Case : This story is of my very close friend . We knew each other since our childhood days. He was a brilliant student . Everything was going well . It all started when my best friend started to mix with the wrong crowd.
With new mates and bad company he started focusing much less into studies and moved into spending time hanging out with people with no conduct. I valued his friendship much more than just a company at school . His father used to live away in different state and used to come very rarely due to some work . It was very evident that his new lifestyle was paving way to trouble but it was still very hard for me to hurt his feelings .
I thought that if I will tell him to stay away from those bad guys then he might have thought that I am jealous of …show more content…
I really did not know if my friends business was mine in anyway.
And who was I to tell his parents to begin with. Thing went shoddier for three more weeks. He was shattering every expectation his parents had on him and was in the verge of getting expelled from school sooner or later. I was caught up in a situation where I did not want to offend my friend and have my good relationship end there. Now again a bad news came . My friend was caught red handed doing some unethical act in school campus. And I was sure that school committee will take strict action against it . His mother was called for meeting. A heated conversation was going on between his mother and the school committee members. Till now his mother was unaware of his son’s behaviour . She couldn’t believe whatever committee members were telling her. She left the meeting in disbelief . Later` my friend was expelled from the school for the misconduct. I too was called to the meeting because I was his best friend and was thought to be closest to him . The approach : Before I left home that day my teacher tried to make me understand how important it was for me to spit the truth.

Essay About My Best Friend

...It was just a normal summer day 4 years ago in my home town of Fort Branch. Everyday was practically the same in the summertime. We were out of school so the whole day was ours to hang out. None of us had a job, since I was only 14, as well as Alex, my two older friends were 15; Zack and Dustin. These guys were my closest friends growing up. Dustin and Alex both knew me since we were all too young to even go to school. Only Zack was one of my newer friends. We all met through each other about a year prior to this. Just like that, we've been best friends ever since. Each and every day had exactly the same start to it. No one wanted to sleep in early because that was just a waste of daylight. So about 8 o’clock we would all meet at Zacks house. The Price is Right was the best show on...

Which Essay Is Better: a Narrative or a Descriptive?

...Which Essay is Better: A Narrative or A Descriptive?   Ever read a story and say to yourself, “What’s happening?” Whenever I read a descriptive essay, that’s what I would say. In this essay I would be comparing and contrasting two types of essays, a narrative and descriptive. I have chosen “Are the rich happy?” by Stephen Leacock 1916 and “Sister Flowers” by Maya Angelou, n.d. By writing my essay, I want to give my views on each and decide which I would rather write. Narrative Essay A narrative essay reflects a personal opinion that is based on your own experiences. This helps you bring a reader into your very own mind and shows him/her the topic you’re writing about through your eyes. Telling a story or event the way it happened for you. It also could provide a sort of lesson or moral to be learned from the outcome of the story as well as what the writer did that contributed to it or not. It’s more on a personal level that any one reading could say that happened to them or that they learned from the story by not doing whatever it was that the writer did. In Stephen Leacock’s “Are the Rich Happy?” the author writes about his experiences with his friends, with of modest income. Most of it, all in his opinion, points out the problems or troubles those with an existential amount of funds in their bank accounts. He goes on to give some examples that he encountered several of his friends going through. “A friend of mine who has ten thousand dollars a year told me the other...

Final Project Sem 1

...like stress, money, and making time for my family are my three biggest challenges that I personally face. Think about where you are at this point in time. How many challenges have you overcome? The biggest of my three greatest challenges that I face as a college student is stress. There is stress coming from every direction. It comes from places like class, work, home life, relationships, and unexpected setbacks. For me, I do not deal with stress well. There is so many ways to cope with stress, but some people are better at it than others. You just have to find that one thing that you can do to escape from reality for a little while. The reason why I put stress first on my list, is because all of my challenges are directed to stress. I have faced this challenge for a while now. It has seem to become a part of my daily routine. With that being said, I have learned to control it but not to completely erase it from my life. If you figure out how, let me know! One suggestion that I have come up with is putting yourself in a setting where nothing can cause more stress. For me, I like going in a quiet room and finding out interesting facts about random things. I look for silly little books, internet articles, and fun facts that have un-useful information. For example, who invented video games? Though this may not but useful academic wise, it is useful for my stress relief. This information provided for stress management was found in my essay for module three. It explains that there...

School Year

...every day and make new friends. In English, the teacher helped us prep for the GRAD TEST, which was very smart. While prepping for the GRAD TEST I gained some new knowledge like how to make the essay sound very interesting. I was very excited seeing my score that I got from the practice essay since the teacher grade the same like how the GRAD TEST will be graded. However, the history day essay was very fun, too. It was fun because I got to research about the topic that I picked and I picked “Birth Control”, which was a very interesting topic. Some of the information that I learn from “Birth Control” while I was researching was that between 1910 and 1915, 300,000 women died in childbirth. That’s more than all of the men who died in the U.S. wars from the Revolution to World War 1. History day essay was also fun because I get to use the information that I had research on “Birth Control” onto my essay that I am writing. In French, the teacher was very good at teaching because he is very easy going and I understand everything he is teaching. Another thing about my French teacher is that he is very nice and he gives out candy to his students. Also learning different languages gives us more knowledge on the culture and also improves our communication skills with others in different languages. In Geometry, there were multiple theorems and I learned more than 40 theorems. Learning these theorems helps our math skills to improve more. Another thing about Geometry is that we get...

