Question 13 Group 1
Question 14
(a) 1. Define the Scope
2. Identify the Major Stakeholders
3. Identify Basic Trends
4. Identify Key Uncertainties
5. Construct Initial Scenario Themes
6. Check for Consistency and Plausibility
7. Develop Learning Scenarios
8. Identify Research Needs
9. Develop Quantitative Models
10. Evolve toward Decision Scenarios

(b) Scenario planning could be used in the industry of Education. While it is not a classic industry, I believe that scenario planning could be beneficial and effective for education. It could help plan the implementation of a new education system, such as specialized education for students gifted in unique areas. While the current school system educates, it is not efficient to the point that many promising students are cut short because of the platonic nature of the education system. Scenario planning could help plan the stages of implementing a new system. The stakeholders are clearly the youth and students, basic trends are Fine Arts, science and mathematics, social studies, humanities and etc. Many uncertainties would of course be the ability to learn from each individual student in terms of tactile, auditory, visual, or etc. In the end, every step of scenario planning would be helpful for education.
Question 15
(a) Regular Glove = 500, Catcher’s Mitt = 150, Value = 3700
(b) Finishing and packaging and shipping constraints
(c) Cutting and Sewing = 0, Finishing = 3, Packaging and Shipping = 28
Additional time is worth $3 per unit for finishing and $28 per unit for packaging and shipping
(d) Packaging and shipping because it increases profit by $28
Question 16
(a) Regular Gloves : 4 to 12, Catcher’s Mitt : 3.33 to 10
(b) If profit contribution for the regular glove is between $4 and $12, the solution is optimal, and if it stays between $3.33 and $10.00 for the catcher’s mitt, the solution is optimal. The optimal solution is not sensitive to small changes in the profit contributions for the gloves
(c) Cutting and Sewing: 725 to no upper, Finishing : 133.33 to 400, Packaging : 75 to 135
(d) 28*20 = $560
Question 17
(a) The optimal solution is 100 suits and 150 sport coats. There is a surplus of 40 hours in cutting with none in sewing. The total profit is $40,900.
(b) The objectives range for suits has an upper limit of $255. Therefore, the optimal solution will not change but the value of the optimal solution will increase by $2000 where ($210-$190)*100 = $2000. The new total profit is $42,900
(c) Tucker Inc. should place a rush order for material because the additional cost of material is only $8 per yard while the dual price has a maximum of $34.50.
(d) Lowering the requirement for suits by 75 would hurt the profit, because the minimum constraint is -$35 meaning lowering the minimum requirement for suits by 25 will improve the profit.
Question 18
(a) x1 = Cabinet maker 1 making oak x2 = Cabinet maker 2 making oak x3 = Cabinet maker 3 making oak y1 = Cabinet maker 1 making cherry y2 = Cabinet maker 2 making cherry y3 = Cabinet maker 3 making cherry
1800x1 + 1764x2 + 1650x3 + 2160y1 + 2016y2 + 1925y3
50x1 + 60y1 ≤ 40
