Pestel Five Forces

...PESTEL five forces and SWOT analysis of Apple Introduction: “Steven Wozniak and Steven Jobs had been friends in high school. They had both been interested in electronics, and both had been perceived as outsiders. They kept in touch after graduation, and both ended up dropping out of school and getting jobs working for companies in Silicon Valley. (Woz for Hewlett-Packard, Jobs for Atari)Wozniak had been dabbling in computer-design for some time when, in 1976, he designed what would become the Apple I. Jobs, who had an eye for the future, insisted that he and Wozniak try to sell the machine, and on April 1, 1976, Apple Computer was born. Hobbyists did not take the Apple I very seriously, and Apple did not begin to take off until 1977, when the Apple II debuted at a local computer trade show. The first personal computer to come in a plastic case and include color graphics, the Apple II was an impressive machine. Orders for Apple machines were multiplied by several times after its introduction. And with the introduction in early '78 of the Apple Disk II, the most inexpensive, easy to use floppy drive ever (at the time), Apple sales further increased. With the increase in sales, however, came an increase in company size, and by 1980, when the Apple III was released, Apple had several thousand employees, and was beginning to sell computers abroad. Apple had taken on a number of more experienced mid-level managers and, more importantly, several new investors, who opted to take seats...

...difference between trend analysis and comparative analysis Trend Analysis is a ratio analysis technique that examines the value of a ratio over time to see if it is improving or deteriorating. Example: "The analysis of financial information, trend analysis is the presentation of amounts as a percentage of a base year. Example: The trend of a company’s revenues, net income, and number of clients during the years 2001 through 2007, trend analysis will present 2001 as the base year and the 2001 amounts will be restated to be 100. The amounts for the years 2002 through 2007 will be presented as the percentages of the 2001 amounts. In other words, each year’s amounts will be divided by the 2001 amounts and the resulting percentage will be presented. For example, revenues for the years 2001 through 2007 might have been $31,691,000; $40,930,000; $50,704,00; $63,891,000; $79,341,000; $101,154,000; $120,200,000. These revenue amounts will be restated to be 100, 129, 160, 202, 250, 319, and 379. Let’s assume that the net income amounts divided by the 2001 amount ended up as 100, 147, 206, 253, 343, 467, and 423. The number of clients when divided by the base year amount are 100, 122, 149, 184, 229, 277, and 317. From this trend analysis we can see that revenues in 2007 were 379% of the 2001 revenues, net income in 2007 was 467% of the 2001 net income, and the number of clients in 2007 was 317% of the number in 2001. Using the restated amounts from trend analysis makes it much easier...

Case Study: Partners Healthcare Systems

...HealthCare Systems Case Study: Partners HealthCare Systems Partners HealthCare is a non-profit, health system located in Boston that created a data based transformation (Davenport, 2013). It integrated a new system that aligned the participating organizations to cohesively run as one and to help shape the future of the organization. The system didn’t stop there as it was responsible for bettering the patient financing experience and the delivery of healthcare information to other organizations (Davenport, 2013). The initial goal of the organization was making patient care more affordable and accountable by providing integrated, evidence based, patient-oriented care. Problem Identified Partners HealthCare, which was created by major contributing hospitals and medical facilities in the Northeast, initially began as a way to focus on the patient needs; however, the company soon found themselves separating from their initial goal. There was more than one problem identified within the realms of the company. There are three main issues that this case study produced. The first outlying issue is called Alert/Warning Fatigue (Davenport, 2013). This derives from alerts that were placed in the system to warn doctors of notices that could be anything from mixing prescriptions to simple notifications that most doctors already knew or was not in their field of study. A second issue that requires resolution to create a successful working system is the sense of non-conformity and disconnect...
