Synopsis
Today I read a very interesting paper. The name of the paper is “The New Science of Building Great Teams”. It is mainly describe the how to build high-performing groups. It is written by Alex “Sandy” Pentland. The author asked us to look for the “it factor” for a success team. The key to high performance is not in the content of discussions but in the manners of communication. Patterns of communication are most important predictor of a team’s success. A success team may have some characteristics as follows (1) Everyone talks and listen in equal measure (2) Connect directly with one another (3) Side conversations within the team (4) Go exploring outside the team. The author also tells some key elements of communication. Those are energy, engagement and exploration. The author suggests us communicating with everyone equally and make sure all numbers get a chance to contribute. We need connect their teammates with one another and spread ideas around.

Interaction
I was shocked by the different result of using different method to talk with people. I have read a lot of paper about “science”. However, I do not think they work well. Form reading this paper; I learn leadership is neither art nor science. It is service, to those being led. I think leaders need to attend seminars and webinars and do role-plays and learn all kinds of made-up jargon to figure out how to treat their charges decently and get the best efforts out of them by setting an example and leading from the front, then they shouldn't be leaders at all. I also agree the opinion of author that as a leader, we need to give respect to people and knowing people what they need. That will much improve the efficiency of communication. I also strong agree the opinion of best way to communication is face to face. I think that way give us more information to understanding people. I usually can understand what the people think form his expression, sound or attitude. I do not like E-mail either. I do not think that way can expression the right message or we will misunderstand the information sometimes. I realized I have make a lot of mistake during I am talking with people. I need respect people and care more for other people opinion. Only make they fell important, they can engaged for the team and make contribution for team. Takeaway
I learn two most important things for my career. The first thing was use scientific method to communication with other. The second thing is I need show respect and love to impressed other. That will make the talking or discussion much more easily. I think I will be more patience in my career life. The secret is it can improve the chance of success to transmit your information to your workmates or boss. I also understand when we need to talk something important in my career, I need try to not use e-mail. That will not give me a satisfied result.
