Sometimes, all success wants from you is for you to fight for it. The only things that success denies you of are the things you aren’t willing to fight for. Attending The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fate Event, made me realize something that is bigger than I. Mr. Wes said, “in order to be successful in life you have to fight for something that is worth the fight”. Fighting is not something a wise person would recommend doing, but in life, there are some things that are worth the fight no matter what the cost of the battle is. One is going to have to remember, fights don’t really have to be physical. In my life there are a few things-that are worth fighting for, my God, my life, my family, and my education. The most important thing to fight for is my God. My Father usually tells me, …show more content…
Mr. Wes understands life, he understands that life is one big test given to us by God. A test where only the wise can pass. A test only those who understand that-only by learning from others mistakes, only then you can succeed. Neil Patel once said, “Average people learn from their mistakes. Smart people learn from other people’s mistakes”. Mr. Patel understood that life is a very short trip, that one can’t possibly live long enough to make all the mistakes and learn from them all. Through learning from other mistakes, Mr. Wes now knows that others is mistakes is the only way to learn what is worth fighting for and what is not. Mr. Wes had a very complicated life when growing up, but like people say, “what doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger”. Mr. Wes was asked by an individual, “what is one thing that you regret ever doing? He said, “I regret many things that I did in my past life. I hurt a lot of people that didn’t deserve to get hurt, I closed many doors through that process, but I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for my mistakes and the choices that I made. I mentioned before, just through the way he spoke, it proves that he is very

Toni Cade Bambara's the Lesson: the Impact of Poverty on Education

...the summertime in New York, where the children are out of school, playing and having fun; but when a new neighbor Miss Moore move in, things change. Miss Moore is an educated African American woman, who embarks on an educational journey with the children. She realizes that the children lack experience and knowledge of a world outside of poverty, so she takes them on a trip outside their element. According to Marchino’s critical analysis, the goal is that they “realize wealth is unfairly and unequally distributed (2)”. In doing so, Miss Moore have the children figuring cab fare, tips, prices of toys, evaluating unnecessary spending, and diversity. Sylvia recalls her youth by stating “‘back in the days when everyone was old and stupid or young and foolish and me and Sugar were the only ones just right’” (Bambara 385). According to Sylvia, community elders did not know anything, but that she had all the answers. She appears to be an intelligent, smart mouth and disrespectful youth because of her tone throughout the story. Her foul language throughout the story appears distasteful and unwarranted. However, to someone who understands where she come from and shares similar experiences this maybe normal. Most children who live in the ghetto are rude, sassy, disrespectful, and they lack the proper resources for an education. The children’s parents trust Miss Moore to care for them because they dress and groom them every weekend before sending them off with her. “Our parents would yank...

The utilization of such marketing tools may ensure a successful long-term venture. Grocery stores are often be dominated by female customers. Women are generally considered to be the primary purchasers of personal and family clothing and gifts. Discount stores are popular with women due to the availability of lower priced cosmetics and beauty products. Advertisements for groceries, clothing, household products, cosmetics and cooking are on television, in magazines and can be found on most social networking websites. But, what other products do women purchase? Specifically, what products may be appealing to single and/or retired women and how should these products be marketed to such a segment of the buying pool? Any company seeking to tap into the female buying power, which is stronger now than ever before, would be well-advised to research the market trends and consider products that may attract a newer segment of female buyers. As an unmarried childless woman in her early forties I can attest to the fact that not all women are interested in products...

Wine - Historical Overview

...the last 10,000 years alcohol consumption was common, it was also uniquely culturally contextual. Dutch archeologist Marijke Van der Veen claims that “[studying] the production, preparation, consumption, and disposal can help identify the social context of food” (Van der Veen 2006: 407). A more traditional archeological approach focuses less on the production of food due to its “transient nature”.[3] Ethnographic research can provide more information about consumption practices as can historic sources, but we need more information from actual artifacts found at sites around the world. With artifacts, we can provide a more conclusive picture of how different cultures produced, consumed, valued or tabooed, alcohol. Analysis of residues on ceramics provides valuable knowledge about food production practices and trade. However, it is important not to neglect other links in the chain of human food and drink use, most notably consumption itself, the facet of culture we know the least about. ALCOHOL IN PREHISTORIC SOCIETIES: There is ample evidence of small-scale fruit...

