward to the opportunity to speak to you further about this position. The positive side of this appreciation letter is that he mentioned details like appreciating the company mission and employee incentives, this shows the employer that he was well engaged in the interview. I believe this writing style could have been written more professionally, should be in a business letter format (address and contact information for both parties at the top, date etc.). Example 2: I failed my exam because I locked my keys in my car and couldn’t get my textbook until well after midnight so I couldn’t study. Analysis If it were true that he locked his keys in his car and couldn’t get his textbook until midnight it has no relevance to him failing his exam. As a student one must take responsibility for his/her schoolwork. Waiting until the night before the test to do the wok is unacceptable. In this letter to his teacher he could have mentioned the circumstances he felt hindered him from doing well on his test and then suggested a possible resolution, such as requesting a re-test or asking for some extra credit to...
