The Era of Good Feelings was a period of time (1816-1824) after the War of 1812 against Great Britain and its allies. This would be the last time the United States would fight against Great Brittan. It was also a period of time that was almost overlapping President James Monroe’s presidency. The period of time was known as the Era of Good Feelings because it was a time where there was only one majority party, as well as political stability and nationalism and patriotism. However, many believe that the name is an inaccurate description of the Era and it did not live up to its name.
After the War of 1812 the Federalist party was dissolved and this meant that the only dominant party was the Democratic Republican party. Because there was only one dominant party, this created unity and nationalism in the United States. People became more patriotic and politicians felt they had to make internal improvements to the country. As a result, there were many canals build during this era, as well as steam boats used to move goods and people. This, as a result improved trade. This nationalism gave the government the desire to encourage people to move farther west, past the Mississippi river

However, during this era there was some separation among American citizens. And there were many reasons that caused this; one of which being the panic of 1819. The growth …show more content…

...Critical Analysis Gerald Holt English 216 Liberty University Ode to a Lyrical Masterpiece Introduction Creative writing is seen by many as a way to free the expression of the mind, allowing anyone who feels the urge to put their thoughts on paper can do so. There are a large number of people who have lived throughout time that have had their legacy live forever through their writing because they were able to eloquently configure their thoughts in a manner to reach others. Writing in literature has stretched over many long periods since the beginning of time and that could easily be established by taking note that the Bible is the highest selling book of all time. The Bible may have not been written all at one time, but the majority of the works and its authors were mainly from the same time period. Writing has gone through different ages where the majority of writers had the same idea, or style of writing that they wanted to focus on. Some of the ages of writing that had a strong influence on literature as a whole were that of the neoclassical and romantic age of writing. One piece of literature in particular that has been the topic of many discussions is the “Ode to a Nightingale”. Humanity's Next Great Leap

...discoveries in genomic research, resulting in the creation of the first ever self-replicating man-made living cell. Many pivotal discoveries such as this have played key roles in shaping humanity’s development. Things that were once considered to be out of our reach or of unknown origins have slowly been unlocked as a result of the advancements we have made through the ages. This paper analyzes how the journalists of three separate internet news articles reported on JCVI’s successful creation of a synthetic bacterial cell. The purpose was to interpret the articles and to determine whether or not the information within them accurately reported the findings of the J. Craig Venter Institute’s case study. There has been a great deal of speculation as to what the next scientific advancement will be to act as the catalyst for the next great leap forward in mankind’s long history of scientific progressions. Many of our newly discovered technologies have greatly improved the quality of our lives, while others have simply given rise to increasingly more efficient ways for killing one another. The difference between a nuclear power plant and a nuclear warhead immediately comes to mind. Whichever side of morality these technological breakthroughs have fallen on, certain discoveries in history have consequently changed the way we humans have lived our lives forever. Technology Through the Ages Time periods such as The Bronze Age, The Industrial Era, and The Atomic Era were all results of...

Boomers, Generation X, and Millennial

...Abstract This paper explores four published articles, six books and three web sites that report on results from research about three generations of people over the span of approximately fifty years. The articles and books suggest that there is a strong connection between generations in relation to their experiences, worldviews and beliefs. The information gathered for this research paper is consistent across sources. The paper examines how much each generation influenced the other as its members traveled through their life cycle. Researchers have determined that every generation has a specific characteristic that distinguishes it from the other. In short, the overall effect one generation has on the other depends on circumstances that existed during that period. We will examine generations referred to as Baby boomers, Generation X and Millennials and how their history helped to shape the world today. It is clear that these three generations are distinct in terms of their experiences, worldviews and beliefs. However, it is also evident that history shaped the development of each group, allowing the generation that followed to benefit from earlier periods in history, creating pockets of similarities across the decades. Experiences in their lifetimes The Baby Boomer Generation is the name given to persons born between “1947 and 1966” and was seen as the last generation that effected any great changes on American society. This generation was distinguishable...

Through looking over time at the view point of humans, to personality tests, to personal development and lastly looking at optimal healing environments this paper will construct my professional presence and look at ways to improve my ability to care for others. A1. Models of health and healing: A comparison of 2 Eras In Dr. Dossey’s “A Conversation About the Future of Medicine” he discusses his theory of the progress of health and healing. He looks at how medicine changed from the 1860s the 21st century based on how the individual was viewed. He shows how the individual progressed from being looked at as solely a physical being with physical ailments to more modern views where we treat the person has a whole including their emotions and “spirit” or “soul”. He broke this progression down into 3 parts which were called “Eras”. An overview of the Era’s will show how medicine has progressed to look at the patient as whole not just a body with symptoms. Era I, also called “mechanical medicine”, began in the 1860s. In this era Dossey shows how patients were treated in a purely physical nature. He states that the, “prevailing view that health and illness are totally physical in nature, and thus all therapies should be physical ones, such as surgical procedures or drugs” (Dossey 1999). People who graduated with a college degree still questions whether college was a good investment for them. “Do the Benefits of College Still Outweigh the Costs?” addresses how students who graduated with a college degree are still unemployed and in debt. Furthermore, students have paid more to attend college and earning less upon graduation. This academic journal compares both the pros and cons of attending college. It contains graphs and illustrations that contribute more data about increasing tuition and how it affects your decision about whether to attend college. “The total costs to attend a 4-year college outweighs some people’s home value.” I thought this quote summarizes the academic journal very briefly. “Do the Benefits of College Still Outweigh the Costs?” is a scholarly source and an academic journal. The data in it is really reliable for my research paper. It contains graphs and illustrations which could be used to make conclusions. This academic journal is more biased towards the people who believe that the benefits of college do not outweigh the costs. I could potentially use this source to support my thesis more efficiently.