Labor, Social Capital, and Health; an Empirical Analysis

...Julian LaFarge Labor Force and Employment 06/07/2012 Employment, Social Capital, and Health: An Empirical Analysis                                           The United States labor force has been undergoing massive changes in over the past 30 or so years. More people are working as the population continues to rise, but even more so people with more diverse backgrounds and demographics are entering the work force or clamoring for jobs, as how the economy is currently structured seems to predict that individuals who would like to enter the labor force won’t be able to. Sociologists White and Cunneen contend that “structural unemployment and underemployment, privatization of state services and withdrawal of income support” (White and Cunneen) inherently exist in neo-liberal ideologies, making this disparity between the employed and the unemployed seemingly unavoidable. With this increase in size and diversity of the labor force and the accompanying restrictions to entry, the effects of employment merit analysis. One could possibly make the argument that of employment's causal relationships, perhaps none are more important than employment's affect on one's health. Indeed, “occupational conditions have consequences for physical health outcomes” (Wickrama Lorenz 363). Further, “A central theoretical proposition of sociology states that social structural positions have dramatic effects on life...

...New Product Launch: SONO Filter February 12, 2012 Determine and discuss a pricing strategy (Penetration or Skimming). SONO water filter is a new product in the market with limited resources and finance. I will choose penetration pricing strategy for this new product to gain market share and lure consumers away from the current competitors. This pricing strategy will sets product price low for a specific time period, but once SONO filter develop a strong clientele base, I will raise product price to the normal level. Once product’s extra features and value will be recognized by the consumer, it will create its own place in the market and among other competitors. Rather than choosing Skimming strategy, Penetration strategy would fit better in this product because the product does have other competitors, such as BRITA or PUR. Determine and discuss pricing tactics (product line pricing, value pricing, differential pricing, or competing against private brands) to be used for your product. To ensure the firm’s pricing objectives such as to achieve a target return, maximize profit, increase sales volume and to meet competition, I will have to determine a strong pricing tactics through analyzing product line pricing, value pricing, differential pricing, or competing against private brands. ...fundamental to our current way of life” (Environment Canada, 2011) We will be arguing in favour of British Columbia supporting the construction of the Northern Gateway Pipeline. Throughout our brief, we will provide several arguments reinforcing our position. In addition to the questions provided by the Hearing Panel, we found it extremely important and pertinent to address economic implications of the construction and functioning of the pipeline. For this reason, these elements will be discussed in Section IV of our brief. We chose to omit a couple of Questions of Analysis in favour of expanding on others that we felt were more relevant and necessary to our argument. We hold the belief that the potential benefits of the Northern Gateway Pipeline outweigh the potential costs; reasons for which will become evident in this written submission. Section II: Questions of Fact: Answered 1. Will the pipeline be running above or below ground? The vast majority of the pipeline will be buried up to a meter underground. Basically there was a clash of cultures, with new ideas pushing away old ways and mayor cultures oppressing others. b. Immigration and migration shape the early United States, for example: The first person to be processed at Ellis Island was Annie Moore who arrived from Ireland on January 1, 1892. As the first immigrant Annie Moore was given a $10 gold piece. She soon was married and gave birth to eleven children. While Annie Moore was the first immigrant, she was definitely not alone. Some famous immigrants who arrived through Ellis Island included Charles Chaplin, Cary Grant, Harry Houdini, Walt Disney, Albert Einstein, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is easy to see from this list how immigrants have changed the face of the United States. All of these famous people contributed to the United States, giving a bright future for innovative contributions to the young nation. c. Gordon Moore, one of Intel’s founders, introduced a principle that continues to guide Intel which states that “the number of transistors on a chip roughly doubles every two years.” In keeping with Moore’s Law, Intel’s key to success in the semiconductor industry has been constant innovation. Such a strategy has allowed Intel to remain a leader among competitors such as Texas Instruments, Advanced Micro Devices, International Business Machines, and Freescale Semiconductor, among others. The semiconductor industry is extremely competitive, but Intel seems to have the most sure-footing of all the major competitors.
