Learning how energy conservation really works
Over the past nine weeks, I have learned some wonderful things about science. Things like Different kinds of environmental issues, conservation vs. preservation and different resources plans for the environment. From all the reading and my own research, I decided to do my final project on energy conservation because this is something we are dealing with on a daily base and we need to know how to make things better not only for the environment but for ourselves as humans. My plan within this paper is to educate people on ways to conserve energy. Some atmospheric issues when dealing with energy are things like driving, heating and cooling your home,
What is Energy Conservation
Energy conservation is something very important and the issues we are having with it should not be taking likely. Let us define energy conservation. Energy conservation (According to “Energy Conservation" (n.d.)) “Energy conservation refers to reducing energy through using less of an energy service. Energy conservation differs from efficient energy use, which refers to using less energy for a constant service.” energy needs to be conserve so that we can protect our environment from certain changes, and to save what resources we have now for our upcoming generations. I feel that this is when our renewable sources kick in, like the sun, wind, rain, and tides. These sources will be repeated when needed or required. These are the cleanest sources that are available on this planet right now.
Nonliving and Living Factors of energy conservation
(According to "Mitigation Strategies and Solutions-Energy Conservation" (2013)), “Many factors contribute to and affect global warming; due to energy consumption toxicities are all around us. Non-living factors that contribute to global warming are affixed to our daily lives. These non-living factors include but are not limited to the sun, earth's geothermal activity, and the earth's atmosphere.”
Positive or Negative human effects of Energy Conservation When it comes to being positive or negative dealing with energy conservation among humans can be very challenging. Some of the positive things that come into a play (According to "Energy Conservation Plan" (2013),) would be recycling. (According to "Energy Conservation Plan" (2013)), “Recycling is one of the biggest ways to help with trying to better our planet. This gives people a chance to reuse materials that otherwise would be sitting in landfills. Also there are people that are trying to use waste as a form of energy. There are also products such as bio fuel that is taken from animal oils and vegetable oils that we are now being able to use as fuel in vehicles.” I will teach them about the several different benefits and challenges that come along with energy conservation. Here are some ways to put energy efficiency to use would be to. These are some great benefits (According to “Efficient energy use” (n.d.)) “For example, insulating a home allows a building to use less heating and cooling energy to achieve and maintain a comfortable temperature. Installing fluorescent lights or natural skylights reduces the amount of energy required to attain the same level of illumination compared with using traditional incandescent light bulbs. Compact fluorescent lights use one-third the energy of incandescent lights and may last 6 to 10 times longer. Improvements in energy efficiency are most often achieved by adopting a more efficient technology or production process.” In my opinion I don’t see any negative human affect besides needing to conserve energy and resources at any cost. We need to be using the available resources more efficiently and carefully so that we can get long term benefits at no serious cost. There is no real negative impact of energy conservation all we need to do is save water, save energy and be more eco friendly. All this can start right from home by doing simple things like taking shorter showers, fix any leaky pipes or anything that water comes through.

Benefits and Challenges of My Plan I believe that the benefits of my plan would be getting the right information out to people, who has no clue as to what energy conservation is and how it can improve things within their home and around them. Getting them aware of the problem will make things easier as time progress within the scheduled meetings. I think with me doing this, it will push people in the right direction of wanting things to change for the better with them wanting to help me make a difference in their everyday lives would be a great success story. Some of the challenges that I may face could be them throwing away any important pamphlets I might give out that would help them in the future. I feel that when you make certain suggestions to people and if there are custom to living certain ways then it will be a stretch to getting them to change their ways of living. Sometimes it is hard for some people to make changes. Most of them tend to back away if they don’t see that particular problem happening to them right way, so they would say why worry about it now. Another problem that I could face is that I might not get lots of funding to help me with wanting to make a change within the community or there might be a problem with me speaking in certain places. That is why I feel this would be a problem because if I can’t get my voice heard or the required information out then how can I make a difference. People have to think that everyone cant travel outside of their community so I would need to speak in certain areas so that I can accommodate everyone needs with it comes to people needing help with energy conservation. The way we can conserve energy is by limit or driving, only drive when it really necessary, also driving a higher mileage car or truck is an example of energy efficiency and reduce waste, example would be if you cook try cooking only what you can eat in that one day only if you’re not big on eating leftovers.
Our Government Choices I feel that our government works hard every day in ways to improve energy conservation. I seems like every time you turn the television on your hear about hoe they have come out with a eco efficient car or better light bulbs that will lower the light bill. So I strongly back the government in whatever decision that make to help the environment. Some of the ways they are helping us right now are doing this thing call the low-hanging fruit. (According to "What Are Some Ways The Government Can Conserve Energy" (1999-2013)), “Low-Hanging Fruit when it comes to energy conservation, governments typically start by picking off any low-hanging fruit. These are basic energy conservation measures that can be pursued at little or no cost and with minimal effort. A popular policy at this level is to replace all traditional light bulbs with energy-efficiency models, such as CFLs or LEDs. Government employees may also be encouraged or required to turn off lights in unoccupied rooms or shut down computers and office equipment when not in use.” Other things that the government is doing to help with energy conservation (According to "What Are Some Ways The Government Can Conserve Energy" (1999-2013)), are things like Mid-Range Measures meaning outdated appliances, computers, and office equipment may be replaced with more energy-efficient models. A policy of purchasing only Energy Star products is popular at this level of commitment.” My overall learning experience has really opened my eyes on ways we can conserve energy throughout my home and make it a safe place to live in the process. I have taken a great deal of information away from my nine weeks of this environmental class. I have some much I plan to pass on to love one’s and my community.

My plan is to research and identify the effects of Energy Conservation. For the first 3 months, I will review environmental Web sites and journals that deal with energy conservation.
I will then introduce the problem to people that care about ways to conserve energy through newsletters and community meetings. Inform our Government on ways that they can get involved to help energy conservation worldwide. Set up meetings with the local community and people that feel that they are struggling with energy conservation within their home or other places Month 1-6
I will develop an education program about energy conservation and its affects. I will develop a presentation about why this program will help others and I will include the effects of energy conservation on people’s lifestyle. I will speak about the benefits and challenges of change. I will inform them on ways that they can help reduce pollution and the good that comes out of energy conservation* Let them know how much energy we are wasting every day. I will teach then all the energy solutions available to them and others. Month 6-9
Schedule a presentation day and time for the new program on energy conservation. Request the HOA board add the presentation to the following month’s agenda. I want them to approve the date, which is the 3rd Thursday of each month at 2-5pm. I will give them a layout of what will take places at the meetings. This is for the community and the public. I will let them know all the things I will need to make this as successful as possible. If they have their own audio and visual equipment needed for presentation and layout of the room, I will make documentation of all their equipment. This will be on going until we can fix the problem at hand.
Identify and invite community participants. I will get an accurate count of how many homes are in the community and how many people live in each home. Once that is completed, I will then conduct a door-to-door with the community and see who would be willing to attend and help me fix the ongoing problem. I will then post flyers in the public eye so that they can attend as well. I will then ask everyone to RSVP 3 days before the meeting so that I can have an accurate head count, So that everyone will have somewhere to sit and enjoy the meeting. This is not only for the community but it is open to the public as well. This will be on going as well because the number of guest is subject to change.
