Jamestown and The Plymouth plantation are both similar but also different. The stories that were based upon these settlements made me realize that if I were to have to chose which group of colonist, I would have to chose the Puritan settlers.
Jamestown landed in Virginia in 1607 and made it the first English settlement in this new world. Jamestown was a great settlement for goods and crops because of the great weather and rich soil for the plants and food to be successfully grown. The English looked for gold and silver and they did find , in Virginia, it was a better economic living. The English sailors began to build shelter and begin their new lives in this different country. Although they did come upon problems, the natives weren’t so pleased to see strangers take their supposed land. Captain John Smith was one of the main sailors and he fell in love with Pocahontas and when Pocahontas’s father found out he was sentenced to death, but Pocahontas didn't allow it and eventually let him and his other sailors be.

The English that settled in Virginia settled for a new living and to seek for more money and to prosper and gain lots of loot. Although, the Puritans left England for freedom and live in peace with the people who believe in the same religion, or even make your own religion. Even though they might have had their differences they both did come to America with the same intentions, to seek a better lifestyle, something different and be leaders for themselves. World Civilisation

...HUM 1000: WORLD CIVILIZATIONS NOTES BY DR. KAKAI P.W THE NATURE AND ORIGIN OF CIVILIZATION IN AFRICA Definition of key terms As we begin this course, it is crucial to first discuss our understanding of the concept ‘civilization’. This is a comparative term which is usually applied in comparison to such words as ‘barbarian’ ‘savage’ and ‘primitive’. In classical antiquity the Europeans used the word ‘barbarian’ to refer to a foreigner who was regarded as inferior (Ogutu and Kenyanchui, An Introduction To African History, 1991 p33). Do you think this is still the way we use the word barbarian? The Latin speakers referred to hunters, food-gatherers as savage. In the 17th century this term ‘savage’ referred to a person without art, literacy, or society who lived in fear of existence and death. ‘Primitive’ on the other hand, in Latin meant ‘the first or original’. Europeans used these words interchangeably when referring to non-Europeans while the word civilization was preserved to describe historical developments of European people (ibid). Now the term civilization is no longer confined to the above development but also extends reference to non-European communities. Attributes of civilization includes observance to law, belonging to an organized society, having a society of literate people with advanced developments in urbanization, agriculture, commerce, arts and technology. The French thinkers of the 18th century referred to a person of the arts and literature...