Personal Narrative: Walla University

...It is now the end of my first official quarter in college. I could act as if I now know what I am doing and say that I am an expert at college survival, but I am not. I walked into this experience with a countless amount of questions and three months into it they seem only to have multiplied. This first quarter of college has been a learning experience in the form of a brutal awakening. The revelation of truth behind college relationships, studies, and growth has ignited a change that I hope will benefit me in years to come. A significant part of the reason for my picking Walla Walla University was that I already had a stable friend group on campus. I knew that I was social enough to make friends regardless of the college I attended, but only Walla Walla could offer me a backup plan. I had...

Choices of life What would you do if you could decide your future, your life and your way in a couple of seconds? Will you take the chance and risk, or will you sit and wait for something else to happen? I took a risk when I decided to come in the United States, and there is no doubt that this decision has been the biggest choice I had to make in my life so far. The proposal came almost out of nowhere. I had heard about a coach who was interested in college soccer players, so I went to a scrimmage he had organized, not thinking that I could be the chosen one, not thinking that a day like that could change my entire life course. After the game, the coach came to me and asked me, “Do you want to come to America?” I accepted the proposal in no time. After all, that was the reason I went to the scrimmage in the first place. I was so happy he selected me out of so many players that I did not think about the importance of my decision. After a few days and sleepless nights, I began to have second thoughts. I realized how big this was, how my life was going to change. All my friends, my family...

Darrin M. Mcmahon's Essay In Pursuit Of Unhappiness

...Darrin M. McMahon’s essay, “In Pursuit of Unhappiness”,was published in New York Times on December 29, 2005. His essay addresses the idea that we must be happy by starting with the famous phrase, “Happy New Year”. Human beings have a desire to be happy and are constantly searching for it. McMahon specifies that even with better living conditions than ever before, the level of enjoyment has not went up at all. The philosopher, John Stuart Mill, voices his opinion in the essay by saying, “Ask yourself whether you are happy, and you cease to be so” (785). He confirmed after winning the battle of depression. Instead of accepting defeat, he chose to look elsewhere for happiness. The point he is trying to get across is that instead of looking for happiness and being...

My Struggle With Literacy-Personal Narrative

...It was one rainy day in Southern California. I was on my way to school riding shotgun, my day had started off right. I did not mind the rain until I got off the car. All you hear is a big splash. My feet were soaked. I could feel the cold water seeping into my socks. “Well this is a bad start to my day,” I said out loud. I walk inside school and rush to class before I got another tardy slip. That would have ruined my day. Finally, I sit down in my favorite desk and wait for Advisory to start. I loved Advisory because I could finish my homework or talk to my friends. The next bell rang for first period. I had AP English Literature with Ms.Wyatt who was also my basketball coach. As soon as I walked into the classroom I felt a cold air hit my...

The Challenge of Studying Aboard

...Studying abroad has a lot of fun, but certainly not easy. As a student, I personally think that the most challenge thing is the academic study. The challenge of academic language study consists in following classes, reading textbooks in timely period (Lin, Yi), understanding professors' words, taking lecture notes, and giving oral presentations (Ziyan, Hong), asking professors questions and interacting in seminar discussions and so on. I, personally, think the reading and oral speech are very hard to international students especially to Chinese students in Saint Louis University because all my Chinese friends are struggling in reading English texts and communicating clearly in class. In colleges, students have many resources to read before and after classes. The challenges in reading reflect in two aspects. First, the number of reading assignments are more than that you excepted. My friends me all struggle to finish our reading every day. Especially those classes belong to Arts and Science, such as History, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology. On average, students have fifteen classes one week, and we need to read all the materials before the classes to follow our professors. If the professors always teach one chapter that has fifty pages in each class, we have to read and understand 750 pages...

My Experience in the Writing Process

...My Experience in the Writing Process This semester I was surprised by how much I actually learned and developed my writing skills. I was given the opportunity to learn the many steps that it is required to become a good writer. Writing requires a lot of work. It consists of various steps; prewriting, drafting, rewriting, proofreading and publishing. . All of these components are extremely important, and necessary, and will need to be follow to improve student’s writing. I feel my writing has improved due to the help of the writing process and all the writing assignments I experienced. I was able utilized each of these components this semester. I wrote various journals and two essays, which were very challenging to me. The first essay I was asked to write, was a Narrative essay about an experience in which later I questioned my actions. At first, I was very nervous due to I have never written an essay before. I did not even know where to begin. I struggled during the whole process of writing the essay. My biggest problem of all was putting my thoughts in order so I could make sense of what I wanted to say. I brainstorm for days trying to figure out a topic. With the help of the eLearning text information on module 2, how to choose a topic and develop a working thesis I was able to come up with a topic. I finally came up with, Moving away from Friends and Family. Thanks to Module 3, Introduction to Narrative Essay, and the examples that were provided, I was able to...
